2006 Honda CR-V
Vehicle
2006 Honda CR-V EX 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 5A)
Review
We have owned Hondas since 1976. This (2006 CRV) is by far the worst one. It drives like a truck without a suspension. Poor gas mileage (22 mpg) and very noisy. Very restricted leg room.
Favorite Features
Loading capability.
Suggested Improvements
Improve gas mileage. Reduce the noise. Change the suspension. Improve the leg room.

Review
The car is very dependable and has good power. However there are three points that are very bothersome. First, the paint is of pour quality and the exterior of my car is looking bad. I think I can scratch the paint job up with just my fingernail. Second, the car has a lot of road noise. Thirdly, the gas mileage was not as it stated on the sticker (23/29) when I bought it. I have never had better than 26 hwy and around the city i average 18 to 19 mpg.
Favorite Features
Car has good power.
Suggested Improvements
Needs better paint job and better gas mileage.

I have never felt as safe in a car as I do in this one. It never slips on the snowy Vermont roads. It handles very nicely, there is plenty of room inside, and nothing ever goes wrong with it. I wouldn't trade it for anything (except maybe a newer CR-V).

140,000 miles and going
Vehicle
2006 Honda CR-V EX 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl 5A)
Review
I have no mechanical problems at all with this car. The gas mileage is 26 on the hwy which should be better. The seats are very hard, had to buy a gel seat to sit on. It handles OK but in the wind it gets moved around some. Also, it is loud from road noise. My black paint is like cheap nail polish. But I am sure I will drive this over 200,000 and have no problems.
Favorite Features
very dependable
Suggested Improvements
better seat comfort, better paint, reduce the road noise

Stay AWAY from GEN2 CRV
Vehicle
2006 Honda CR-V LX 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 5A)
Review
It is soo LOUD, no sound proofing at all. Suspension is very stiff, almost the feeling of riding a buggy...my 3 yo can't even fall asleep, that's how loud and rough ride is. GAS mileage is bad too, averaging 22-23 on normal driving conditions. Car is too heavy for 4 cyl and drag factor is too high. My other Buick Regal is averaging 22mpg and comfort is stellar. Bought it almost new (12K mi) but I sold it in a year because it was very uncomfortable and LOUD, esp. with a little one inside. You feel every little irregularity in the pavement, struts are like filled with steel bars not gas, road noise and engine noise are impressively high. Don't trust the word of mouth. I'm very disappointed.
Favorite Features
Cargo and rear seat flexibility. Styling much better then newer 2007+.
Suggested Improvements
Speakers STINK, put a V6 and add soundproofing so that at least we can talk not yell while driving the CRV.

2006 CR-V
Vehicle
2006 Honda CR-V LX 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl 5A)
Review
Leased the car for my wife in 2006, no brainer decision to buy out the lease at present. The car has been perfect for the wife and small child as a daily driver and well suited for extended family drives/vacations. Sight lines are excellent, functionality is superb with the exception of the hinged back gate - would prefer an overhead rear door. Peppy enough to be fun and strong enough (AWD) for Philadelphia snow. Mileage is disappointing - Accords with the same engine get much better mileage - we've yet to break the 28MPG barrier on the hwy. 6-disc player and sound system is high quality. Reclining rear seats are nice. Overall this is a high value, very functional, simple car.
Favorite Features
Suggested Improvements
Rear gate should be overhead, better gas mileage.

First time Honda owner of a CR-V
Vehicle
2006 Honda CR-V EX 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl 5A)
Review
This is my 1st Honda vehicle. I am awestruck by the quality, ride, interior room, accessibility of the controls and the displays. The comfort of the seats and the room overall. The handling is magnificent. Instant response on turning and when the cruise control is on the precise speed at which the car is maintained in any terrain. The CR-V allows me to feel in exact control of all of the controls I need to feel safe and comfortable while driving. This vehicle is extremely quiet and gives me the feeling of a relaxed and tranquil environment. I will forever be a Honda owner.
Favorite Features
The 6 disc cd player. The ease of use of the radio settings and the steering wheel adjustment for the radio operation. The exact cruise control in keeping the speed exactly on the speed intended. The ease and use of the moon roof and the open feeling when opened.
Suggested Improvements
I am 6ft2in and long legged which a larger front driver area for my legs would be nice.

I drove an '01 SE till late '06 and was very satisfied. I just recently, 6/5/09, bought an '06 EX w/ 14k miles on it. Needed 4WD to get to WV but wanted the mileage too. Definitely not disappointed. Drive 30 miles to work each day - averaging 32 MPG. Drove a good distance to buy vehicle which was described as "pristine". Was not even close w/ scratches, chips, etc. Saw CR- V's with 50k miles in better condition. But overall, I am pleased w/ the vehicle.
Favorite Features
4wd, reclining rear seats, stg compartments, 6-cd changer, steering whl mounted controls
Suggested Improvements
Use plastic that is more scratch resistant on the inside.

2006 Honda CR-V
Vehicle
2006 Honda CR-V Special Edition 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl 5A)
Review
Overall the 2006 CR-V is a wonderful SUV, viewpoints very similar to all that have been said previously. Fuel economy could be better, I fill up sometimes 2 times per week, but the gas prices don't help either. I love the gated rear as opposed to my RX300 I "wrecked" last year..the CR-V was the replacement. The SUV is a little boring, miss my electric everything I will say. Radio is average, road noise is loud, comfort not bad.
Favorite Features
roomy, a lot of nooks and crannies to put things, gear shift funny location but works, car looks great
Suggested Improvements
power everything, better radio, better paint job, too easy to chip and scratch
