40 MPG?
By jouett on
Vehicle
2011 Hyundai Elantra Limited 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 6A)
Review
I've had my 2011 Limited for two months, and just under 2,000 miles. Traded an '09 Accord EX. Like the looks inside and out, and for the price, think it's very well equipped. My only negative remark so far is with the advertised 40 mpg estimate. I understand all the variables that go into the final average fuel numbers. Driving conservatively on 30 mile r/t per day, I've not seen 30 mpg yet. Prior to the Honda was an '03 Corolla that did provide 30+ mpg. I'm hoping this one improve with time.

You are not the only one. I reported the fuel economy problem to Hyundai last month. Below is their reply: Dear Xxx Yyy: Thank you for contacting Hyundai Motor America. We appreciate your patience while we conducted research regarding the fuel economy provided by your 2011 Hyundai Elantra. To learn more about fuel economy and ways to decrease your fuel consumption, you can visit http://www.fueleconomy.gov. Although you have received information from a Hyundai technician, we recommend you schedule an appointment with the service department of an authorized Hyundai dealership to have your Elantra inspected and diagnosed, as they are the best trained and most qualified to service your Hyundai. This information has been documented in Case # nnnnnnn. Your Case # can be referenced if we can provide further assistance. Thank you for contacting Hyundai Motor America.
