I would be careful recommending any newer Toyota. Not for the cheap materials, shoddy build quality (I recall inside lines test sienna had a broken door with only a few miles on it) or ridiculous number of safety recalls. I had to get rid of a 2009 Corolla that was eating a quart of oil every 1000 miles and the dealer said that is normal for their vehicles. The Corolla had ... Read More
Any thoughts as to who is offering a better deal, Toyota or Honda on an '08 at this point? Also, we have a baby due in November so I'd like to get the car by then, but if I can save substantially on an '08 by waiting until December I would do that. Any thoughts on if it makes sense to wait another couple of months to get a better deal? ... Read More

Greetings, Ok... this is my second time leasing through Honda Finance ( Southern California) but this was my first time going by monthly payments alone and not by purchase price. I was intending to do a simple buy out of the lease at $16,307 through my credit Union but I decided to visit the ... Read More

Looking at a few dealer websites, I see a lot of Touring models in White and Silver, I haven't found one in Red yet. Read with interest the class action against Honda. I fought for months and finally engaged Auto BBB (Better Business Bureau) and State's Attorney's office before Honda at the last minute finally relented and replaced transmisssion and torque converter on my 2009 Odyssey for the vibration problem referenced in the lawsuit. Honda kept claiming problem was a "characteristc" of the car and I would have to live with it. Wrong! I decided ... Read More

My 2007 had that problem , and in September 2009 Honda replaced the torque converter. It's been 2 years and about 45,000 miles later without any evidence of the problem recurring. Maybe I just got lucky. (lucky it was still under warranty)
Greetings all. I'm in Atlanta and purchased a new 2009 Odyssey last summer. Almost immediately, I began to have oil consumption issues. I've been through two oil consumption tests (dealer checks oil every 1,000 miles). The dealer also checked for an oil leak and asked that I leave the car over night for a "cold" start when hooked up to their computer. After several months the dealer acknowledges that the car ... Sorry to hear of your issues. Honda already supposedly "fixed" the issue with a different piston ring and moly coated skirts on the 2011 VCM. This is why dealers are insisting buyers do NOT change their oil until the MM hits 15% or less (they want that moly in there for a while) even though this usually works out to 7500+ miles. We own one in an Accord and I hope ... Read More

I am unsure of what my target price should be? We are having issues with oil consumption on our 2009 Honda Odyssey. I am incredibly disappointed. This was the first new vehicle we have ever purchased and we chose the Odyssey after much research. Just letting an engine sit and idle won't always reproduce the problem as engines that are running at speed produce huge amounts of heat and pressure compared to something that's just purring. I would have the cooling system pressure tested. Sometimes radiators can develop leaks that are intermittent, and may not show up if it's just sitting in the driveway. Also, have some UV dye added to your coolant. You can ... Read More

Yes that is what I am seeing also. What is the price and where did you buy your new EX-L from. I live in NJ and am looking for dealers in the area. I got an Internet price of 28,995 from a dealer, another one gave me an Internet price of 28,510 (without Financing).
Agreed...the prices on used ones didn't seem to be coming down to match the most recent incentive pricing, which is understandable. We went with a new EXL as we figured we'd be driving it for the next 7-8 years, so for a few grand more we got something with 25k fewer miles and 3 years newer (and in the color we wanted, etc. etc.).
It still looks higher than a new EXL , seems like from the internet dept , a new 2010 EXL can be had from 28-29K + TTL To purchase a CPO with 15-20K miles , the deal looks good only if it knocks down 6-7K off of the new price
Appeciate the feedback. I am planning to put a lot of miles in the next few years. That is the main reason I am looking into a CPO model. So what you are saying is even $27,000 is high. Also there is another car 2008 EX-L model with Nav and Res and this dealer in NY is asking 28,991. It has 15K miles.
You should be able to purchase a brand new EXL with zero miles and full warranty for just slightly more than the 27k you are offering for the CPO model and less than the dealers asking price for the CPO model. The 1st 27000 miles are the best in my mind, and I would want at least 4,000 discount from what I might need to pay for a new equivalent model ... Read More

1. Were replacement brake pads and rotors Honda parts? If so, I can understand the problem. Those "super" hard honda brakes are the problem. You got 20K miles out of the originals and 20K miles out of the new ones. Makes sense! 2. How much wear did the brake pads have? I have an 07 and had noises (pinging mostly) almost from the start. after me taking it to the dealer several times, they finally recognized that there was a problem. They replaced the "knock sensor" and it seemed to stop, but I think I still hear it at times. the octane of fuel doesnt matter either. Now, I am starting to feel the transmission shudder. I wish I had stuck with ... Read More
I just have this 09 Odyssey for a week and it has about 1K miles on it. I notice that whenever the speed is at 40 ~ 50 mph the engine started to making noises and causing vibration. My husband said it's probably because it was switching gears at that time. But I'm concern about the engine is having some problem. I don't know whether it is normal or it will ... Read More

I have a brand new '09 Honda Odyssey and last week it just stopped running. I was driving and suddenly my van started losing speed, I gave it some more gas and it started to go for about 20 seconds and then stopped. There was no grinding just quiet. It has been at the dealer for over 1 1/2weeks and they just ordered cylinder heads. Oh, the van only has 352 ... Read More
I have a 2009 EX-L, 20k miles so far. 2 oil changes. LOVE it! Would I buy an Odyssey again? I traded in a 2003 EX-L w/80k miles for this one. LOVED that one too. More often than not online forums are filled with people having problems. People who don't have any problems aren't going to go posting it nearly as much as those who have problems. Google any make or ... Read More
I have a 2009 Honda Odyssey.(standard model). From the moment I drove it off the lot I noticed the vibration issues. The first time my wife took it in they told her there was a software update that should fix the issue. Didn't work. The second time I took it in they told me it was normal operation of the torque converter and couldn't do anything about it. The third time ... Read More
I'm going to take mine back every 1000 miles to build my case. That way they should fix it when they finally decide to tell us what the problem is. I did this with my 2002 van on a transmission problem. I kept documenting it everytime I went in for anything. At 80,000 it went out and they fixed it with no cost to me. But in all honesty this may ... Read More

Mine doesn't have the ECO. I found the problem on the same day when I purchased a car, but most people have the problem after the software update. You need to replace a transmission torque converter. Some people still have the problem after the replacement of the transmission torque converter. I am one of them. I think the chip set which controls the timing of a shift to the 5th level ... Did you ever find out what the problem was? My 07 does the same thing at about 1800rpm when the ECO kicks in. One dealer mechanic unhooked the ECO and we test drove it and couldn't get to do it again. So it's something to do with the ECO. The mechanic told me he thinks that when the ECO kicks in and your running on 3 cylinders that there is fuel ... Read More
