2011 Hyundai Elantra Sedan Limited 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 6A)

Review

I bought the car used eight months (9500 miles) ago. The style is nice, the price was right, and it has lots of desirable features.. However, the gas mileage is poor, generally about 24 mpg, with 80% on city streets and 20% on California's freeways. The highway ride quality is barely tolerable. Even with new tires and wheel balancing there's considerable bouncing and vibration.

Favorite Features

The style is great and the features - GPS, bluetooth phone - are appreciated.

Suggested Improvements

The ride quality is atrocious. Going over a speed bump at five mph is jolting, and the constant, jittery bouncing on concrete freeways is annoying.

2011 Hyundai Elantra Sedan GLS 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 6A)

Review

I got this car in May 2011 with only 10 miles on it. At 63,xxx miles the wheel bearings went out, on the driver side then 65,xxx the left side. at 85,xxx spark plugs and computer update. Now at 94,xxx miles the drive train broke. I have a 100,000 mile warranty so its covered. But this car is sluggish at times and the gas milage isn't all that. I average 32 mpg. I drive mostly highway some city. Lots of backroads and hills. The car dents very easy with door dings galore and a small hail storm got the best of it. I found putting V-Power gas in it makes it run alot better. (cost alot more though) and the seats stain with just water.

Favorite Features

cute appearance looks sporty but fits a family frinedly. good size trunk, I can haul alot in this trunk. Enough leg room for adults in the back and plenty of headroom as long as you are not over 6 foot tall. I like the hand free talk.

Suggested Improvements

The vents need an off button. If everything is on -0- no air should blow out but it does, you have to turn the individula vent off. The seats should have a stain guard on them.

2011 Hyundai Elantra Sedan Limited 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 6A)

Review

Review based on 41000 leased driving miles in SE Wisconsin. No major mechanical problems. One recall repair for defective airbag headliner support bracket. Scheduled maintenance costs low. Ride somewhat noisy and rough, including side-to-side jostling over stretches of rough roads. Poor performance in snowy/slippery conditions (could have been a tires issue). Maneuverability excellent. Feature set excellent - an amazing value for the money. Beautiful exterior styling - got lots of compliments on the car. Interior comfortable, fairly roomy and well designed. Outstanding fuel economy (low to mid 30's combined city/highway). I would recommend this car.

Favorite Features

Favorite features include overall fuel economy, maneuverability (very small turning radius makes parking and tight u-turns a breeze), heated front AND REAR seats that heat quickly, keyless FOB with push-button start (very convenient for opening trunk or unlocking doors with a touch of the hand), light blue exterior color somehow never looked dirty, great Bluetooth connectivity with iPhone, backup camera with green/yellow/red distance markings, heated exterior mirrors.

Suggested Improvements

I wish the car had a quieter, smoother and more confident ride - especially in snowy/slippery conditions, power seats (at least for the driver), an auto-dimming mirror, and a better navigation system (often could not find addresses I entered - I eventually used a GPS app on my iPhone instead). Tan leather seats showed dirt and wear from use. I would choose a darker color leather next time.

Review

i have seen multiple comments online about the elantra blowing smoke. i have had the same problem, almost causing an accident on the freeway at 65 mph. people were swerving behind us. the dealership said we were blowing the carbon out, but we were doing 65 mph for quite a long time before i had to go into passing gear to change lanes to get off the freeway. Who do we escalate our complaint too ?

2011 Hyundai Elantra Sedan GLS 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 6A)

Review

I love this vehicle. I am leasing this vehicle and would love to own it. Thinking of purchasing it or even rolling my new lease to another, newer Elantra. Overall, this car is excellent and has been very reliable. Hyundai has stood by their advertisements with the fuel-efficiency even though they give me a check for every five thousand miles due to a suit pressed against them for failed fuel-efficiency. I live in the city and drive highways daily. I get 38-40.5 MPG Highway and/ or 30-35 MPG City. I drive 60 miles give or take a day.

Favorite Features

My favorite features: * color of interior * sound system * Bluetooth * Storage * Fuel-efficiency * lots of leg and head space

Suggested Improvements

I absolutely hate the seats. While they are comfortable, the fabric on them stains even with a drop of water. My seats look as if I laid greasy foods. I loved the color of the seats but not now. I would like to see an improvement to the bluetooth. Sometimes is won't pick up my voice due to my accent I guess. Sometimes If my husband is traveling behind me, his phone (which has been synced in my vehicle once before and is not the priority phone) will bleed through my speakers. I absolutely hate the machine Hyundai has offered to air up flat tires instead of giving a spare tire. I have had to replace it more than once! Would love to see automatic lights at night.
