Is There Room in the Luxury Market for Hyundai?

Re: Huh? [carolinabob]

Thanks for the summary of Professional opinions on the Genesis sedan. Here's the net-net of those opinions: * Consumer Reports: Top-rated car in its price class and CR "Recommended". * Motor Trend: 2009 COTY runner-up. From the July 2009 review of the 3.8: Badge snobs will probably stay away, but those interested in a great entry-level luxury car will not be ... Read More...

Re: Huh? [wayne52]

Wayne, unlike some on this forum you appear to be sincerely interested in learning as much as you can about a vehicle. If so, you are the reason why I continue to post and subject myself to attacks from the very few. If you go back to the beginning of the 2009 Genesis forum and even to this one, you will find many, many different people complaining about the ride/suspension ... Read More...

Hyundai Genesis Sedan 2009-

Long Term update...

Date: October 2009 Miles: 16,000 Last winter we picked the Hyundai Genesis sedan as our 2009 MotorWeek Driver's Choice Best Luxury Car. And now, 8 months into our long term test, we have no regrets. Indeed, the Genesis has exceeded our expectations in quality fitment, with a warm, welcoming use of materials and space, as well as a refined driving response. With ... Read More...

Is There Room in the Luxury Market for Hyundai?

Re: reality [carolinabob]

So you don't like the way the 2009 Genesis (I assume you haven't driven the 2010 model yet) rides. Fine. You don't like the interior. Fine. You don't like HMA's customer service. Fine. You should buy a car you like, from a company that gives you an acceptable level of service. Why add the sweeping (and inaccurate) generalizations about the credit of Hyundai buyers? Read More...

Re: sandwiched between the Taurus SHO and the Avalon Limited [steve_]

I've only been in one car, a Lexus, that had cooled seats. It was OK but I could do without it. In MN, heated seats (with leather) are much more useful. I am a bit surprised Hyundai didn't add the cooled passenger seat for 2010. Lack of that feature was noted by quite a few owners in their reviews--many more than noted a problem with the suspension. Yet they tweaked the ... Read More...

Hyundai Genesis Lease Questions

Re: 2010 v 2009 [lhatten]

Greetings lhatten. Hyundai's October buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2010 Genesis Sedan V6 with 15,000 miles per year are .00149 and 51%, respectively. The numbers for an otherwise identical lease of a 2010 Genesis Sedan V8 are .00112 and 48%. Hyundai's October buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month ... Read More...

Is There Room in the Luxury Market for Hyundai?

Re: Stand Alone Dealers and Luxury car success [captain2]

divSlapping a "Genesis" badge on the trunk makes a Genesis (presto/change-o) a luxury car, right? * BMWs are commonly sold alongside $16k econo-hatchbacks, thus BMWs are not luxury cars, right? - no slapping a 'Genesis' badge on the car doesn't in itself change anything, but anything that would serve to distance the car from its more mundane heritage can't ... Hyundai Genesis Sedan 2009-

Genesis ride

Ok, now I've driven both a V6 and a V8 version of the 2009 Genesis. I still haven't driven a 2010, so my comment only applies to the older version. In my opinion, the Genesis is a beautiful car, the engine and transmission are well matched, the interior is gorgeous...but, the ride is awful. Both cars were equipped with18 inch wheels, the terrible Dunlop tires (very ... Read More...

Hyundai Genesis Lease Questions

My actual lease cost: 2009 3.8 w/tech

I just leased a 2009 3.8 Genesis w/tech from Capitol Hyundai in San Jose with the following terms: MSRP $40180 Cap cost $36700 (~$600 below invoice) MF 0.00019 Residual 46% Wear/tear coverage $603 Payment $507 + tax Had a very smooth experience with these guys, and they were much more responsive than other dealers in the area. They have a few more 2009 left I think. ... Read More...
