Nice car, but problem with poor MPG
Vehicle
2007 Hyundai Accent SE 2dr Hatchback (1.6L 4cyl 5M)
Review
Much better car than previous model (traded in a 2001 hatchback 5-sp that we were overall very happy with, including good MPG): it looks good, is solidly built, fun to drive, and has a very nice interior. But right from the start, with mostly highway driving, we only got a poor 23-25 MPG (U.S. gal.). Looking at website reviews, most owners get the rated 35+ MPG, but 3 reviews describe the same problem and same answer by dealerships: a longer break-in is needed to get good MPG. Now, at 5000 miles (and after dealer tried fixing by changing spark plugs) MPG is still the same. Seems Hyundai may have a problem with a small percentage of Accents that they haven't yet figured out and/or admitted.
Favorite Features
Nice exterior styling, very comfortable interior for a small car, good ergonomics, excellent handling, fun to drive, solid build quality, many nice standard features
Suggested Improvements
Cargo cover doesn't lift up & go down with hatch as on most hatchbacks (e.g. previous Accent model) - it's inconvenient when loading groceries etc., and forget to lower it occasionally & then need to go back, open hatch and lower it... Cargo space is also significantly shorter than on old model.

One Fine Machine
Vehicle
2007 Hyundai Accent GS 2dr Hatchback (1.6L 4cyl 4A)
Review
This is one fine little car that does everything that I ask of it. It's not a drag racer, but it gets up to speed in a deceivingly smooth manner. It will cruise nicely on the freeways at 70+, and is agile in city traffic. Its size makes it easier to find parking a space. Hyundai packed a lot of room inside this coupe. Every instrument, knob and lever is located where the driver expects to find it. Gas mileage is excellent, as advertised. The air conditioning does its job well, and road noise is not an issue. At about $14K delivered, this car is inexpensive but it certainly is not "cheap." People can look at my little blue Hyundai coupe, but they will just have to go find their own!
Favorite Features
The overall quality of the car is excellent. I wanted a small, economic comfortable car with air conditioning and an automatic transmission for city and suburban driving. I've got it! As an unexpected bonus, it's great on the freeways too!
Suggested Improvements
Illuminated mirrors on the sun visors to keep female passengers happy.

Commuting is fun again
Vehicle
2007 Hyundai Accent SE 2dr Hatchback (1.6L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I commute fifty miles per day and this car makes it an event to look forward to every day. It has a very smooth shift and makes driving in and out of roundabouts a real kick. The sound system makes it a veritable "jukebox on wheels". The ride is smooth with catlike response in the steering and handling. The intertor design gives the driver easy acess to all of the switches and knobs.
Favorite Features
Smooth ride and responsive transmission
Suggested Improvements
A rear windshield wiper.

Excellent car for its money
Vehicle
2007 Hyundai Accent GLS 4dr Sedan (1.6L 4cyl 4A)
Review
At first, the car didn't really turn my head, but after driving it for a month, WOW, it's automatic and it gives me more than 30 miles per gallon, it's a drive so friendly and soft, you think you're in a car of a better class. And I found out the reasons why: independent suspension on the four wheels, CVVT fuel injection. Plus nice room and cup holders for every one, pretty nice stereo, all this for a low price. Driving it through curves and hills is very easy, though not a fast thrill, but it really drives like a small premium car.
Favorite Features
Easy, smooth, soft premium compact vehicle drive feeling, high seat giving good visibility, quality interiors for its class, better than bigger rivals, good in curves, very good stability, very good sound for its price, nice rooom inside, good trunk space and fuel economy, cup holders for every one.
Suggested Improvements
Bigger rim and wheels and if it had a 1.8 ltr engine for $13,500 it would be great!

Worth the Ride
Vehicle
2007 Hyundai Accent SE 2dr Hatchback (1.6L 4cyl 4A)
Review
Great car that fits my needs exactly. Sporty spitfire with built in economy and relatively comfortable environment. I don't see many SE's on the road but I get a lot of compliments on it.
Favorite Features
Once you get familiar with the car it is a peppy little car loaded with big car extras.
Suggested Improvements
A little more seating comfort; seats are a hard. Everything else is good.

Mileage NOT what I expected...
Vehicle
2007 Hyundai Accent SE 2dr Hatchback (1.6L 4cyl 4A)
Review
We've had the car a little more than a week and since we bought it specifically for the mileage... we're not impressed. We drive about 500 miles a week to/from work and was hoping for closer to 40 mpg than 30 mpg. Also, since these are mostly highway miles.. we really thought it would do better. Otherwise, we are pleased with the leg/head room, 'peppyness', and my husband said "It WILL do 120 mph" and handled very well while doing so... no 'floating'. It really stayed grounded.
Favorite Features
Shape... I call it "My Bubble"... It reminds me of a 'thought bubble' from a cartoon. Roominess, pep.
Suggested Improvements
Better gas mileage... no we don't always go '120'.

Nice Little Car
Vehicle
2007 Hyundai Accent GS 2dr Hatchback (1.6L 4cyl 5M)
Review
The car ride is exceptionly fine. Gas milliage is great. Seat interior is good. The dash components are position ok, except the millage trip button needs to be postion in another location for easy access. It is short on drivers foot room from the clutch pedal. Also interior molding is poor quality it scratches real easily.
Favorite Features
Handles great, fuel economy is the best feature.
Suggested Improvements
Better interior panels needed.

Beware Maybe?
Vehicle
2007 Hyundai Accent SE 2dr Hatchback (1.6L 4cyl 4A)
Review
After three days of driving my brand new car (200 miles) I noticed a delay in my transmission when I shifted it from reverse to drive. I also noticed the gas gauge went from full to empty way too quick. Took it in to the dealer and as per Hyundai's suggestion, the dealer replaced the transmission and gas tank sending unit. After 2000 miles the speedometer won't drop all the way to zero and the alignment is off. Broke my heart as this was my first new car I have bought in over twelve years. The dealer wouldn't replace the car when I took it in. Why would he he got his money? Hyundai said sorry, but that was it. Learned my lesson that Honda and Toyota are worth the premium price.
Favorite Features
6'3" driver with 110 daily round trip miles and I fit comfortably. Only payed 200 over cost.
Suggested Improvements
If a major part breaks within 200 miles, just replace the car and avoid bad press from a frustrated customer. Now people reading this rating will have to worry if the rater was just unlcky, full of sour grapes or if the car really is a lemon.

Love these cars
Vehicle
2007 Hyundai Accent SE 2dr Hatchback (1.6L 4cyl 4A)
Review
Bought my Accent SE on 9/23/06....almost to the day of my last Accent, a 2001 hatchback. These cars are extremely reliable. I have to get used to driving an automatic. But, have found this car pretty peppy and responsive. The SE is loaded with sunroof and CD(6). My previous Accent was very sporty and I just loved it. Talked my husband into getting the Elantra Limited. Now he's a fan! Never had a problem with my 2001. I expect the same from my 2007 Accent. I encourage everyone to check out these vehicles and test drive them before spending thousands more just because of a "name".
Favorite Features
Interior lighting, instrumentation design, location of radio/CD, got a great deal from my dealership, safety features, exterior style, tires/wheels, leather wrapped steering wheel/adjustable, sturdy seats.
Suggested Improvements
Could use a CD compartment. The Accent as a convertible??? Leather seats???
