Great car to drive, just not a 4 kid car

2012 Honda Odyssey EX-L 4dr Minivan w/Rear Entertainment (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

Middle row not as functional as initially thought. Traded in '08 8 pass Sienna for it. If you have 2 kids tops who use the middle as "captians" with the center down all the time - 3 in car seats - or 1 in the middle, 2 in the back - it would work. But the 8th spot is not comfy for all the time seating and the outboard seats, when slid to get in the back, still make a tight space and don't revert to their original position once up. Also you have to push the BACK of the seat to lock it so if your kid forgets you are driving with a seat bonking around you can't reach to click back in place. Long term, with 4 kids, I think a true 2 captain's chair set up would have been better for us.

Favorite Features

Back up camera Fact that all inside lights turn off when you lock the car - had a few dead batteries in old car from kids leaving lights on. Top tethers in all 3 spots in back row

Suggested Improvements

Needs more storage - no door bins in center door, no lidded compartments in 3rd row like old had - kids like to stick stuff places! Either make all 3 middle spots equal in size and outboard seat tumble, like old style Sienna - or go back to stowable 8th Ody seat with true captain's chairs that can be pushed together. Make back row a few inches wider. It is the narrowest of any mini van which is why Honda leaves "3 row hip room" out when they list how they compare to other vans. They just leave out the places where they aren't better than one or more others! Also move AC controls for rear to behind DRIVER, not passenger. Why on earth are they behind the passenger?
