Windshield breakage on 2006 models?

Thinking very seriously about buying a 2007 Element, my first Honda since buying a new 1988 Prelude. The various owner review sites, one in particular, talk about what seems like significant numbers of people having problems with the windshield cracking, most due to rocks. artnsoul3: We need some more information about your "tire wear problem"! It is normal wear, or is the vehicle "out of alignment"? If the vehicle is "out of alignment", with only 10,000 miles on the vehicle, I think you have an issue with Honda Corp., and the dealer. Hello. That is pretty close to an internet price quote I received from a Honda dealer in Dayton, OH. I was looking for an Element EX-P AWD, automatic, and he provided a quote of $21,065, so very similar. Don't know if there is more wiggle room here, because I am going back and forth between wanting an Element or a Forester, so I haven't pursued the Element further. ... Read More...

Put yourself in Honda's shoes. Would you spend a whole lot of money making changes to vehicle that is scheduled to get a complete overhaul one year later? That is why late upgrades are very rare. If Honda sticks with the 5 year cycle (and there's nothing to suggest that they won't), the Element should get a refresh for the 2006 model year. This refresh should include ... Read More...

As posted above, Honda has stated that they will be adding several safety features (ABS, VSA, airbags, etc.) to all their light trucks by the end of calendar year 2006. The Element appears to be on a 5 year design cycle, just like most every other Honda product. In the fourth year of a five year cycle, the vehicle will get a refresh. I looked at the Honda web link again and it says "before the end of calendar year 2006." By that time, the completely redesigned 2007 Element will be out. That probably means they won't bother with side curtain airbags for the current design of the Element. Read More...

Footie - Check your tires for flat spots. Side Curtain Airbags For the past year, Honda has repeated that they will be offering side curtain airbags (with roll-over inflation), ABS, and other features on all trim levels of their SUVs. When the new low-sulfur diesel fuel becomes standard in the US in 2006, will the Element get the option of 2.4 liter diesel engine in the Euro Accord? I suppose by then, the Element would be a 2007 model and Honda might just wait for the next generation Element in 2008 or so instead of bothering with this one. Read More...

well I'm breaking down and buying a used civic (maybe) I wanted to like the element , and I don't hate it, but its just like every other car I've seen everything seems so average, the 2 biggest draws to me are the tailgate and the fold up seats , and i just cant justify buying it over a crv unless resale ends up being better , which i find doubtful even this civic I'm probably ...
