Does anyone know if anyone besides Hyundai publishes repair manuals or CD Roms for a 2007 Hyundai Accent SE? I have a set of Hyundai shop manuals and I was just wondering if perhaps Chilton, Haynes, Etc. had manuals
Here's a link to Hyundai's press release about the 2008 Accent... 2008 Accent
My current mix of cars are a 2008 Mazda MX-5 (Miata) PRHT, a 2007 Honda CRV, and the 2006 Honda Civic. The only car that I might consider to replace the MX-5 is the upcoming Veloster. It has the same 1.6L GDI engine as the 2012 Accent/Rio so it should be spunky enough and a turbo version is lurking down the road. But that's another story. My first priority is to ... Read More
Does anyone know if there were any changes or improvements made to a 2008 Hyundai Accent from a 2007 model?
I've owned 3 Hyundais over the past 10-1/2 years: 2001 Elantra (sister owns it now), 2004 Elantra (still have it), and 2007 Sonata (wife's car). Note the two Elantras are two generations removed from the current car, and the Sonata is the prior generation. Even though Hyundais have improved with each new generation, these cars have been very reliable. I felt I was taking a chance on the 2001 Elantra back ... Read More
The Accent 3 door has probably the best styling in its class. I currently own a 2007 Accent SE which has four wheel disc brakes with ABS and EBD. It's a great little car BUT the only reason I have it is because back in '07 Hyundai dropped the 5 door Elantra (what I had before it was totaled). I never cared for the styling of the Rio 5. I've always ... Read More
Most Kias are a sales flop, relatively speaking. ;) When was the last time you saw an ad for the Rio5? I've never seen one in the history of the current generation, going back five years. I really don't remember how the ZX5 "flopped" compared to the ZX3. Maybe where you live, there are lots of young, single people who prefer 3-door hatches? Where I live, in the family-oriented Midwest, I ... Read More
Let's look at this from a practical POV... if Hyundai could sell 5,000 Accent 3-door hatches in the USA per month, it would be a no-brainer to offer one. The fact they probably will not offer one in the USA tells us they know they won't sell enough of them to make it worth their while. They're not stupid, and they're not a charity--they are in this for profit. If there's ... Read More
That's funny. I never heard of a loss leader in the new car business. Loss leaders are meant to pull you in to buy something else in ADDITION to the loss leader item. For example, the supermarket offers bananas at .10/ pound, knowing that while you're in their store you'll buy milk, bread, condoms, etc. at the not so loss leader like price. Thus stated, it isn't like you're gonna walk ... Read More
This comparison between Honda Fit & Hyundai Accent was pretty good. I only read the latter parts of the thread & didn't see any comparisons of the MPG of both cars. My wife's 2008 Accent, bought in Dec 2007 gave 30 to 32 thru the winter & rose just a bit as the weather warmed. I was a bit disappointed, thinking a Honda Fit might have given better MPG. Finally, I ... Read More
I really like the look of the Hyundai Accent Hatchback, and the price, and the warranty, etc. My biggest problem is the low mpg owners are getting. I currently own a 2007 Yaris Hatchback, and I am please with the mpg. I am considering another new car, but the Accent mpg should be better than it is.
