2000 Passport stalling out
Written by: aziz34758 on Mar 28, 2011 1:10:04 PM
I recently bought a used 2000 Passport with an unusual problem. It drives very good most of the time, on problem days it starts by idling high, stopping becomes harder, I have to hit the brake harder for it to stop, the vehicle makes 3 attempts to lurch forward from a stopped position with the transmission in drive and my foot hard on the brake pedal then the engine dies, the ... Electrical/Transmission
Written by: scottpony on Feb 26, 2010 9:19:57 AM
2000 Honda Passport. Having electrical/transmission trouble, and wonder if the two may be related. Have performed voltage test on battery and alternator and get 12V when off on battery, and 11.6V when running. From what I've read that means faulty alternator, though I have cleaned alternator connection (got 14V for a while, but no longer). Anyway, could transmission problems be related to alternator issues? Could the voltage regulator be the culprit? ... Read More

Re: 2000 Isuzu Rodeo - Eating Engine Oil [aramos08]
Written by: nogorodeo on Oct 1, 2007 12:30:09 PM
I bought a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo about 3 weeks ago. After going not even 2500 miles, it has gone through all the oil, the oil light didn't come on and the engine locked up. Now I have to replace it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the engine to replace it with. I think the same engine was put into other vehicles such as the Honda Passport, and they could ... Read More

Does your reduced power lamp come on?Does the vehicle run normal and then die?Sounds like a wire harness problem. This is common for your year model.Take it to an Isuzu dealer. If this is the problem, they should be able to diagnose it quickly.

I had the same problem with the gas light on my 2000 Rodeo. The problem is a sensor in the gas tank, which cost around $550.

No Honda dealership can fix my 2000 Honda Passport problems
Written by: garss on Dec 22, 2005 11:10:12 AM
I have a 2000 Honda Passport with just 70,000 miles on it. A month and a half ago, it suddenly just stopped running. Two mechanics and 3 Honda dealerships later, I was told that they can't do anything to fix it. They first thought that it was a problem with the timing belt so they had it replaced. Then they replaced the tensioner, worked on the cam shafts, did a pressure ... Read More

Written by: blaze79 on Sep 22, 2005 11:57:59 PM
Hi everyone, I am thinking about buying Isuzu Rodeo 2000 with about 57,000 for a fairly good price. I don't know much about these cars and was told that they are exactly the same as Honda Passport. Would you recomend this car (it is always the best to get oppinion from the people who own one and not a sales rep in the dealership)? I drive 30K a year and need ... Read More

Check Engine/Trans Light - IMG Correction?

I have a 2000 Honda Passport EX-4WD that is having the same check engine & check transmission light problem with the engine stalling, as noted in notes #1580 and #1578. My truck has 80K+ miles and is no longer covered by any warranties. I have taken it to a Honda dealer twice already, but they have not fixed the problem (and I am out of pocket $700 so far!) - and ... Read More

Thanks ryanendres! It's been sold in a day - i didn't get a chance :-( I am currently watching another one on eBay though... The current price is $5 + $15 shipping. The picture is pretty crappy and it came out of 2000 Passport. The seller says the color is tan. I just wonder if "tan" Honda color is the same as Beige Isuzu. Any ideas? The dealer still has it ... I am currently in progress of trying to buy a cargo cover for my '01 Rodeo and having a lot of problems... very unexpected I should say. 4 out of 5 of my local dealers couldn't locate one in Beige color and said they don't exist, which is a complete BS. One dealer did locate it, but after I waited for two weeks and called them to get the status on ... Read More

I'm trying to decide between Escape/Rodeo(with GM discount)/2WD Trailblazer/Saturn VUE, and was leaning in the Rodeo's direction. However, I just read the "2000 Midsize SUV Comparison" on this site, and it scared the bejeezus outta me. The Honda Passport was tested, and although I know it isn't exactly the Rodeo, I was sure it was as close as can be. They slam it big-time. The biggest issues I saw were build ... Read More

Try 2001 Honda Passport EX (with leather) for 26 grands. It doesn't have the intelligent suspension but reviews about intelligent susp is not that great. There are many aftermaket shock upgrades for just about a hundred dollar with much better ride quality. I used Monroe matic shocks with very comfortable ride.
