Thank you for a great post!
Yes Lewis, A/C will drop your mileage. The hotter the temps, the harder the A/C has to work, and the more it will rob your MPGs. It also does something else too. It sometimes causes your engine not to shut off when stopped at a traffic light, which it usually does to save gas. This means you will be often idling, and therefore further robbing your gas mileage. This is because ... Read More
Within the last 4 months my millage has dropped from 47mpg to 35. Granted I do live in Houston Texas and the weather has been extremly warm. Would using the air conditioner cause the millage to drop. What else would cause it to drop a good 12mpg? How can I increase the millage to 47-50 mpg. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Lewis
I have a camry hybrid (2008) and an insight (2010) so I have lots of experience with both drive systems. Although the pure electric Toyota mode feels very cool (like when searching for street parking and circling the block using zero gas), even with the gas on all the time, the Honda gets amazing mileage. I find the Honda takes more practice to pull really high mileage, but that said it ... Read More

I just got my 2010 Honda Insight at the beginning of Dec 2010. Within a few weeks the snow started falling here in Pa. The dealership was very slow for being the last day of the month and many sales people standing around waiting for something to happen which probably will never happen in this economy. Drove the car 40.8 miles on freeway, city streets and single lane country roads at posted speeds drving the car ... Read More
You say you got a Fit Sport "when they first came out". Then you said they just delivered your new Fit Sport "Today (3/30). You have 2 Fits and 1 Insight. Why???
Not bragging just a happy camper. I traded in my 2005 Honda Element EX AWD (which I very much liked but the warranty had run out) for a 2009 Fit Sport w/Navi when they first came out. I liked the Element so much over the years (not my first Honda) that I was a little worried I'd have regrets with the Fit. Glad to say I had none. The Fit got ... Read More
Hi johngettler. Not surprisingly, Honda is not currently providing any lease support on the all-new Insight. Honda Finance's current buy rate lease money factor for a 36 month lease of a 2010 Insight is .00310 for consumers who qualify for its top aka "Super Preferred" credit tier. I traded in my 2009 Honda Fit Sport w/Navi on a 2010 Insight, it arrived today. It's been pouring for 3 days here in western NC but I had to take a little drive in the Insight. I loved my Fit, I hope I love the Insight. The Fit was getting 34 m.p.g. and the Insight shows 39.5 m.p.g. after being driven from SC on major highways to be delivered. I ... Read More
Does anyone know what money factor they are offering? I know the Civics are at .00225, which roughly equates to 5.4% (x2400). I see as part of the lease offer they are 'assuming' that dealers will knock 10% off the MSRP. Interesting, since some of them might not for a little bit. ======Here is the initial offer==================== 2010 Insight Featured Standard Lease $229.00 per month for 36 months. $2,799.00 total due ... By the way Honda also has now a lease offer for $229 a month: Closed-end lease for 2010 Insight LX CVT (Model ZE2H5AEW) for $229.00 per month for 36 months with a $1,975.00 capitalized cost reduction available to customers who qualify for the AHFC Super Preferred credit tier. Other rates/tiers are available under this offer. $2,799.00 total due at lease signing (includes first month's payment, AHFC upfront acquisition fee, capitalized cost ... Read More
I read a news report the other day that hybrids in general are selling slowly, with a 60-day supply of Priuses for example compared to 2 days last year. There's even a rebate on the Prius now, unheard of in the past. So good luck to Honda dealers who add $1500 to the MSRP of an Insight. At that price it will be competing head-to-head with the Prius price-wise. I saw ... Read More
Any new car, including a freakin' Hummer tank, qualifies for the tax credit this year. Sadly (and foolishly), there is no additional hybrid credit that I know of, apart from the plug-in model offers, or what some individual states might offer. My Insight salesman informs me that many other dealers will impose a $1500 additional markup to the price, to which I ask: why? Are they in such demand? Are car ... Read More
Newest Honda pricing: The all-new 2010 Honda Insight goes on-sale March 24 with a manufacturer's suggested retail price1 (MSRP) of $19,800 for the Insight LX, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced.
Prices do not include the ever-present $670.00 destination charge. From Honda's press release: 2010 Honda Insight Pricing and EPA Data MSRP LX $19,800 EX $21,300 EX with Navi $23,100 EPA same for all models: 40/43/41 (note in Europe the EX has 16" which has 5% higher fuel consumpion).
I actually think this was a fair comparison for two vehicles that in a couple of months are likely to be selling for just about the very same price. The 2010 Prius will list at least $4K - 5K more than the Insight, and it could be argued that its unfair to compare vehicles priced so far apart. The 09 Prius might have greater incentives to move the old stock. I ... Read More
