2007 Hyundai Santa Fe SE 4dr SUV AWD (3.3L 6cyl 5A)
Review
My first try with a Hyundai. Live in NE and wanted a 4-WD. Expected fair value at best but very suprised. Happy with overall performance. A real tank in the snow. Unstoppable. Even my hwy mileage is at 26 mph. (better than book} Need 6 CD player and GPS next time. Front hood slightly overextended. Needs better map lighting.
Favorite Features
Looks great w/ nice stance. 26 mph on hwy. Comfortable. Passenger comfort as well. AWD great in NE snow. Nice visibility from drivers seat, and nice dash layout. Blue bkgnd lighting nice touch. 48,000 miles and no problems.
Suggested Improvements
Front hood over-extended. Better map lighting. Radio not great on AM. 6-CD player needed.

So what gives with the gas mileage?
Vehicle
2007 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 4dr SUV AWD w/XM (2.7L 6cyl 4A)
Review
Purchased car used with 17K miles from dealer. Reading was 20.1 mpg, drove it home and mpg began to drop immediately. Went as low as 12.8 but then had problem with 02 sensor. Dealer said that mileage would improve after replacement. It got a little better, now back up to 15.1, city.On trips to Tahoe the best mpg was 18. Overall, I like the car but given the times, one can't make buying decisions on cars w/o taking mpg into account. I would never have bought this car if I'd known what the true mileage would be. I think that all of the disclaimers given by both the dealers and the feds are outrageous. A consumer should be entitled to minimal expectations for such a critical feature.
Favorite Features
space, radio controls on steering wheel, storage compartment in rear, blue lights on control panel.
Suggested Improvements
front seats too short, no automatic door locks, map lights inadequate, lack of real bumpers and side strips will surely become a problem as the car gets older, ski rack is narrow and position of antenna gets in the way when hauling skis.

tire towing problems

There is a definite front tire alignment defect on this vehicle. The tire warranty is bogus since no tire store will pro-rate remainder of warranty claiming it is from hitting too many potholes.

cruise control and heating system do not work properly

A Jewel to Own
Vehicle
2007 Hyundai Santa Fe SE 4dr SUV (3.3L 6cyl 5A)
Review
Love to look at Santa Fe from any angle. Every bit as nice as any SUV in it's size and I feel like I'm in a Lexus or a BMW with really no trade-off. Two years, 41k and still seems like new. Competent handling vehicle all-around. Excellent utility, visibility, pleasure to drive, haul stuff, and to carry 4-5 passengers. I regularly have 4 adults and 4 sets of golf clubs. Paint shine great. Blue lighting on the dash being so nice. People are impressed by this car. Friend with an 07 Jeep Cherokee which was double the price, he comments that his car has virtually no advantage over mine. He has rarely ever engaged his 4 wheel drive. He gets 15mpg, I average 22 around town and 26 hwy.
Favorite Features
Looks, utility, good on fuel, solid, reliable, sit high to road, quiet, comfortable, great blue lighted dash
Suggested Improvements
well we all wish cars would get better gas mileage, maybe another highway cruising gear.

Very Pleased

2007 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 4dr SUV w/XM (2.7L 6cyl 4A)
Review
Having owned this vehicle almost 2 years I can say that it is one impressive vehicle. I was skeptical at first about buying a Hyundai but I'm glad I did. The car has held up extremely well and there are no issues whatsoever. I drove the Rav4, CR-V, Vue, CX-7, and Murano before deciding on the Santa Fe and do not regret it to this day. A deer ran out in front of me one night not too long ago and had to replace the front bumper, driver side headlamp, driver front fender and various components. Though insurance covered it the total cost was close to $5,000.00, it is not a very cheap vehicle to repair if ever in a minor accident.
Favorite Features
Quiet ride, strong brakes, excellent build quality. Ability to leave the headlamp switch on and they turn themselves off once you exit the car. Blue backlighting on the interior controls is a nice touch. I'm very impressed with the smoothness and quietness of the powertrain. About 20 mpg average
Suggested Improvements
Noisy tires, front passenger headrest rattles a lot over bumpy surfaces. The turn signal and wiper stalks seem kind of cheap. Also, I would like to see navigation offered on lower trim levels.

Repeat Hyundai owner
Vehicle
2007 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited 4dr SUV (3.3L 6cyl 5A)
Review
This is the 3rd Hyundai I have owned. The first was over 20yrs ago when we lived on the west coast. Brought it back to the midwest and was so happy with performance. 15 years later I got an Elantra. Loved it till my son totaled it in an accident. It did in an accident. It held up very well. Now I have my Santa Fe..2 years now. It has been fun to drive, mileage traveling 24-29 mpg on the hwy and never less than 19.5 even in our Michigan winters. When I need a replacement(hopefully many years away) I will head right back to my dealer for another Hyundai
Favorite Features
Adjustable seats with warming feature, Feels safe to drive
Suggested Improvements
the 18" tires were hard to replace and expensive. I do not know if it would have changed my mind to purchase but a very limited selection in the size required even for tire dealers to order

We've owned the Santa Fe for just over a year. We have had ZERO issues. Very happy overall with this vehicle. I was a little concerned when we bought the vehicle, as we had always owned Toyotas/Hondas. If you're contemplating a Santa Fe, I would highly recommend this vehicle.
Favorite Features
No quality problems, smooth ride, powerful engine, great AWD, comfortable, hot heated seats.

Review
I love this suv it's 3000 less than a rav4 and is 2500 less than a crv I got into a minor accident with a parked truck and my Santa Fe only got $1253.11cdn worth of damage. And the truck got $5000.00. That tells you something! I've only had one problem and that is the battery in Canadian winters is useless [go to Costco and get a cheap battery it's better than this one]
Favorite Features
Dash, build quality, size, looks,Golden beige paint, wood trim doesn't chip! beige interior

I am leasing this vehicle and may buy it at lease-end. I have had no problems with it at all and no squeaks as some have complained of. I consistently get close to 18 MPG in the city and 22-25 on the highway. The Santa Fe feels very secure and with most SUVs, you get a nice commanding view of the road. The 2.7 engine can be a little sluggish - I'd rather have the 3.3 engine.
Favorite Features
xm radio, roominess, handling, quiet cabin.
Suggested Improvements
Retire the 2.7 engine in the Santa Fe.

Mileage Concerns
Vehicle
2007 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 4dr SUV w/XM (2.7L 6cyl 4A)
Review
I have read a lot about different owners obtaining either normal or low mileage with the SF. My vehicle (2.7L- 4sp auto)is rated for 24/20. If driven carefully, coasting, no jackrabbits, moderate 50 mph speeds, I have obtained 30 mpg on long trips. My normal is around 22 mpg. So much depends on your driving style. For those with low mileage, get the lead out of your shoes.
Favorite Features
100G Warranty, electronic stability control, seat warmers, appearance
Suggested Improvements
Should add GPS as standard pop up in dash. Possible hybrid in future???
