Best First Car EVER!
Vehicle
2006 Hyundai Elantra GLS 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 5M)
Review
So i was looking into getting a car, and came across the Elantras. These cares are THE best. I have been getting about 30mpg in town and 39 on the freeway. The manual is so nice and is very peppy. It is very fun to drive around town and mess around in. The response time is great! Also i keep getting comments from my friends saying that it is very comfortable and how they love the sound quality! The sound is amazing! I love how they actually come with 2 subs installed in the back. Also the tweeters and subs in the front. Well put together. This car is a solid car and a great one! I would reccomend this car to anyone! I have not had any problems and love this car to death. You should buy one.
Favorite Features
Great Sound, Excellent handleing, Very Comfortbale, love the power everything, Very hot and very cold when you want it to be! AC works wonders!
Suggested Improvements
none, this car is perfect!

2006 Hyundai Elantra GLS 4dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl 4A)
Review
Car is well equipped for money compared to other car companies but the fabric on seats has poor durability and the noise from road is loud in hatchback model unless you are on very good pavement. Traction on snow wasn't as good as equally equipped front drive cars from other car companies I've driven.
Favorite Features
Hatchback is helpful for packing bigger items over sedan.
Suggested Improvements
Better fabric and soundproofing. Give Canadian customers also a 10 year warranty not just 5.
So far, so good

Have to say it's a good car for the money. Others complained about tires, but mine came with Michelins which were replaced just recently (I have 45K on the car). Brake pads replaced 1x so far, & just now need new battery. Only complaint is driver side wiper fails (loosens) when icy snow builds up (living in MA, this is gonna happen). Dealership told me Hyundai designed wiper to fail rather than ice buildup making wiper motor burn out. If this is true, why didn't they make it so the passenger side wiper fails when it ices up rather than driver's side? Also had weird problem with brake lights staying on, but was just a stuck switch. Dealership fixed at no cost as it was covered under warranty
Favorite Features
Extras that came standard such as power windows/locks/mirrors.
Suggested Improvements
Model has undergone change since '06, so can't suggest improvements, but hopefully the problem with the driver side wiper freezing up and loosening has been resolved. If Hyundai does do that so the wiper motor doesn't burn out, make it so the passenger side wiper loosens & stops working, not driver.
Terrible Trade in Value

I tried out this vehicle on newly paved roads for the test drive. This in hindsight did not prepare me for later driving in other road conditions. The car was reasonably quiet on good pavement but if you go on older coarser pavement the road noise in the hatchback was bad.
Favorite Features
Well outfitted from factory
Suggested Improvements
Seat fabric is not durable, wears quickly. Gas mileage no better then bigger cars such as my Camry. Americans get a 10 year warranty but Canadians get a 5 year warranty and trade in value is terrible even at Hyundai dealers.
better than a corolla

I agree its not the best looking car but its worth all the money I paid for it. I have driven this car to Las Vegas many times, so yes its comfortable and I make it in less than a tank of gas. Everything on the car still works perfect. My car has 35,000 miles on it and I've had it for 3 yrs I just had to change the tires. I've had no problems with it. It runs and looks new. I also have a 2002 elantra that runs perfect I also bought that car new and I'm now handing it down to my sister cause her corolla already broke down 5 times and she just got it 2 yrs ago.
Favorite Features
Driving it at 80 mph from San Diego ca. To Las Vegas and using less than a tank of gas
Suggested Improvements
the dashboard could use some help it looks too plain

Hyundai--No Way #2!
Vehicle
2006 Hyundai Elantra GLS 4dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl 4A)
Review
Had to replace rear brakes at 23,000 miles. Had to replace a all four tires at 23,000. Had to replace the battery at 25,000...all at own cost. The 2 shocks and 2 struts had to be replaced twice at 29,000 because the factory parts were also defective! (fortunately the shocks and struts were under warranty). If you are going to buy a cheap car to save money like I did, try a different manufacturer.
Favorite Features
gas mileage
Suggested Improvements
Improve seat design so that you can tolerate a trip over 1 hour in duration. Most importantly, make the car more reliable.

Great Car for the money
Vehicle
2006 Hyundai Elantra GLS 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 4A)
Review
My little 2006 Elantra is a great car for the money. It has great acceleration in fact some of friends get fooled and think it has a V6 when it is only a 2.0 L engine. I love this car it gets 37 mpg on the freeway and 26 city not bad for this car. My only complaint was the tires they only lasted 33,000 miles but for the price of the car I can't complain it out lasted my cousins more expensive corolla which left her sit a few times so all and all its a great car
Favorite Features
Good pick up and great acceleration for passing
Suggested Improvements
better tires

This car handles well and at the same time rides very comfortably on the road. Sporty feel without the roughness of a true sports car. Nice combination.
Favorite Features
The engine is delightful. 138hp seems conservative; acceleration is brisk at any speed.
Suggested Improvements
The quality of the interior cloth could be better, but considering the purchase price this is not a big negative. It's acceptably nice.

Hyundai NO way!
Vehicle
2006 Hyundai Elantra GLS 4dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl 4A)
Review
Such poor quality, It rides like a buck board and so much road noise it's deafening. The radio has a hissing that is growing with age. The cheap battery didn't even last two years. Cheap tires only lasted 26,000 mi. It has never seen 37 mpg not even on a flat road at 60 mph with no A/C. The 85 dollar drivers door gasket has disintegrated twice. I don't even drive it on a daily basis and the sea tbelt does not readily retract all the way. The seat springs are already starting to go. In the smallest amount of snow and Ice it gets stuck. The body is of such cheap metal It collapsed when I accidentally closed the hatch on the XM antenna. In dry so cal climate the steel wheels are already rusting
Favorite Features
the full power package but who knows how long it will all work.
Suggested Improvements
Melt them all down and try again, they are a waste of the cheap plastic and tin cans used to make them. I bought it because at the time Hyundai had the best mileage warranty,But at its rapid rate of overall decay I doubt it will last much more than the 100,000 mile warranty.

Hyundai Elantra a bargain.
Vehicle
2006 Hyundai Elantra GLS 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 4A)
Review
This car has been full of surprises. 33mpg hwy, 26-27mpg town. Cruises at 100mph easily on the highway. (Yes, 100mph. Easily.) The ride on the highway is much smoother than one would expect, but when pushed at a brisk rate the car still handles very well, never leaving you feeling out of control. Good brakes. Also, no rattles. No squeaks. Very good quality of build.
Favorite Features
The 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine is marvelous. A great combination of more- than-adequate power and great fuel economy. My wife says she loves the cupholders in the back.
Suggested Improvements
The interior cloth is not top notch, although it is comfortable and serviceable.
