  The first generation (2001-2006) of the Santa Fe was the SM, the 2007+ redesign is the CM. I don't know if they really stand for anything, they may just be model codes used by Hyundai.

  You might be talking about Day Time Running Lights> DRL?? which is not full lights. My Mazda 3 has auto lights. Leave the switch on Auto and the full headlights and rears will come on automaticlly when it senses when it is getting dark. They will not turn off automatically when the engine is turned off.