I have no clue what all these other drivers have loaded in there hyundai accent hatchbacks? But I have a 2007 SE that I drive like an old lady on downers. I get 35 and sometimes 37 mpg. Yes you heard me correctly. I have to drive mostly up hill for 105 miles before getting on flat land when I drive back and forth to LA. I also must drive 40 ... Read More
Trendmonger you make it sound like a government conspiracy and they lied to you about your Hyundai's gas mileage. Keep in mind all the EPA does is test the vehicles in a similar manner on the same test conditions. The results should be relative to each vehicle so if vehicle one gets 20 and vehicle two gets 30, then some drivers might get 10 on vehicle one and 15 on vehicle ... Read More
I own three hyundais. 2 Accents (2002 and 2005) and a new Entourage (2007). Great value cars. The 2002 had engine warranty work done at 85,000 miles and they only charged me $15 on a $2000 bill. MPG may be a bit lower than a Vibe, Yaris or Fit but it would take years to recoup the difference. My five speed gets a solid 32 - 37 mpg depending on city/highway ... Read More
My wife has a new Accent...all because of me. Hope I purchased right altho we bought quickly when the Hyundai dealer gave us a price we weren't going to see with any other car including lifetime oil changes. Tried a Vibe & Yaris. We have had our 2007 GLS 4 Dour Auto w./ 15" Alloys since Novemeber and my commentary on MPG is.... EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED. The vehicle is primarily used 5 days a week city driving 8 Miles Each way and we are averaging between 15 & 16 MPG CITY. The car has 5,000 miles. We have had 3 Oil Changes and will be getting the fourth next month. The tires have been maintained ... Read More
We will be selling our 2007 Hyundai Accent, which has approximately 3,000 miles. The car had an unusual problem -- it came with a faulty engine. Part of the engine was just replaced -- the short block. Several months ago, the head gasket was replaced. The repairs were done under warranty. Assuming that our car's engine problems are now completely solved, I was wondering if anyone knows if having a new ... Read More
I have a 2007 Huundai Accent SE that I purchased 9/06. Since new, during initial start-up, the idle speed varies during the first 10 to 30 seconds, depending how cold the outside temperature is. Does anyone ... Read More
Our 2007 Hyundai Accent gets 40 percent worse mileage than it's supposed to. Since purchasing the car in December 2006, we've averaged 16.5 mpg in the city, instead of the rated 28 mpg. I know that mileage ratings are never as promised on the sticker, but our fuel efficiency seems excessively low -- and it's consistently low. Our Accent has 2,600 miles on it -- almost all city driving. Two other ... Read More
2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS. I am very impressed with that sedan and I'm getting around 20mpg city and 30mpg highway. This is good enough mileage for me but I know that many of you would prefer better than that. I just love the bodystyling done on this car. Since this thread is about the 2007 Toyota Yaris liftback vs. the 2007 Hyundai Accent I will say that I would probably lean ... Read More
the problem with the accent numbers is the tiny sample size. Yet you had no problem in your earlier post making generalizations about Yaris vs. Accent fuel economy using this small sample size. So if it's OK for you to do that, I guess it's OK for me to do that. Anyway, I'm not just generalizing based on the small sample size on fueleconomy.gov. I am also using as a base ... Read More
A couple of things about the fueleconomy.gov numbers: * There are only 7 ratings for the 2007 Accent AT and 3 for the MT. Not very large samples, compared to the samples for the 2007 Yaris. The samples for the 2006 Accent (the same car as the 2007 but in sedan form only) are even lower. * Note that the mpg's for the 2006 Accents are significantly higher than for the ... Read More
In case you hadn't noticed, Hyundais including the Accent are pretty darn reliable these days. I've owned two Hyundais so I can speak from some experience. They were as reliable as any other car I've owned, including three Toyotas. This isn't 1987, it's 2007 and times have changed. Is the Yaris immune to problems? Not from what I see in the Yaris discussions. At least when the Accent has a problem, ... Read More

Go immediately to your dealership and insist that they run a computer diagnostic on your Accent. 2007 Hyundai Accent GS hatchback stick with air...price paid: $12,300 (invoice). The buying experience was that same typical tense deceptive affair that I've come to expect of a new car purchase. yesterday, while paying our car insurances, I took the opportunity to ask our agent for quote on the 2007 hyundai accent GS. I already knew the quote on a Yaris was 54$/mth... well buckle up ppl, the accent was quoted at 81$/mth!!!!!! he explained that hyundai and kia are always more expensive to insured. i did some math and it would cost around 325$ more a yr to insure to accent ... The discussion is 2007 Hyundai Accent v 2007 Toyota Yaris Lift and not about Jeeps (sorry). Also, nix the personal attacks and comments. Keep it on topic and civil. Thanks!
