This is a follow-up to my previous submission. This model is in its infancy. I cannot speak for others, but mine is seriously lacking in structural rigidity. The Sun roof creaks at low speeds and on uneven pavement. It has noticeable flexion about its long axis. At speed on very smooth pavement it is fine. The front suspension doesn't match the rear at speed when pitching it around...it doesn't have the feeling of being engaged regardless of input. It has a rather squirmy feel to it on uneven pavement. The engine is in serious need of mid range torque and the gear ratios need to be rethought entirely. Not a bad boulevard cruiser as long as the pavement doesn't challenge it's structure.

Favorite Features

Exterior and interior styling are still good.

Suggested Improvements

Change the transmission and final drive ratios that allow its extant horsepower to be used more effectively. The structural rigidity isn't consistent with a true sports car. Definitely, ditch the rear seats in favor of a more functional hatch. Lag time on the paddle shifters is excessive.

Review

Until I test drove this car, I couldn't imagine buying a Hyundai. But as soon as I got behind the wheel, I fell in love. Being Hyundai's first rear-wheel drive car, their first real sports car (Scoupe/Tiburon don't count), I expected a lot less. The turbo gives the car a "peppy" feel you don't get with the V6. The exterior styling is unique and almost exotic. You could probably slap an Aston, Infiniti, or Lotus badge on it and it wouldn't look out of place. Road trips are a blast -- it's quieter than my Jaguar X-Type, and it handles like an M3. This is by far my favorite car I've ever had.

Favorite Features

The seats and dash -- seats are cloth but they're not cheap looking, or uncomfortable, and they hug you around fast turns, and the dash and overall design feels like a cockpit. Exterior styling -- very beautiful and rather unique. Doesn't look like a Hyundai at all. Enginge/turbo -- very peppy

Suggested Improvements

The clutch spring is really tight, making feathering the clutch difficult when starting from a stop. The ECU also causes the engine to hang at higher RPMs, so if you shift fast (1->2, 2->3, 3->4), the synchros will take a lot of wear and tear. Also a telescoping steering wheel would be nice.

I always look forward to pressing the automatic start button and driving this WONDERFUL CAR of mine! The way she handles the road is simply phenomenal... even if it's just maneuvering through a grocery store parking lot! My acquqa minerals blue beauty actually makes the drive to work every morning a stimulating experience!

Favorite Features

The push button starter and being able to keep the keys in my pocket while I unlock her with just one press of a little button are a great convenience! But the BEST thing is the way this car handles like a hot knife through butter...whoa...the feel of the wheel is my hands is fantastic!

Suggested Improvements

Normal acceleration is pretty good but there are times that this turbo should have much better acceleration. I think I should have opted for the V6. The gas mileage should be better. I also feel that there should be a coin holder and small storage compartments like in a Sonata. Otherwise, GREAT CAR.

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track 2dr Coupe (3.8L 6cyl 6M)

Review

I ordered my 3.8 Gen Coupe in Feb of 2009 and didn't get it until July of 09. Why? Hyundai underestimated demand for the car and ran out of limited slip diffs on 3.8's. Now I know why. The Gen Coupe is a MONSTER ride, and a complete departure from previous Hyundai vehicles, including the modest Tiburon V6 Tuscani. It's a loud-mouthed monster that VERY much hates being driven slow. In fact, driving around in normal city traffic can be a bit less comfortable than opening it up outright. Once you're out of 2nd gear, the car shines. It's responsive as hell, it's 0-60 is fantastic for a company's first time RWD car, its features are great, and it turns heads like a Ferrari.

Favorite Features

The aggressive body styling is yay or nay, but you'll find the majority of the population can't stop gawking at it with pure adoration. It's exhaust note is aggressive and fun, and it tears away like lightning once you've got the hang of the stiff gearbox. Shifting will take 2 weeks of practice.

Suggested Improvements

More power, plain and simple. Bringing this baby up to 350 HP would be preferable. Next year's model would benefit from a V8 option. Slightly better suspension won't hurt either (my Canadian GT combines the Grand Touring options with a Track suspension). VERY little to gripe about!

Gets Lots of Attention!

Review

A beautiful car that gets lots of attention. Handles very well. Gas mileage isn't as good as advertised but not bad for a sports car. Poorly- designed front bumper as it catches on every parking curb - has been ripped off once and scrapes every time. Auto body shop says he sees this car for same problem frequently. Brake pad rumbles/vibrates when coming to hard stop. Blue Tooth Technology not so good - takes too long to engage the cell phone. Otherwise, I've really enjoyed the car.

Favorite Features

Love the showy wheels, sun roof, and blue interior lighting. The lines on the outside define it and make it look more expensive that it is! Great look and good quality for the price.

