Will new IIHS scores change your buying decision?
New IIHS scores are out for "mini-cars" Yaris, Fit and Versa scored highest (Versa receiving "good" in all 3 areas) Accent/Rio received embarassingly low scores for cars equipped with SAB: Acceptable, poor, poor (Hyundai should be ashamed selling a 2007 model that does so poorly) So, do these scores change anyone's opinion? Does the fact that the cost difference ... Read More...

Re: Why KBB,Edmonds, NADA, Black Book??? [germancarfan1]
First, I mentioned in the post you replied to that I sold my Elantra in a private-party sale. Second, Edmunds.com's current TMV for a a private-party sale for that car, but 9 months after I sold it, is $5173. It was right around $5900 when I sold it. $700 depreciation in 9 months is not too bad IMO. And I don't think the buyer got "ripped off"; she was very pleased with ... Read More...

Terrible resale values? Nope, no longer. 5 of the 10 cars on the top 10 worst resale value list are made either by Hyundai or Kia (2006 Accent being #2). http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/list/top10/115613/article.html No longer, huh? Hyundai has a long, long way to go. Let us compare the trade-in values of a used 2006 Hyundai Accent versus that of a used 2006 ... Read More...
Re: Hyundia VS, Toyota [come on]!!!!! [brettes23] [boloti_troy] [lhanson] [germancarfan1]
My 5-1/2 year old Hyundai with 45k miles on it drove like new when I sold it to my sister this spring and was very reliable over those years. It demonstrates that when talking about cars and reliability, one data point is pretty meaningless. As is talking about 2002 Sonatas in a discussion about the 2007 Accent and Yaris. Read More...

Re: canuck [canuck785]
If you want to keep the price low and need A/C, you might look into a 1-2 year old Elantra 5-door--much more car than the Accent or Yaris. Tires are cheap, good replacements available for around $40. Hyundai dealers typically offer discounts, and this is a good time of year for you--year-end. There is no general rebate on the Accent now, and that may change in early ... Read More...
The 2007 Accent is a great car for you
for your age. Muscle cars are not where it's at. I like the economy cars much more and Hyundai does them well. So does Kia. They are now receiving some mainstream awards for their craftsmanship. I noticed it though on my 1999 Kia Sephia. There was something very desirable about that car and people let me know on the Internet that the car was a POS. Obviously I disagreed. ... Read More...
2007 features, availability
I just visited a local dealer to check out the Accent and Elantra - I actually drove to the very rear of the dealership so I could scope out the cars undisturbed. Naturally, the typical glad-handling, grinning salesman hunted me down and tried to sell me a car. I think he lied to me, too: I understand the Accent is just plain not available with cruise. The smarmy salesman ... Read More...

Re: A quote for you... [tjw1308]
Also, with respect to residuals, what do they mean in actual dollar values. For example, I buy an Accent and a Yaris for $14,000, after 5 years what will the value be for each of them, assuming they're in the same condition at 75,000 miles each. For example, I just went to KBB to see the private party selling value for a 2001 Corolla LE with 75,000 miles and it's $7085. ... Read More...