New IIHS scores are out for "mini-cars" Yaris, Fit and Versa scored highest (Versa receiving "good" in all 3 areas) Accent/Rio received embarassingly low scores for cars equipped with SAB: Acceptable, poor, poor (Hyundai should be ashamed selling a 2007 model that does so poorly) So, do these scores change anyone's opinion? Does the fact that the cost difference between a safe car and the unsafest car is so small matter? ... Read More
First, I mentioned in the post you replied to that I sold my Elantra in a private-party sale. Second, Edmunds.com's current TMV for a a private-party sale for that car, but 9 months after I sold it, is $5173. It was right around $5900 when I sold it. $700 depreciation in 9 months is not too bad IMO. And I don't think the buyer got "ripped off"; she was very pleased ... Read More
Terrible resale values? Nope, no longer. 5 of the 10 cars on the top 10 worst resale value list are made either by Hyundai or Kia (2006 Accent being #2). http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/list/top10/115613/article.html No longer, huh? My 5-1/2 year old Hyundai with 45k miles on it drove like new when I sold it to my sister this spring and was very reliable over those years. It demonstrates that when talking about cars and reliability, one data point is pretty meaningless. As is talking about 2002 Sonatas in a discussion about the 2007 Accent and Yaris.
I did go back and look at your post. Here it is: brettes23, "2007 Hyundai Accent v 2007 Toyota Yaris Lift" #179, 12 Dec 2006 2:46 pm As you said, this forum is for INFORMATION. So why the personal attacks, e.g. "know it all"? Good luck with the Toyota selling.
If you want to keep the price low and need A/C, you might look into a 1-2 year old Elantra 5-door--much more car than the Accent or Yaris. Tires are cheap, good replacements available for around $40. Hyundai dealers typically offer discounts, and this is a good time of year for you--year-end. There is no general rebate on the Accent now, and that may change in early 2007 (speculation based on ... for your age. Muscle cars are not where it's at. I like the economy cars much more and Hyundai does them well. So does Kia. They are now receiving some mainstream awards for their craftsmanship. I just visited a local dealer to check out the Accent and Elantra - I actually drove to the very rear of the dealership so I could scope out the cars undisturbed. The smarmy salesman insisted the ... Read More
Also, with respect to residuals, what do they mean in actual dollar values. For example, I buy an Accent and a Yaris for $14,000, after 5 years what will the value be for each of them, assuming they're in the same condition at 75,000 miles each. For example, I just went to KBB to see the private party selling value for a 2001 Corolla LE with 75,000 miles and it's $7085. ... Read More
OK, so then you have four Yarii on the ground at your dealership with ABS and side bags--that's great! But only 12 in your entire region inbound in the next 3 weeks?? Here's a few third-party (i.e. people ... Read More
PS: Still no answer as to whether the cars that ranked ahead of the Accent in CR are better "values" either eh??? You didn't ask that specific question before, but in terms of the hatchbacks, I think the Accent is a better value than the pricier (when comparably equipped) Rio5, although people who need five doors may disagree. I think the Versa S is a lot of car for the money, ... Read More
So by your logic, is the Honda a better value? How about the others that finished ahead of the Accent? We all get that you are hopelessly biased towards Hyundai, but how about some CRITERIA regarding value? I'll offer some of mine again: 1) Reliability. Kicker you do realize that the GS has 14 inchers while the SE has 16. I was @ Hyundai last week looking @ this but I couldn't tell b/c all the cars come with the plastic covers covering the lugs. Seems as good as those SE wheels look, Hyundai would offer some alternative other than the plastic.
