Consumer Ratings & Reviews
Great SUV
Vehicle
2004 Honda CR-V LX AWD 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 5M)
Review
The vehicle has been all that I expected and more. I am not one of the morons who buy a car thinking that I will never have a problem. The few issues that I had were either diagnosed as normal or fixed under the warranty. The CR-V is a pleasure to own and drive. It handles well and is good on gas. I am 6'-3" and fit in the car well. The interior is well designed (except the silly gear shift lever) and comfortable. The sound system is great. The sun roof is a great feature, never a leak. The fold down tray between the front seats is very handy. There is great small item storage. Mechanically, it is a solid car. Take care of it and it will run and run and ...
Favorite Features
Utility - this vehicle does many things well. It holds a five person family with only a little tightness in back seat. With the back seats down, it has a tremendous cargo capacity. With the optional bike rack the dealer installed, it is great getting to and from rides. It is sharp and fun!
Suggested Improvements
Make the next generation more like the 2004-2005 genre. Stay away from the pretty look of the 2007.
Good choice!

2004 Honda CR-V EX AWD 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 5M)
Review
This suv is fun to drive, has plenty of room. It's a bit noisy, but way less than any truck I've owned. Bought it with the miles of 2006 (as an '04 in 2008), and am very happy with it.
Favorite Features
awd, abs, alloy wheels, folding seats, stick is very responsive. Slows well with downshifting, tires are not the ones that came originally, so that appears to be a plus. Same MPG as my 4 cyl 2001 Honda Accord, which is great. (even with the $4/gal gas!) Could do better nowadays, tho.
Suggested Improvements
Based on other reviews, I'll be needing a new A/C compressor soon (39,000 miles so far) Other than that, I'd make the seats a bit more comfortable. No way to open the back door (even with keyless?!?) without using the key?
OIL SENSORS
Vehicle
2004 Honda CR-V LX Fwd 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 4A)
Review
We are very disappointed in our CR-V. It is our first Honda. Even with perfect maintenance, we have had two oil sensors go out which causes the engine to choke. We were traveling at 70 mph the second time and were almost hit. We have had to replace the cam shafts also which is very unusual. At 65000 miles, our air conditioner blew a whole in the condenser. As you can see, we feel ours was built on a Friday at 3:00 p.m.!

Love the Car, Hate American Honda
Vehicle
2004 Honda CR-V EX AWD 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 5M)
Review
Bought this car brand new in 2004. Have loved it ever since. Live in MI so more cold than warmth. Great car for the snow.AC just blew up on the road in the middle of Nov07. Wasn't even being used.Car has 104,000 miles on it. Called Honda after researching and finding out this a well known problem w/ the Air Compressors. Honda said because the dealer found clutch in April of 08 Rusted out in my bumper my car must have been in a collision. HELLO! Salt, SNOW.Yeah it rusted. No GOODWILL WARRANTY FOR ME. I have never had a single warranty claim and Honda can't help me out. Car has NEVER been in an accident. If I lived in Florida this would have happened a lot sooner. Will not buy a Honda again!
Favorite Features
Seats that recline fold down for storage.
Suggested Improvements
Stop screwing people with the 02-06 CRV's and pony up for the crappy air compressor that explodes spontaneously.

A nice, cute and solid car
Vehicle
2004 Honda CR-V LX AWD 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I bought this car after deciding to downsize from my Dodge Caravan, but I still needed room for my 3 dogs. This car holds the dogs, and all my stuff, and I still love driving it after 4 years. I had to replace the original tires after 33,000 miles but other than that have had to do nothing but regular oil changes and recommended service. I hope to keep and drive it for many years to come.
Favorite Features
I love the fold-down rear seats, the moon roof, the in-dash 6-CD player. Plenty of room to carry stuff around.
Suggested Improvements
Like others I get about 21-22 mpg around town, 27-28 mpg on the highway. This is worse than my 1996 Dodge Caravan. I'd hoped for better in a smaller 4 cyl. car. I wish there was more leg room for front passenger. It can be painful for long rides. Better rear visibility too when parallel parking.
