Review

Colorado driving is good but lack of power on hills at altitude is a major weakness. I looked into aftermarket superchargers but costs of $6000+ make them push the Hummer in to the next class of suv's. To try and overcome this weak point the 2007 has bored out the engine to get 20 more horsepower. I am testing one this week. However loading it up to 5400 lbs. and being pushed by a 5 cylinder engine is a strain.

Favorite Features

Ride and handling for such a rugged suv.

Suggested Improvements

Only one. Enough power to keep up with the rest of the suv's in its class.

Review

Fun to drive. Really a great around town cruiser getting +16 mpg. Lots of favorable comments from fellow motorist and the just plain curious.

Favorite Features

Build quality exceeds expectations. More comfort and better ride than most suv's. Giant sun roof. Great to just look at and admire.

Suggested Improvements

More storage compartments. Rear compartments are too small. Cargo area is fine. Flat laying back seats would increase the versatility.

This vehicle has been fun to drive and mpg is much better than my old pickup with a V8. Not sports car like acceleration but this is a 5 cyl SUV. I have not had one mechanical issue to date. The H3 is excellent for offroad

The looks of the vehicle and just plain fun to drive and it is surprisingly quiet.

Serious engine ping fixed for 2007!

I really love my H3 but have had quite a time trying to solve the engine ping, even the dealer is having a tough time. Upon doing a google did I learn 2007 model H3 will have a upgraded engine to remedy this. What do we do for the 2006 models?

I love everything about the H3 except for the engine noise. I owned a H1 and that engine noise was acceptable because it was a diesel!

You did it for 2007 what about doing something for the 2006 owners?

Review

Just purchased my Hummer and I can honestly say the designers at GM did the proper critical thinking needed to compete in a competitive auto market. It balances between power and economy. No it's not a Porsche eater, but sufficent for it's intended purpose. The build quality and choice of materials is great. Interior controls are well thought out and functional. Exterior design is rugged. Overall, my driving experience has been very positive with very few complaints. I would recommend this vehicle for its unique look, quality, and emphasis on fuel economy. This design will last the test of time, with continued slight modifications GM will have repeat buyers going forward.

Suggested Improvements

Redesign the window arm rests for better access to controls. Move the arm rests forward! Driver has to roll forward and twist arm to reach controls. This is a major oversight and needs to be corrected soon! Design fold flat seats for greater storage.

This SUV is fun to drive. My wife prefers it on the road to her Envoy. Took it from Texas to Colorado and back and got 19.5 mpg using premium gas in the Rockies. No problem getting over the passes. Great fun on back country roads.

Could us more power which might help milage as well. More interior luggage space would help also.

No mech. problems so far but the engine temp reaches the redline at noon especially when accelerating. A/C works fine if the car had been shaded. Otherwise, it won't! people sitting in the back? tough luck. Limited rear seating and no rear A/C. I can live with the weak engine, you know, it's a HUMMER statement. Go for Tahoe or TrailBlazer if u want power n speed. H3 Handling and cornering is unbelievably good. Visibility is hard at traffic lights but good when the sun is baking ur head at 45 d angle. Poor finishing, the buttons started to peal off, but the black enterior I got is satisfying my needs. comfortable ride even with the leather but too noisy on highways. Monster on sand n ramps.

exterior/interior design, handling, eye catching (especially with 22" double chrome rims ;)

Suggested Improvements

GM you have 3 options: 1- 3.5L I6 250hp engine base and 4.0L V8 300 hp optional. 2- 4.0L I6 270hp minimum. 3- current engine with optional supercharge. In addition to better finishing, leveled hight front/back, parking sensors, rearview camera, navigation system, glove compartment lock.

Review

I have owned BMW, Mercedes, etc. over the years. The Hummer has provided me with the most fun that I have even had in a vehicle. It is fun to drive, comfortable, and a real attention getter. I bought it as a second vehicle, but I have not driven my other car over one or two times since bringing this baby home. My 11 y.o absolutely loves it.

The looks, the comfort, overall a really great vehicle.

Best mid size SUV on the road

Review

I purchased my H3 in July, got to use my GM employee discount. I have been on road and off road with it with no problems what so ever. Fuel economy could be better but not bad for its size and weight. I still get a lot of questions from people about it every day. I tell them it is fun to drive and will get another one when my lease is over in 2 years.

The size, it is just right for every day use

More power from the 5 cyl. engine is planed for 2007 model.