I see that since you can't make a case for the Yaris, other than it has a very good chance to be reliable and it has excellent fuel economy, you turn back to your same-old attacks on Hyundai in general. How about backing up your arguments with some facts, as I and others have done? Your attempts to extricate yourself from your errors of fact used to be amusing; now they ... Read More
The time frame you cited was NOW, as in present tense, as in "Toyota outsells [emphasis mine] Hyundai by a more than 20 to 1 margin worldwide." Clue me in as to which time period you had 20:1... Doesn't matter, we are talking about Accent vs. Yaris, not Hyundai vs. Toyota...you are being way off-topic here. Please go back and read what I said a couple of posts ago. You either didn't read it the first time, or conveniently ignored it. I agreed that the depreciation savings on the Accent could be made up by the gas savings on the Yaris. But there's also finance savings and repair savings. So using the example you reposted: Accent: $13,040 price + 6.5% tax + $300 license/fees (plug in your ... Read More
Let's have a look: "So the purchase prices for sake of this example are $13,040 (TMV less rebate) for the Accent and $14,950 for the Yaris (TMV, assuming no rebate). But the Accent actually cost $13,040. So over ... Read More
If you want to make this a discussion about which manufacturer has more awards (even recent ones), let's go... Why would we want to do that? See, I think it is pertinent seeing as they are BOTH "new" models. All we have to go off of is history, not just a 90 day "honeymoon" (people like new and shiny things haha). I accept that you define predicted reliability as you stated. I think that it's more reasonable though to measure predicted reliability based on the actual car. OK, I found the answer to my question. Hyundai is making a B&M sport shifter available as a dealer-installed option on the 2007 Accent hatchback, along with many other accessories such as a cold air intake and strut tower brace. Hello, Does anyone know what the maintenance schedule is for the 06-07 accent? I gather that the timing belt needs to be changed at 60k. The Fit can be had at MSRP, although some dealers are charging more. If you read the Fit Prices Paid discussion, you'll see many buyers having a Fit (sorry) for MSRP or even a little under. Compare a base Fit for $14,400 with a 2007 Accent GLS with comparable equipment (power package and ABS, and 14" steel wheels) for $14,095. Not much difference, and the Fit has much more versatility, better ... Read More
FYI from someone with some experience about Hyundai Accent sales mix -- in the 2005 model year the 3-door accounted for 50% of all Accent sales. The lack of a 3-door has certainly impacted Accent sales -- a situation now resolved with the arrival of the 2007 model year lineup. (Accent sales were up 43% in June.)
"I think the timing belt replacement cost on an Accent is quite a bit less than $600-800." Check the Accent forums. That price is accurate. My Hyundai dealer charged me $200 for a measely 15K service (I checked with 3 other dealers, ALL charge this). $350-400 are routine for 30K services and $600-800 for the 60K w/ timing belt change. $16,800 for an accent se, it seems to me thats a bit much. Precisely why I am waiting to see if Hyundai offers any rebates on the 2007 Accent. Kirstie, now that the 2007 Accents are out, should the title of this discussion be changed, maybe to "2006+ Hyundai Accent"?
Interior wise, I can see where Hyundai spent a lot of the money they charge you for this car. Everything fit well together and many things (like the sunglasses holder near the sunroof controls) opened with fluid precision. Very nice! 2007 Accent 3-door isn't at the dealers near me quite yet. I did see one GS when I was in Texas a couple of weeks ago. Since Hyundai said nothing about a 4-door SE version when they announced the 2007 Accent lineup, it doesn't look like there will be one coming in the near future.
