Good all around Car

Review

I waited until a nice long road trip to rate this car. Car was awesome on a 2400 mile round trip to FL and back with two kid,two strollers three big suitcases and all the stuff that goes along with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. Car got a little over 21 mpg. I think that is pretty good as I was averaging 80 mph with a loaded down car. Smooth, tight ride with plenty of power. I love the V6, lots of torque. I would improve a little on interior styling (which Honda may have already done). We were shopping for the 08 highlander and bought the 05 Pilot as the used highlanders weren't big enough and the used pilot had similar space as the new Highlander and a much better price! Certified used.

Favorite Features

Power, Honda reliability. Smooth ride with low road noise for a suv.

Suggested Improvements

Interior styling. Also would like a radio with the digital read out, stereo sounds awesome, I added an aftermarket HD Radio receiver for more listening options.

Cracked seats..

Review

Had driver's (leather) seat skin replaced twice in first two years because of cracked side panel. Replaced whole seat bottom including foam last year. That is three seats in less than three years. Now they say no more warranty to replace both front cracked seats. This on a car only three years old. Passenger seat is now cracked on the side panel as well.

Review

We generally keep our cars for at least ten years. We're hoping the Pilot continues the streak. So far the it's been a pleasure. It's our road trip vehicle, our hauling' vehicle, and our dirt road vehicle. To this point it's performed well in nearly every area.

Favorite Features

Powerful A/C. Rear climate controls. Visibility. Heated mirrors (we live in ice storm country). Turning radius. Tire pressure monitor.

Suggested Improvements

Gas mileage is certainly less than the EPA sticker indicated. Gear selector is vague. Better stereo with front aux input. The "third row seating" is cruel unless you're a child.

Review

This has been the best SUV experience. Only maintenance has been oil changes and service agreement maintenance. Runs like a top. Exterior and interior looks are average but engine and roominess make up for it. Can't beat the Honda workmanship!!

third back seat and loading area. Plenty of luggage space for at least 4 people on trip

Review

This vehicle is awesome. I own a BMW X3 and the Pilot comfort ride is just as good. I enjoy the fuel economy it gives compared to other SUVs. It's roomy and the engine has a nice pick up. I have the EX-L and love the upgrades. I just can't get enough of my Honda Pilot. TRUST ME, I have a Toyota 4runner, BMW X3, Nissan 300z, along with a small list of cars but I just can't get enough of the pilot. I love my Honda. It's one of the BEST car buys that I've made in my life !

Favorite Features

The 3rd row seat is good small children and the DVD player is a good option.

Suggested Improvements

The only improvement would be that it should come with standard 17 inch rims. ( at least )

Review

Have driven vehicle off road and in snow without incident. Very comfortable for me whereas most cars bother my back driving for extended periods. Mileage as advertised. First vehicle owned that required absolutely no warranty work.

Replace foot activated emergency brake with simple hand lever. Move column shift back to console where it belongs.

Out of control Pilot

Review

I've had my Pilot EX for almost three years. Overall I've been very happy with it but I've had two unexpected problems within the past couple months. The starter died and was luckily covered by Honda of America and most recently when I was driving on the interstate doing around 50MPH on dry pavement, the vehicle lost control after I switched lanes to avoid a car that cut in front of me. This resulted in a crash off the road. I have no idea what caused this crash. Maybe ESC would have prevented this incident. The vehicle didn't roll and unfortunately it wasn't a total loss. Once a car is taken apart, it's never the same.

Favorite Features

Perfect size for a family with two kids. Comfortable quiet ride.

Suggested Improvements

Sunroof on EX and ESC.

Review

Very disappointed in this vehicle! Extremely loud road noise - hard to hear on cell phones. Poorly designed climate and radio controls. No automatic headlights, etc. What was I thinking?

Engine and transmission smoothness and size of vehicle.

Suggested Improvements

Reduce road noise and bring convenience features up to speed with similar vehicles.

A Good Mid Size SUV

Review

First Honda and switched from Amer. cars due to all the repair problems we experienced with them. We have really enjoyed the car. Very reliable. Good ride (suspension) considering it is a SUV. A few weird electrical quirks, but nothing to repair yet! I have had much worse. Uncomfortable to reach radio controls from seat, not ergonomically friendly. Most interior features very basic considering price range. Gas mileage decent and has great acceleration. Some occasional shifting confusion from trans can make for rough shifting. I had checked and told no prob, just the way it is. At this point, I would consider another and definetly like Honda.

Favorite Features

Third row seat. Acceleration. Good suspension considering its a SUV. Decent mileage.

Suggested Improvements

For the price range, lacks some common amenities like dash light adjustment, seek/scan on radio, auto head lights, compass, etc. Ergonomics of reaching the radio on dash are not good. Front Head rests need new design. Seat comfort is fair. Needs Improved features for this price range.

I like my Pilot

Review

We bought our Pilot used with about five thousand miles on it. We've had it two years and absolutely no problems. We live in SC. We drove it to Oregon and back this July (100 degrees plus out west). We drove back in three days with sightseeing in Utah. It handled and drove like a dream. There were three of us and our stuff. The engine has great power and does 80 with ease. Gas mileage was as advertised. Stability control saved me from an accident on a five-lane through Charlotte, NC when the guy in the lane to my left started to pull into my lane before he looked, and I instinctively yanked the steering wheel to the right to get away. I would have lost control of a lesser vehicle.

Favorite Features

Engine, transmission, and stability control are my favorites. But I have to say, I like the whole package. It's comfortable, rides quiet and smooth, gets expected gas mileage.

Suggested Improvements

It would be nice if the second row seats laid flat, like the third row seats. They angle upward toward the front. Otherwise, I like it like it is. It's a quality SUV we hope to keep for many more miles.
