Bought a 2010 CRV EX 4W.D. The final cost to me was $ 8000.00 Took my 07 CRV 4 WD in for the trade (48K miles) they offered 16K The cost then would have been 9800 to me. I refused the deal. Told salesman I could afford 8000. as I want to pay cash. He came back with an offer of 8848.40. called him back and told him this was not do able. I am also noticing my Honda CRV (2007) is also similar noises in the rear bakres. Noises are noticeable when backing up and making slow sharp turns. Curious how was it costs when you had it fixed? I am dreading this. Read More...

I have been through this 3 times with my 2005 CRV. There is a specific service bulletin from Honda addressing this problem. Even after a change with new Honda fluid this problem can develop. My Honda CRV 2006 was making that grinding noise attributed to the rear differential shortly after purchase. I didn't initially undestand what was causing the noise. I could not get the Honda dealer to acknowledge the noise and do the service until I was at 34,000 miles. This cost $70 in 2007. Now at 60,000 I need it again. My present mechanic says that I need to have ... Read More...

For my first 15- 20 years as a Honda owner, I changed the oil myself. For the least 10-15 my mechanic does a “service” every 3K. We drive 240 miles a weekend up north and back and the way I figure it, yes, it’s overkill, but no one ever robbed life from a vehicle by changing the oil too much. The last time I had the oil changed (at around 5K/ 60% on the maintenance minder) the mechanic said I was wasting my money to do it more often than when the maintenance minder got down to 20-30%. He said he used to work for a Honda shop and these cars are so "efficient" that the oil just doesn't need to be changed more often. I am old school and it just feels WRONG to go that ... Read More...
