Used TMV from $8,509
That price seems unusually low. One of the easiest ways to find a comparison for your car is to go to one of the car sites, edmunds, autotrader, nada, kellybluebook, and put in the info to find pricing. If you put in 2005 in autotrader most of the cars w/ 139,000 are being sold around $10-12,000. Given that you are buying it at a dealer I'd want to know why they ... Read More
I am in the process of purchasing this vehicle with 139,000 miles on it and the asking price is $6995 from a dealership. Should I pay this price or should I try talking them down some. This will be a second vehicle for me.
I would consider an alternative if I am to take a loan to buy the Van. 1. Honda Vans are highly priced than other minivans in the same class. Why?? They hold their value very well. That means for the same amount of money you would get a newer and low mirage option. 2. I would rather buy an older vehicle that would not tie me in a loan for the ... Read More

I have a 2002 Odyssey which I bought new in Canada. The 1999-2004 was called LaGreat in Japan with V6 engines. The 2005-2012 built in Alabama are Japanese Dylson (I think this is the name[ see web site below]). The Odyssey minivans without sliding doors have and are still built in Japan with both 4 and 6 cyl engines. They are not the same style as the USA Odyssey (which really ... Read More
Bought a 2012 Odyssey Touring to replace a 2005 Touring.... Wind noise is incredible... I am floored that Honda let this out and is not addressing it... We have Bluetooth for the phone and it is impossible to hold a conversation when on a freeway.. Hopefully they will address it soon.
I understood it to be the full warranty. I am not sure and you would have to call a Honda dealership and inquire.
Hi I have a Honda Odyssey 2005 EXL , I left the lights on over night and the Battery died, I received a jump but now the GPS is not working. The screen reads wait 10 minutes for signal but nothing happens. Does anyone know what may be the problem?
Are you saying till 2007 the filter position has not been changed. You indicated that they fail between 80k to 125k miles. Has that improved with the 2007 and above models? I have a 2005 Odyssey with only 21k miles on it, and hope it will service me for years to come. My daughter's 2002 had to have a transmission replace by 100,700 miles, and Honda wouldn't do anything about it. ... Read More
Bought the Odyssey today at Bobby Rahal Honda in Mechanicsburg, Pa. Traded in my 2005 model Odyssey (same features) that had 118,000 miles on it. Paid $32,650 for the vehicle, $1,446 in tax, and about $310 in other fees, for a total of $34,406. Received $9,300 for the trade, costing me $25,106 out the door. I declined all the dealer offered warranties and products. I agree with earlier posts; Honda is ... Read More
The two better options for you are the Sienna (as mentioned above) and the 2005+ Odyssey. Problem is....$15k doesn't buy you much in the Honda/Toyota world. We sold our '05 Ody last spring with 100k miles for more than that. In that price/age range, the Ody feels more roomy. As mentioned above if you want folding 2nd row seats the Dodge/Chrysler is the only game in town. Since you mentioned wanting ... Read More
I have experienced this noise for 3 years already on Honda OD 2005 (current: 75k miles). It happens on and off and always after the brake cool off. Recently I went to another dealership for power steering recall (warranty ... Read More
My 2002 Odyssey EX-L transmission died at 111,000. Under the recall, Honda just added the oil jet in 2005, at around 36,000. I called Honda and they said they would offer no remedy. What did you do to get some recourse?
I bought my 2006 honda odyssey certified preowned; have had it for 2 years and for a couple of mths now i've been hearing this vibration sound from the hood. i've rotated, aligned, and balanced the tires, but didn't fix the sound. i'm glad to read the problem here.
The new year models are usually rated excellent. The 2011 Odyssey gets fair on two points namely Body Hardware and Power Equipment and good on three points Electrical, Squeaks/rattles and Audio. 2007 and 2008 are also not as good as one would hope. My take on it is that the Odyssey is still a good minivan I particularly like the 2005-2010 generation for its routine and emergency handling. If the reviews ... Read More
Finally got disgusted with my 07 and traded for a 2011 Toyota Highlander. No more Hondas. Ever! Went through the whole gambit. Torque converter replaced. Fuel economy went to HE@@. Multiple re programs. Arbitration, (a joke). Free at last. Free at last. Received another recall the other day to re program again to prevent premature trans shaft ware. Anything to keep from really fixing the trans issues.
The full warranty was extended to 60K, or just the torque converter? I seem to recall something specific being extended but I don't recall the entire warranty being extended to 60K. My primary reason for extending the warranty was that if something this major went wrong, I did not want to take a chance on something else going terribly wrong. Basically, the cost of the extended warranty was cheaper than getting ... Read More
Are you aware that the warranty on your 2007 was extended to sixty thousand miles because of this issue with the torque converter? If you bought the warranty before 60,000 it was still under warranty. Also since you had the torque converter replaced once you will be covered for this issue for the life of the car.
I can 2nd or 3rd other comments here - I had this fixed (fortunately under warranty) on a 2007 Ody in January of 2010. No problems since. There have been additional software updates made when I've had it back to the dealer for other servicing. I had the broken motor mount issue fixed at the same time, and all has been well since then. Be careful that an unaddressed torque converter ... Read More
I also had my torque converter replaced two years ago on my 2007 Honda Odyssey. It had around 45,000 miles on it at that time. I haven't had a problem since. I think the software updates made it burn more gas although I couldn't prove it. I've got my ... Read More
I replaced mine over 20K miles ago and no problems. They made me pay $790 of the $1800 they said it would cost. They had also told me to replace the motor mounts for $950 each but I never did that and still no problems.
My 2007 had that problem , and in September 2009 Honda replaced the torque converter. It's been 2 years and about 45,000 miles later without any evidence of the problem recurring. Maybe I just got lucky. (lucky it was still under warranty)
We have a 2006 EXL/NAV/RES with 94k with the shuddering problem (defective torque converter). Our Honda service adviser told me not to waste our money replacing it. Once again, like the class action transmission settlement ('99-'03) Honda chooses to ignore the issue and replace defective part with like kind. I see another class action coming up on the Odyssey ... Read More

My 2005 odyssey has exactly this issue since 30,000. Now at 82,000,the problem is more noticeable. This happens when car is still cold, cruise between 35 to 45 MPH on incline. Yes, RPM was low. I never had this problem after 30 minutes of driving. Also, if I turn off o/d, the problem disappears so I am certain,it has nothing to do with engine mounts. I drove stick shift before. When ... If you have hard steering and the car seems to wander on the road even after an alignment then you may have the same problem I had. This seems to affect 2006-2008+ Odyssey's that had the new struts to make the ride softer than the 2005. I had a 2005 and it had hard suspension (rode very stiff). Ironically they too suffer from the shudder issue although can ... Read More
Following up with the final outcome from Honda. They replaced the entire transmission with remanufactured one. Shudder problem is gone at least for now. The bill which was at a discounted rate came to $4004.00 but the warranty covered it and had no deductible. If it was on my dime Honda told me it would be approximately $4500.00 Honda exaggerated the issues (added things like trans slipping etc.) on the form ... Read More
