2005 Honda Pilot LX 4WD 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

Review

Suspension is tighter than TrailBlazer and Ford 150 and also less body roll, which make it quite accord like and easier to drive than my old acord. 3rd row seats are not bad at all for asians. But, there is not much space left when all up. Low-end performance could be improved, but highway passing is a breeze. The auto5 trans responds quickly for normal driving. It shifts between 5k-6k rpm if you floor it. It's not as quiet as camery and there is a lot of wind noise at 80+ mph. But, that is the same with TrailBlazer. F150 is quieter though. My pilot had a "winnnnn..." sound at 60-70mph at the neginning, which went away after breaking-in at 1K miles.

Favorite Features

Nothing is outstanding in Pilot. But, it is just such a well balanced SUV for a family without a boat. Singles should look at Pathfinder and the rich shouldn't be here. I have got 21mpg at 80~90mph in the first 2K miles, and I am happy with it.

Suggested Improvements

The speaker need to be thrown out. Serious distortion at low and high, and not accurate at mid. Mind you, I am not an audiophile. MP3/CD player should be a standard, or at least, an input jack. The tail turning lights are too dark, not striking enough for drivers behind.

2005 Honda Pilot EX 4WD 4dr SUV w/Leather (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

Review

Primarily bought the Pilot because of top ratings and I was tired of Minivans and their poor resale value. Had for 7 months and 7,xxx miles. Ride, comfort (we do not regularly use the 3rd row), performance combined are top notch. Felt I negotiated a very good deal at year's end - the whole "late in the month and late in the year" discounts and the fact that the dealership was trying to make the "President's Award" with sales volume helped. Performs well on regular gas, better on premium. This is a heavy (but nimble) SUV. The mileage numbers on your window sticker may appear larger that your actual mileage. Maybe it's not broken in?

Favorite Features

Ride Quality and resale value of a Honda. Wife loves the heated seats.

Suggested Improvements

Mostly nitpicky items: No power seat for passenger - $34k? Front cupholders should be able to hold 2 20oz sodas. Speakers on cheap side - Bose for $34k. Pilot is air-tight and back hatch doesn't close all the way without a good push/slam.

2005 Honda Pilot EX 4WD 4dr SUV w/Leather, Rear Entertainment (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

Review

This is an SUV that drives like a sedan. The quality of the workmanship is apparent as soon as you close the door. I am part of a Honda family and tell myself everytime I buy a new vehicle that I should try something different. However, the quality, resell value and reliability always brings me back. The Pilot is a great step into the SUV market for Honda. If you are looking for an SUV that doesn't drive like a truck or drink like one either this is your car.

Favorite Features

The size of the car makes it optimal for both men and women to drive. Great interior design.

Suggested Improvements

The windshield wiper control is too close to the gear shift. Either the wiper control or the gear shift (move to the floor console) needs to be moved to eliminate this problem.

2005 Honda Pilot EX 4WD 4dr SUV w/Leather (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

Review

We bought this SUV to drive on our honeymoon, as we were planning on driving 2500+ miles, with a dog. This was the most comfortable ride, and lots of storage room. Perfect for long trips, and daily travel.

Favorite Features

Volume on steering wheel, electric drivers seat, room for 8 people, lots of leg room in the back seat. Temperature read out.

Suggested Improvements

Move the controls up from the lower left for the cruise control and moon roof. Hard to find when driving.

Review

This SUV is great for the family with younger teenagers. Plenty of room and features are great. It handles well and is a great value. It does not get good gas mileage. I have never received the mileage that is posted on it. It gets about 12-17 MPG. It stated 22-28. Big difference. Otherwise, a wise investment.

Favorite Features

Kids love the DVD player. You will be able to listen to your radio station while they watch a movie. Plenty of room for those longer trips mean less fighting.

Suggested Improvements

Gas mileage stinks.