Suggested Improvements

Design the front bumper so that it goes over standard parking curbs! Fix brake so that it doesn't vibrate with sudden stops. Fix Blue Tooth Technology so that it engages cell phone faster. Fix speakers so as not to hiss when volume turned up.

Review

I am the proud owner of the first Genesis Coupe in Montgomery, and can honestly say it's my all-time favorite car for many reasons. I wasn't even shopping for a car for myself, but was asked to sit in the new coupe at the dealer. When I did, I was absolutely impressed by the total interior environment and had to drive it. A mile later I had to own it, and eight months later have been completely happy with its nimble handling, its impressive acceleration at any speed, and its brilliant automatic transmission that knows exactly what gear I want it to be in at all times! Great around town and on road trips! Oh, did I mention its ability to turn heads? I love it!

Favorite Features

Great seats that hold me comfortably for hours, great power, agile handling, superb styling. Look, besides being a real attention- getter, it's just great FUN to drive!

Suggested Improvements

It would hold more if a hatchback. Also, make the trip computer and radio settings easier to use. My wife would like the passenger seat to have the same kind of motion as the driver's.

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 2dr Coupe (3.8L 6cyl 6A)

Review

I purchased the 3.8 Genesis Coupe on 9/19/09 and have enjoyed every minute behind the wheel. The acceleration is excellent as is the ride - very smooth. I get 29 mpg on the highway and 25 in city driving. Once I adjusted the seat to my liking, everything is fine. My only complaint is the console between the seats - it continuously pops up! It's annoying but until I take the car in for servicing I've learned to live with the problem. Taking curves at high speed is nothing but fun. I've never had a vehicle with such power and this car is what I've been looking for. I've received thumbs up from the police as well as average drivers who can't believe it's a Hyundai.

Favorite Features

Excellent mileage; comfortable headrests; good steering capabilities; instantaneous acceleration; great appearance.

Suggested Improvements

Fix the top of the console so it doesn't pop up; too many buttons for someone not very hi-tech.

Review

I think it's safe to say I found the car of my dreams, although there are a few things about the car that aren't perfect. Lets start with the power of this car: it's an absolute beast when you push it around. This is one massive V6 that even trumps the brand new Camaro's and competes with cars that cost twice as much and it uses regular fuel to power it yet is smooth, comfortable and reasonably quiet when cruising on a freeway. The styling gets looks from everyone around it and many people who owns G37s and 335is are astonished at the flowing H logo that is attached to it. If you are looking for a sports car that doesn't skimp on features for less than $30k, do NOT count this car out.

Favorite Features

Exterior styling, value, excellent handling, comfortable leather seats, simple and effective controls, abundant standard features, powerful V6, RWD, regular gas, exhaust note, Bluetooth, USB connector, effective traction control, great safety features, best warranty in America, and great cupholders!

Suggested Improvements

Tons of hard plastic inside, average MPG, buggy USB connections, cramped back seats, very narrow trunk space and rear window, sluggish shifts in auto mode, steering wheel feels like hard vinyl, trip computer buttons are poorly placed, getting the right seat and side mirror positions takes time.

Review

I have owned my new Genesis Coupe for just over a month now, and it turns heads! My co-workers and friends all want to know what it's like to drive and are thrilled by it's looks. Until last night I had only good things to say about it -- Apparently there was some road debris on the highway and some of it managed to find my right rear tire. I not only suffered a flat tire, but also a punctured rim, which makes me question the quality of the rims. Even the Service manager said he had never seen that before. So 33 days, and a $750 bill later, I hope I made the right choice by buying the Genesis Coupe...

Favorite Features

Intuitive driver information display.

Suggested Improvements

Better rims!

i absolutely love the styling of the vehicle that is why i bought it. i have received quite a few raving compliments on it already. gas mileage is 29 on highway and about 20 in town which averages to about 24 when driving both. it definitely feels like a sports car. my only regret is that i did not buy the top of the line. money was tight and i didn't feel justified spending too much (i bought the 2.0 premium, but i really, really wish i had spent more to get the bigger engine, the fog lights, side mirror lights, etc. i was able to have a spoiler added to the premium package by the dealer and the spoiler really makes the car look great. nothing else out their compares!

Favorite Features

automatic off lights were a must, love not being able to lock your keys in car, i have been saved a couple times already, blue tooth voice command phone, uses regular gas, warranty/qualty for the $, styling, gas mileage for sports car, sun roof, keyless entry

Suggested Improvements

trunk should have been made a hatchback (like my old Eclipse) would have made access so much better, no change tray, headrests are too far forward, black interior shows dirt too easy and there was no other option, blind spots are bad but styling would be ruined if they tried to fix them.
