Please let me know where you went in Richmond, VA. I'm in northeast OH, but willing to drive within a day's drive to get a decent price. I was looking at buying a 2009 Hyundai Accent after 7/23 with the CARS program, but of course the dealer had a great deal this week! I'm 5'1" and I just love our 1997 Accent. I started out at the dealership looking for a ... Read More

What happened to me was I was driving about 45mph and all of a sudden in heavy traffic my car downshifted on its own to like 1st gear and basically made me stop the car. I shut it off turned it back on and it was fine. Then also little bit later I was going from a ... Read More

  • Finally got to TEST DRIVE THE FIT!!!

I finally got to test drive the Blue honda fit (not the sport) and there were some things I like and some things I don't. But I want to point out that this is a Honda Fit Vs. Hyundai Accent thread. I currently own a Hyundai Accent and I will try and be as non-bias as possible. The Honda Fit, by far, is the most spacious small car I have ever ... Read More

Sometimes the fingers work faster than the brain. :) If you find any of those dash separations for the 1997 Accent (a totally different design than the '97 Sephia), feel free to post them in the "old" Accent discussion.

I kind of doubt your 1997 Kia Rio had that problem. Because there is no such thing as a 1997 Kia Rio. I searched on "1997 Accent dash" and scrolled through the first 10 pages before giving up. I found no mentions of any kind of dash-detaching problem in those pages. Maybe you could post a link or two in the discussion related to the Accent of that vintage.

"Don't let your perception and everything you read fool you Check out the real story yourself..." I guess having a 1997 Kia RIO where the dash completing detached itself while driving isn't "real" enough. Do a Google search and read many "satisfied" customers who had similar experiences with both the RIO and Accent of that year.

  • I love my Accent

    Written by: good4u on Feb 20, 2006 5:31:48 PM

I have a 2000 Hyundai Accent/automatic transmission/4 door. Bought it from a small dealership in town in May of 2004 with 40K. Has about 65K on it right now. Not one single problem. It shakes a little like any little car, but it is more reliable than any of our American-made cars. It's fun to drive, and it sounds "mean" when you accelerate really fast. Gas mileage is great! 35+ MPG, ... Read More

I have a 97 accent with almost 100k. All highway miles. Barely any street mileage. I love my little car. BUT...I have a knocking noise from my engine. REALLY LOUD. Don't know what it is. Put some of that silencing thing in there, but no hope. Do I need a new engine? Can anyone help?

  • Pros and Cons of Hyundai

I was interested in purchasing a 1997 Accent for 2500 and I was wondering if that is a good bargain. Also the life span of the car and if they face major mechanical problems.

  • new Accent $7,995

Several dealers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are advertising the $10,184 MSRP Accent (base hatchback with air and cassette I believe package #1?) for $7,995. Another dealer is asking $8,134, another is advertising the automatic version for $8,934. These prices do not include taxes, but they do include air and cassette and rebates. It seems the $10,184 Accent is the cheapest a dealer is willing to order here. I noticed all ... Read More

For some reason my last few posts in here and other topics were lost during the changeover to the new software. I'd like to say that I like the Accent a lot. Except I wrecked it and blew the airbags. But that's OK because nothing was damaged except the left front fender and the bumper cover. The bumper is fine, it is just moved about an inch, and the fender is ... Read More

  • My 97 Accent GS Experience

I bought my Accent early in 1997 and have had no real problems. I've got 30k on it so far and the only problem I can identify is an annoying rattle that comes from inside the wall on the rear passenger (right side) area. Like any car, every time I took it in to the dealer the rattle was no where to be found (and came back as soon as I ... Read More
