I wish you the best of luck in pin-pointing the problem. I had a 2002 Santa Fe AWD with a 2.7L v6 that did really well on gas mileage. I traded it for a 2006 Santa Fe AWD with a 3.5L v6 and it was TERRIBLE. My 2002 got 27 MPG on the highway with A/C on low and cruise set to 70 MPH int he summer. My 2006 NEVER got ... Read More

I have had exact same problem with my 2010 Santa Fe FWD Sport 3.5. This post would be a good start: doohickie, "Hyundai Online Shop Manuals Access" #7, 27 Nov 2006 11:13 am There's some other links in the Online Repair Manuals guide, but I think most owners are pretty happy with the free offerings straight from Hyundai.
Has anyone had these installed? Are they worth the nearly $500 cost? Are there more reasonably priced sources of supply? I'm interested in running boards, i.e. NOT the tubular type. It seems Hyundai has withdrawn their own running boards. Any info on source and general comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

My only point is that the extra paid in at the beginning is not recouped upon resale because because that higher % is lost to the vehicles premium initial price. 2001-2006 Santa Fe's are odd birds. The only reason you can get a Pilot right now like that is because it is a relatively old body style. When the new Pilot comes out, Honda dealers will do the same thing and the Santa Fe's dealer prices will have decreased. It's really a never end cycle. It's really the dealers, not the manufacturer, and the consumer that are driving prices of the Santa Fe up. When there are ... Read More
There is still about a $2000 price difference between the two, and the Pilot is a bit more fuel thirsty and less agile which also hits the bottom line. Hyundai can't really control what the dealer decides to offer consumers. If people really didn't like the vehicle, then dealers couldn't get what their getting. I think Honda is trying to move the Pilot faster to bring out the next generation. It's ... Read More
Nice find on that article. Maybe it's not a bad strategy at all, considering all the pages of comments on this vehicle vs. others just released or about to be released. All this debate and speculation is really decent, cheap PR for Hyundai. This release allows them to continue selling the 2006's to the less informed at a discounted rate, while still hyping the release of the new design.
This release is at best awkward. I've only seen a couple at dealerships in my area. I agree with you completely. This release is relying more on informal marketing channels, word-of-mouth advertising, blogs, and forums, to reach its value-conscious market. This is very strange for a vehicle that defied tradition and looked upmarket to benchmark its standards (Go ahead and brag about it!). ;) Furthermore, the surplus of 2006 models, as ... Read More
When you consider features, the Santa Fe is up there with the Acura. The only reason Acura is considered a premium or luxury brand is that they don't have any budget offerings. Acura's are nothing more than rebadged and restyled Hondas. If it came down to the Pilot and some cash over the MDX. It's the same with other manufacturers (Lexus, Infiniti, Lincoln, Cadillac, etc.) You can most certainly justify a ... Read More
I was at my local Hyundai dealer in Minnesota, and they still had about 5 - 2005 Santa Fe's and about 40 - 2006 Santa Fe's. This dealer will not give out the incentives needed to clear these vehicles out before the new 07 model comes out. If they keep this up, they will never sell them when the 07's come!
Yes, please share the invoice prices on the packages and options. Currently debating between this and the Honda Pilot. Anyone know if the Hyundai dealers will be willing to sell near invoice for this new model, yet? I was planning to buy new car this weekend, due to most dealerships having 4th of July specials, but if I go with the Santa Fe, I will wait until the third-row seat is ... Read More
http://arabam.milliyet.com.tr/arabamtest/hyundai_santafe5_2006/hyundai_santafe5_- 1.asp This the first 2007 Santa fe test. This suv is already in sale in Turekey and they tested the car. Translation for everyone they say its a very large car from the last generation. Reaches 0-60 in 13 seconds. As you can see it in the pioctures its a 5 seat model because these cars in turkey are sold out. People got in line to buy this. They say ... Read More
No incentive rebates are being offered on the 2007 Santa Fe. However, the vehicle has just started arriving on dealer lots this past week and they have to sell out the 2006 Santa Fe models ($3000.00 rebate). Wait a few months (Sept. - Nov.) to see if they offer incentives to move the 2007 models.
From another forum, actually. Because of this website's posting rules, I'm not allowed to say which forum. But, if you go to Google.com and type in "2006/7 Hyundai Santa Fe abes_cw," you might just get lucky. Especially on the 21st page of... ahem*... any hit that you may get. [Hint, hint... ;) ;)] Mike
Because of its standard stability control, redesigned suspension, and significantly enhanced static stability, this new version will not tip-up in the Gov't test. The intentional non-recommendation of the Santa Fe only applies to the last generation model (model years 2001-2006 here in the States) - something that I personally feel is a responsible move on CR's part. CR will recommend the new Santa Fe if it performs well in their tests, ... Read More
Hey karen, The 2006 SantaFe's have been out for about 5 years so I think it is a safe bet for a reliable car. However, the new 2007 SantaFe's are supposed to be a much better car and much better in terms of technological advancements. I'm sure you can't go wrong with both of them as all of the Hyundai's on their line up are very reliable and one of the ... Read More
FWIW, I walked through my local Hyundai dealer's lot today and there were no 2007 Santa Fe's. At least 15 2006s though. It's possible they have an off-site lot however.
Yeah, it seems to hold its own quite well compared to the other two: (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)(2006 Toyota 4Runner)(2006 Nissan Pathfinder) Headroom 1st row (40.2) (39.7) (40.0) 2nd row (39.6) (39.1) (39.9) 3rd row (34.8) (32.9) (36.7) Shoulder room 1st row (59.5) (58.0) (58.3) 2nd row (58.6) (57.2) (58.4) 3rd row (53.9) (56.7) (57.1) Legroom 1st row (42.6) (41.8) (42.4) 2nd row (36.8) (34.6) (34.2) 3rd row (32.2) (24.1) (28.1) ...
