The 2000 Honda Odyssey LX is a van that has good days and bad. Some days when it is not even cold out, the sliding doors will not open, and the person must use excessive force to open them. Honda just says "there is nothing we can do about it." The paint on the van is also very thin and scratches easily. The same can be said about the interior dashboard and door panels. They all scuff or scratch easily. The good things are the van is very well built frame wise. After being in two rear-end accidents the van still looks as it did before the accidents, minus a few scratches. The amount of cargo space is probably the best feature. Other than that the van is pretty good.
Fold down rear seats, cargo space, front visibility.
Fix the sliding doors, better Honda assistance, thicker paint, better rear visibility, headrests that are built into the seats (so you do not have to find a place for them when you fold down the rear seats).
Purchased new when Mercury Villager died. Needed room for the kids and for trips. Looked at SUV's but the Odyssey has better gas mileage. This has been, and still is, a fantastic vehicle. No problems at all. Have only replaced the normal "wearable" parts (wipers, brake pads, filters, tires, etc.).
Interior room, folding rear seat, visability, sliding doors on each side, reliability, quality,
A/C filter could be more accessable. Front and rear ends are hard to see when parking, esp. when parallel parking.
We've been Honda owners for 15 plus years. Purchased new in 2000. I love my van!! Side doors do stick at times. Just replaced the catalytic converter, but was covered under warranty/recall. We recommend to everyone.
Folding rear seat. Roominess, even in third row.
Better cup holders all around. (dumped things many times out of center console betwn seats) Fix the sliding doors.
This has been the best car we have ever owned. So perfect in comparison to our Chrysler Town and Country which was a reliability nightmare. The Navigation system is just the greatest for any road trips. When you learn how to fully utilize this feature, you will not buy another car without it!
We bought our Odyssey in August of 2000, about 6 months after we bought it the sliding doors started to jam and on several occasions would not open. To this day December 1 2004 they still occasionally jam but after bringing it to Honda in '01 it is a lot less frequent. That is the only problem I have had with this van. Other than that everything is excellent.
Folding rear-seats, spacious trunk, good gas mileage, excellent build (only a few scratches after getting into an accident) and good handling and traction.
Sliding doors, although after driving in a friend's re-designed for '05 Odyssey I see that problem has been greatly improved, as well as in the earlier EX models.
