Engine Fire...2007 Azera
By gsuroviec on
2007 Hyundai Azera Limited 4dr Sedan w/XM (3.8L 6cyl 5A)
I owned this car for 3 years.
I am 2nd owner.
The 2nd owner only gets 5 year, 60K mile warranty.
I was about 3 weeks past the 5 years when the engine caught on fire while sitting in a parking lot, turned off.
It was a total loss... and also for others parked near by...as they too lit up.
The fire started in the very front of the engine compartment.
Hyundai denied any assistance or responsibility for the engine fire.
They were not interested to investigate.
I am just so thankful it happened out in the open, rather than back in my attached garage.
I will never own another Hyundai or Kia again.
I value my safety and that of my family first.
This just happened to me today!!!!! My 2007 Hyundai Azera caught on fire. It had been sitting for at least 1.5 to 2 hours in a covered parking lot before it happened. It's toast. The engine exploded and blew up the hood at the corners. Lucky everything didn't do up. Pretty nuts!!.
* News Flash * - I own a 2007 Hundai Azera with roughly 65k on it. Last evening after my son got home from work around 6pm (11/22/2014) he went off to bed. Around 10pm he hears a banging and screaming outside the front door. He jumps out of bed and in his shoe less feet, in almost single digit weather in the middle of the night up here in the high desert of Albuquerque, New Mexico, runs out the door to my Azera (which he was driving temporarily for work) parked in his driveway, and the thing was just flaming. Car was off, hadn't been driven in hours, just SITTING IN THE DRIVE with everything off except of course the alarm was engaged. I find out this morning (as I was long in bed when this all went down), went over and saw the carnage for myself. How did this happen? WHY did this happen to a vehicle that was in tip-top shape, low miles for its year, all maintenance up to date - pristine condition?? Spontaneous combustion?? HOW does something like this happen? Can you imagine my son being IN THE CAR going down the freeway and this happening? It's so bizarre the way this fire took place - the whole middle of the car was practically untouched, just the front end and engine, and trunk area. Lucky it didn't explode with the part of the blaze that was over the gas tank! Pics posted here: http://tinyurl.com/k8ur2fw
