    Not sure if this helps, but I had, I think, the same problem with the purge valve a few years back. What caused the problem was that when I filled the car up at the gas station I kept topping off the gas to make I sure I got a full tank. It effected the purge valve. I can look at at my repair record to be sure.

    I have been having numerous electrical problems with my 2003 Santa Fe GLS for a while now. My clock does not work, nor does my power sunroof or the thing that shows the date. I have also had numerous problems with the engine, but now it seems to be ok and YES, I always kept up w/my oil changes and used Hyundai filters!

    I just took my 2004 Santa Fe in for this very same problem, waiting for the bad news, because I'm not the original owner. I bought it off my parents last year. Hyundai said that makes the warranty null and void. Ugh!

    The 2004 Santa Fe has a 100K warranty on it if you kept up up scheduled maintenance. Mine acted similar to yours although it was running at almost no power. The shifting problem was transmission related and covered and it needed two manifolds. One was also part of the power train coverage but the more expensive manifold was about $1600.     Sounds like Sante is approaching the end of the line. I wouldn't trust any vehicle with 100K+, especially Hyundai. My 2010 will be long gone before that number.

    The Hyundai Santa Fe uses a distributorless ignition system (DIS) in all its engine types so there is no distributor cap and rotor to check. The precat seemed to be a good place to start since only the 3 cylinders above it were misfiring.

    I found out that the cabin air filter, was never installed at the factory, for santa fes, up to & including the 2004 ( tsb 03-97-003 ) (they also say, it is not a warranty issue, that it is a maintenance issue ) I believe it should be addressed as part of the vehicle purchase ( I bought it new ) I have e-mailed hyundai customer satisfaction, for an explanation.

    How many miles do you have? You have the 2.7 enginer right so it is a belt? There may be two belts to replace by the way. The 3.3 engine has a chain.

    Good luck with Hyundai Motor Americas.. we had the same problem on a 2004 Santa Fe and they repeatedly insisted that our problem was with the dealer and refused to assist in any way.

    You might want to purchase a Sylvania SilverStar High Performance lighting. (Bulb type 9003ST) Any other brand will be bulb type (9003) for you high/low beam not H3. You can go to Sylvania.com and look it up under Consumer Products then to Automotive Lighting. Hopefully this will help you.

    Also note that the Hyundai's DVD entertainment system is currently available, whereas it is not on the Mazda Uhhh, yeah it is... Just check the catalog at Mazdausa.com or your local Mazada dealership for a brochure. :P On a side note; the AWD is rated at 19 city - 24 hwy, real world figures are still coming in on the fwd.
