I really like my Accent.
It is fun to drive and quite comfortable.
But . . . the radio display LCD is terrible!
There is very little contrast in the display of dark gray and light gray, and there is no brightness control.
This may be petty, but I'd like to be able to see the clock (hidden in the upper right corner), rather than the radio station that I've been tuned to for the last two hours.
Does anyone else have a problem with the display screen?
Easy access to all controls.
Fun to drive.
Add contrast/brightness controls to LCD display and give driver the option of what should be displayed as a default, i.e. time, station, CD track, etc.
Another car review site likened the radio to a cheap stopwatch, but for night drives it's both poor contrast and too bright (likely part of the contrast problem).
Yes, you can press Display to turn the screen off, but as soon as you relight it by changing station or volume, it stays on with no timer circuit/code to turn back off for you.
Accent forum members have discussed using tinting, tinted film, etc.
I've put photo filters in front of it on my rental, and in photo terms it's about 1 stop too bright compared to the main instrument panel.
I like the blue letter lights in general but I suspect KIA got it right on the Rio using orange, which is easier on the eyes at night.
