My Honda dealership just told me after an oil change service that my 2008 Pilot has alignment/suspension issue for which i have to take the vehicle to a body shop. The car has no accidents, runs in excellent condition, have never driven off road, have always serviced it at Honda dealership only & feel no drifting at all. I had a alignment performed after the tire change from Honda in May ... Read More
My 2009 Pilot EXL is coming off lease in May, and I have 35,200 miles on it. The car is worth way much more than what I owe on the lease, so I am buying it out when the lease ... Read More
Good question, what are we going to do? I traded in my shuddering pilot for a new CRV for my wife, but I still have my 2008 Pilot. It doesn't shudder, having only 70K on the odometer, and I've been religeous about changing the trans fluid...but I am still uneasy about the possibility of it going bad. But then I always wonder, 'what tyres were they on?' 'do they know how to ... Read More

I had a 2008 acura mdx and loved it despite the bad gas mileage which was 12-15 in the city and 19-25.7 on the highway . I had to replace the stereo on my 2006 Pilot; (it kept suddenly dying) and replaced it with a Sony MEX-BT5700U with Bluetooth. I also used the XM and steering column adapters; all works well and I love it. Now I can hook up my iPhone easily and use all hands off features.
Thanks for responding. That makes me feel better about replacing the stereo. The Honda is what my wife drives with the kids and she doesn't even like Bass anyway so if the Sub doesn't work that's OK. I didn't see any sparks from when we jumped it. Just smoke from the meltinig wires. I'm hoping that a new stereo will fix the problem. Who know what a new audio CPU will cost.
The postings on this topic make me suspect that the Honda audio system has no protection from static or reverse polarity. This can easily be achieved with a 5 cent diode in most circuits, and in your case, it sounds like static discharge did it, unless you accidentally swapped the hot and ground cables when you installed the battery... Where there any sparks? If not, it sounds like a design issue ... Read More
Yea that's what happened with us as well. The first time it was jumped the cables were reversed. Not good.
In our case the cables on the car that jumped our Pilot were reversed accidentally at first. I took the car to a Honda dealership in hopes that we blew a fuse, but they ... Read More

That’s true. 3 years ago Honda had heavy incentives to move the 2008 models in anticipation of the new re-designed 2009 models. Plus, the MSRPs of 2009 onwards trims are much higher than the corresponding 2008 trims (additional features, technology, etc.) However, there is significant equity in 2008 Pilots -- difference between the trade-in value and the buyout price. Hello 08 pilot, I am in the exact same boat that you are in, same car, same residual. If I understand this correctly you can trade the car with a dealer before or at lease end and use this extra equity towards another vehicle? In short, any dollar amount negotiated above the residual is like cash?
please let me know how that trade in works out if you move forward with it. the lease is up on my wife's 08 pilot in feb. there will be a whole lot of them coming off lease after that 0.7% interest lease deal they had 3 years ago.
Yes, if you trade the vehicle in, you would be entitled to any additional funds over the payoff just as if you had done traditional financing.
I currently lease a 2008 Honda Pilot EX-L. This 36 month lease is going to expire soon. I agree it's nuts. I tend to replace the engine oil at 4,000 or 5000 miles, which would mean 4 or 5 quarts of oil gone at service time ?! But the engine takes about 5 quarts in total, so your engine would be almost without any oil in it at service time. Engines without oil tend to melt ! Our 2008 Pilot is our 4th Honda, and I always saw ... Read More

Since we got our Pilot back around July or August 2008 (had to wait for parts), it has been running okay. Honda changed the modulator and brake switch. When the problem started happening last year, we brought the Pilot to be checked but every time the Honda could not find anything wrong with it. The last time it happened, the VSA light came on, we DID NOT turn off the ignition ... Read More
I purchased a 2005 Honda Pilot in June 2008. I am experiencing the SAME problem. My Honda Dealership told me that I needed brake pads....my husband replaced them and it just happened to me again, I am scared to drive my car now, I have a six month old son. Has anyone made any progress with this? Did the new transmission, master cylinder, brake switch work???
Thanks for the input. I appreciate your time. 1) Regarding leaving it in "D," I guess it's ok if it lugs up a hill, or I drop down to 40 mph & I start smelling funny stuff from the engine? That's what it did last time & I just thought not shifting it to at least D3 was hurting it in some way....Somehow it didn't feel right & still doesn't. 2) ... Read More
I see where you're coming from, iamknott. I probably was a little harsh ;) . My problem with the Pilot is that I would probably be in one right now if Honda had an attractive lease payment on it. The payments that are available on it are way out of whack. Take a look at the current advertised payments for the models that we have mentioned: $409/36 mo. w/ $2,995 down ... Read More
Not quite that simple. Honda might decrease production but there are a lot of competitors in the current market, and I can honestly say that looks wise some are much more attractive that the new HONDA Pilot. My bet, We will see more incentives as they sell off all the 2008 models. Hang in there.
I already got my Pilot, so I may be a bit biased, however... When I was looking for one in late August / early September, out of the 4 Honda dealers I went to, only 1 had any 2008 Pilots left, terrible selection too (no EX-L or Touring). Maybe in other markets (I'm in St. Louis) that may not be the case, but over here, 2008 models are virtually gone. I ... Read More
Not 100 accurate. Pilots might not have the cash incentive but I am sure it will be back after the 2008 inventories are gone. Honda does have special financing (see below) thru November and beyond since I do not see selling pilots like hot cakes. Ad: "Special AHFC A.P.R. financing available on all new 2009 Pilot models. 0.9% APR financing for 24-36 months or 2.9% APR financing for 37-60 months available ... Read More
