Used TMV from $2,289
This sounds like a good price! I paid 25,500 plus TTL in the Memphis area. This was the lowest I could negotiate between three dealerships. After I negotiated the price of the new vehicle, I brought my trade into the equation. I ended up getting $2,000 for my 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager with 182,000 miles (it was in excellent condition, and I had put $1,500 into it over the past 6 ... Read More
I just closed on a deal last night! I ended up paying $25,685.80 ($25,485.80 + 200.00 to transport the color vehicle that I wanted from another state). After TTL, the total came to $26,020. I also negotiated getting $2,000 for my 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager that had 182,000 miles on it. Granted it was in excellentent condition, but it was still old with lots of miles. I think that I got ... Read More
Hi, I am about to make a purchase on a Honda Odyssey EX. I have negotiated over the internet, and I think that I am getting a good deal, but I just want to make sure. I was quoted $25,600 + TTL. This is taking advantage of the 2.9% financing. Could I get them to knock more off the price given the $2000 dealer incentive? Also, does anyone have any strategies ... Read More
Hi, I am interested in purchasing a Honda Odyssey EX in the Memphis or Jackson, TN area. The best offer that I have received is $25,600 + TTL from Memphis. The Jackson dealership is telling me that there is no way that Memphis' offer will stand if I opt for the 2.9% financing. I am also hoping to trade my 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager. It has 180,000 miles but I have ... Read More

I have one of the original 1996 Honda Odyssey Vans. The van still runs well after 200 Km. but it has experienced a few electrical problems. This one is a mystery and I hope someone can help... Last week the driver side headlight stopped working. I changed the bulb...still no light. I tried the working bulb from the passenger side...that didn't work. I checked the fuse..ok. I tested the voltage at ... Read More
bigdadi118, exb0, and terrip1, Thank you very much for your replies to my inquiry, and for the many posts on this forum. My condolences go out to those who have had accidents, and I extend wishes that all are doing well. Your time and efforts will likely save others from injury or loss of life. Through your pointers I've now found the Honda Service Bulletin 07-045 (most recent issue dated March ... Read More
I'm trying to decide between the Odyssey EX and EX-L. I'll be commuting to work in the vehicle with an infant and a toddler. I won't be getting the honda Nav or RES. I like that the EX-L has XM radio, a power liftgate, and a especially a rearview camera. I'd be sold on the EX-L if it only had those features. However what is holding me back is is the ... Read More
So, no, I don't think much has changed with Honda, in the last five years, or the last ten. Though I'd love to buy a new Odyessy, I just can't bring myself to have faith in Honda again. I'd appreciate your thoughts on the issue, as I really do love my Ody; I just wish I could trust it. Thank you for being so thorough in your reply, and sorry about ... Read More
I have just bought a second hand Japanese 1996 Honda CRV unfortunately not with the GPS DVD/CD. If anyone has one available and can let me have a copy - I will try and convert it to English. Any help, thoughts appreciated regards Karl
hi did u have any luck converting from japanese to english? I have searched many forums/sites and I have been told it is not possible. I have been able to pair my phone to use the bluetooth function but voice recognition seems to require japanese worgs. If u find anything please let me know thanks
I have a 1996 Isuzu Oasis (just like Honda's Odyssey) and it's radio flashed "code". I tried the 1 & 6 buttons and nothing happened, so I removed the radio and found the serial number - in fact I photographed the label so that I could re-install the unit while I searched for the code. I went on line and found Radio-code.com. I sent them the information along with a $28.99 ... Read More
I just recently moved to Okinawa, Japan and purchased a used 1996 Honda Odyssey with the Honda Navigation System. Problem is everything is in Japanese. Does anyone know if there is an upgrade DVD for this year/model system that would show Japanese maps in English? Dunc.
This is the old Odyssey not sure the transmission problems apply. I sold my 1996 with about 160,000 for 3,500 two years ago. Mine had the ABS & Airbag light on which usually means you have an issue. The ABS cost anywhere from $300-$600 to repair when I had it priced out. I would think you could get them under 4000 but my cousin is still driving the one I sold ... Read More
I just finished reading about 230 postings about the Honda Odyssey. I was troubleshooting a loud roaring sound I can't seem to get rid of (ha, ha). Guess I'm lucky... it just started in the past year or so and I'm driving a 1996 with 190,000 miles! I've read all the frustrating posts, and feel your pain. However, I want to give some words of encouragement. After 12 yrs of owning this ... Read More
blackexv6- I guess that's why they make Fords AND Hondas - everybody has their own opinions. I would never buy another Ford (except possibly a V-8 Mustang GT). In November, 1999, I finally sold it, having put only 43k additional miles on ... Read More
I know sort-of what you mean. My family has driven mostly Hondas all my life (since 1982). The 2000 Odyssey EX we had, while a very nice car, was the vehicle with the most rattles and little "issues" out of all of them. My 1996 Accord has less rattles with 172,000 miles on it than our Odyssey did when we traded it in with 39,000 miles on it. By the same ... Read More

Yes, okay, fine. I get the fact that these are not a bunch of fluff/buff rags. That's not my point. You obviously don't like CR/MT/C&D/etc. etc. etc. You seem to take this stance because they don't give "factual" data regarding the Odyssey and the DCX vans. You DO like the "factual" reporting in the industry rags. And you bought a DCX van. I'm simply asking WHAT WAS IT in the "industry ... Read More

My question is this - What can I do to replace the engine belt with a shorter version, allowing me to simply ... Read More
Get it fixed one more time under the extended warranty, then trade it for some other brand. You have been much more patient than I would have ever been. (Owner of a 1996 Caravan now at 85K miles and still on the original transmission and running fine)
Overall Chrysler's supplier problems have been with their electronic component vendors. I resemble ...opps, resent that remark!!! I sold electronic components to DCX in the late 90s, and speaking for Tyco Automotive (who's CEO is now in jail for 25 years), we have an excellent record. Of course not. People never want any new technology when they have never had it. Not to say that it can not happen but I have not seen anything like that. I am sure that DC has improved it's transmissions since 1996. They have upgraded the transmission fluid , too. I owned a 96. I traded it in at a significant loss with 72k miles on it for a Honda Odyssey. I now have 58K trouble free miles and it drives just like new.
We bought our 1996 Odyssey 6 years ago and 103000 miles we have enjoyed this car very much but we have a problem the car is going through oil very rapidly and the belts are squealing constantly we have had these problems for quite a while and they do not stop after getting fixed if any of you have advice please tell
Today as we were driving our 1996 Honda Odyssey Ex we noticed the our brake light came on shortly followed by the Abs light. The manual says it is a low brake fluid level but I want to know if anybody else has had this problem.
Actually, the demand for the Odyssey is in some way due in part because of Honda, who is keeping production down several hundred thousand when compared to the 400 + thousand a year Chrysler or Ford pumps out a year. It also means, for the vast majority of minivan shoppers, a reasonable priced reliable van with good cargo capabilities and the normal luxury necessities attract the most demand. (I.E. the Honda ...