Fact is that for the first half of the year Hyundai has not been shipping many 2 door models (always the most popular model). Considering availability and the fact that it was well known that a completely re-tooled 2007 2 door was on the way and the drop in sales is hardly surprising or alarming. I wouldn't look for a big rebound in the 2nd half of 2006 either as Hyundai ... Read More

After reading all the responses to your original post, I'm not sure if your question about the pricing of the 2007 Accent being lower was answered. Actually, for comparably-equipped cars, the GLS sedan is not priced lower. I would agree. Judging by the fact that the 2006 Accent WITH $1K in rebates isn't selling (sales down 26%), I'd imagine Hyundai will have to offer even greater incentives to move the 2007 Accent. I think it's rather obvious why it isn't selling well. 1. Hyundai's reputation (or lack there of). Many people assocoiate Hyundai with small, cheap, simple, and poorly put together cars. The Accent (being cheap and simple) are what people think of when they think Hyundai. The Azera and Sonata, and to some extent the Elantra can escape this mentality b/c they are larger, and more expensive cars. 2. Accent's reputation. Piss ... Read More
Hi: My first posting on the forums...Here's the situation..my dad is interested in buying the 2006 Hyundai GLS 4 Door Sedan...Last week, he went into his local dealership in Deerfield Beach, Fla and was very suprised to see absolutely no vehicles of this model in stock, whatsoever...All he had in stock was 1 2007 2 door Accent. He told my dad that because the vehicle was overpriced by Hyundai, as is ... Read More
What other subcompacts are available with the equipment the Accent SE has for under $15k? Because it is a Hyundai, the expectation is that it will cost significantly less than its Japanese competitors. So wait a bit. The '06 Accent has a $1000 rebate now. With a rebate like that and a good discount by the dealer, the SE would be under $13k. That is a good buy considering its equipment ... Read More
i guess hyundai has arrived as a competitor to the japanese auto makers and in doing so have seemed to forgot what made hyundai such an attractive alternative, the price. why someone would spend nearly 13k on an accent gs which is very very basic or 15k on an accent se both with subpar mpg is beyond me. considering that honda & toyota make a very reliable & cost effective product ... "it was the base model. very basic 5 speed. pick up was inadequate. rear seating was small. very noisy ride. mpg was nothing to write home about. and considering all this for nearly 13k, i think it was not weorth the wait " Since it was the base model dont they run just under 11k... are dealers marking up this guy 2k also? (in the market for a new hatch NOW ... Read More
test drove a 2007 accent suffice to say it was not a very impressive ride. hyundai can keep its 100k warranty, i think ill concentrate on the fit or yaris
I hope the Accent SE shows up soon. Drove by the local Hyundai "Superstore" today and the only Accent they had on the lot was a black 5-speed GLS sedan with no options. I wonder when Hyundai USA will update their website with build your own and color selections?
The 2007 Accent will be available in the near future. Hyundai can't get any more vague than that, can they! I think backy may be on to something. Look for the 2007 Accent on the last day of spring. The elusive SE will be seen by July 4th, though no one will have a camera to prove its existence and it will be treated as a figment of someone's imagination. :P ... Read More

The MSRP of a well-equipped 2007 Elantra may very well be $16k (note the MSRP of a stick Civic, Corolla, or Mazda3 with power package and full safety gear is $17k+). But that Elantra won't cost me $16k, unless I insist on buying one when the car first debuts. There will undoubtedly be rebates and discounts available that will bring the price down $2000 or more, based on recent history with ... Read More
You can bet that a decently equipped (with power toys and A/C) 2007 Elantra is going to cost you $16K+ (including destination). Look at the 2006 Accent...A decently equipped one ( and when I say decently equipped, all I mean is A/C and power) costs you an alarming $14,800. And thats for a fraking Accent! Edmunds didn't exactly find this class leading either in their recent review.
I hadn't thought about this car at all. I'm still shopping for a new car based on specs and working up a "gameplan" before I start to test drive cars at dealerships. Major factors for me in a new car are ability to play mp3s and as quiet a ride as these small cars can provide. The hyundai might be tops in the quietness category. From what I can tell it ... I sent an email to Hyundai consumer affairs with a request for an on-sale date for the 2007 Accent. I'll let you know if they give me any concrete information.
I have been waiting for this Accent GS 2007, for such a long time, that I am sick and tired, Eventhough I do not fit well in the Yaris hatchback,Iam 6'4", I am goint to buy this saturday. I fit better in the Fit ( I tried it )but the price is too much for such a small car. These Korean people are over estimating their new "Quality". Can't be like ... Read More
Has anyone been comparing these vehicles at all? I have been totally in love with the Yaris....looks especially and gas mileage... But I am drawn to the package of the new Accent which hopefully will be arriving soon. Anybody else considering these vehicles?
