PS: Still no answer as to whether the cars that ranked ahead of the Accent in CR are better "values" either eh??? You didn't ask that specific question before, but in terms of the hatchbacks, I think the Accent is a better value than the pricier (when comparably equipped) Rio5, although people who need five doors may disagree. So by your logic, is the Honda a better value? How about the others that finished ahead of the Accent? We all get that you are hopelessly biased towards Hyundai, but how about some CRITERIA regarding value? I'll offer some of mine again: 1) Reliability. The Accent SE has ABS standard. That was the car that Edmunds reviewed and which is the subject of this discussion. I think you answered your own question on the Scions--they're dead (Jim) in their present form anyway. But you're right, they do have ABS standard. But not side bags/curtains, as does the Accent (not even available on the xB). Read More...

We just purchased the same, (2007 accent hatch SE, manual tran) however its too early to tell as well. 'Minor' issue keeping me from driving it after just 60 miles of ownership. Gear shift was occasionally kicking out of 4th gear and into neutral. Dealer was able to replicate it and now I'm the proud owner of a new tranny that is being expressed ship from Korea. Thank goodness I live in MN! I would never even think of driving a car that fast here, unless someone in the car was really ill and we needed to get to a hospital--and then I don't care how loud the engine is! They need to do a better job on the basic facts, for example: * The Accent's competitors do NOT offer the same equipment as on the Accent SE, at least for anywhere near the price of the Accent SE.
