I purchased a 2003 H2, right around when the H2 was just released. The car about a year, year and a half ago has been rusting on the entire under carriage of the car. The dealership never wanted to do anything reasonable towards a trade in (for a new one without rust), and the car was out of warranty. Anyone else have this similar problem? i have a 2003 hummer H2. on the left side shift handle is the CHROME PLASTIC THUMB KNOB, that u have to press to get the shifter in and out of PARK. the knob has a broke-off tab that locks it in the shifter handle, and i have to jiggle it to turn the KEY OFF. what is the correct part name for this little knob? it is a plastic cap that you can fit tip of your thumb into Read More...

mac24 you are truely correct. I had the exhaust system changed out a few days ago and the problem is no longer there. I had a broken mount and the baffle inside the muffler had also broken lose. I truely thank you for your time and your response to the problems I was having. By the way, I went with a FlowMaster system that was designed for the Hummer H2, thanks again and ... Read More...

From what you say, it is likely to be the exhaust. The exhaust is flexibly mounted, to allow it to move with the engine as it twists under torque loading and unloading. You could have a soft or broken mount. You could also have a heat shield starting to break it's welds. Finally, you might have an internal baffle that's starting to break away inside the muffler. I have a 2003 HUMMER H2 and I really don't drive it much...I have right at 37,000 miles on it and just a few weeks ago I notice that I have a rattle coming from the rear under section of my H2...However I only hear the rattle when accelerating and the H2 only does it after it has reached a warm temperture.
