2010 Honda CR-V News from Dealer

Re: 2010 CRV [stevedebi]

My 2003 EX had to have the rear fluid changed at 15K or it started making noises back there. The manual said 30K intervals. I don't mind following the manual, but the manual should be accurate. From what I can tell, people are still having issues with the rear differential requiring more frequent fluid changes than the "maintenance minder" indicates. I believe ... Read More...

Honda CR-V AC Compressor Problems

Re: Another dead Honda compressor [pdoe]

I purchased my 2003 Honda CR-V used in early 2004. Recently, I had a traumatic experience when the compressor of my A/C locked up in heavy traffic, shutting down the engine. Fortunately, I had the presence of mind to switch off the A/C, since I heard the most AWFUL noise coming from under the hood. When I did, the noise went away, but the engine had died, and I kept having ... Read More...

Re: Update on lawsuit [zgreat1]

Does anyone have more information on this pending lawsuit? That is, the number of owners who have filed, the cost of filing, the type of settlement and the proposed settlement date, etc. My 2003 CR-V a/c hissed (and blew hot air right after that) on (of all day) ....9/11/09...with less than 70,000 miles on the odometer!!! Jus tlike with every other "class action" ... Read More...

Honda CR-V Maintenance and Repair

Re: 2003 CRV problems - which can I do myself? [boslaw71]

Well,....The first thing you should do is get a second opinion from a reputable shop. Walmart will change your battery or you can buy one and change it yourself. Be sure you have the radio code before you do this or you will wish you had paid to have it changed. Spark plugs are changed at 100K miles I believe and are about $80.00 (for 4, Iridium?) and about 20 minutes ... Read More...

Honda CR-V AC Compressor Problems

Re: Another dead Honda compressor [hondaacstinks]

I first experienced what Honda referred to as the "Black Death" (metal shards contaminating the whole A/C system) at 99,000 miles in my 2003 Honda CR-V bank in 2007. I had bought the extended warranty so it was covered, otherwise they quoted me $3800 plus labor. So here I am 2 years later and my compressor has locked up once again. I'm extremely disillusioned with ... Read More...

2003 CRV cabin air filters

Just to let everyone know that there is a video procedure about changing out the cabin air filters(also in the service book) for 2nd generation CRV's. Just google it and it should come up. Ordered my filters from an online honda parts place for half of what the dealer wants and saved the high cost to replace from the dealer. It was really easy. Mine were filthy and ... Read More...

Re: 2003 Honda CRV 4WD [cscalera]

Hi. I am new to the forum and have a question about my husbands CRV. His car failed inspection for emissions. The code was P1166 which apparently is the O2 sensor. I am more than willing to replace it myself since Honda wants a ridiculous amount of money to do it. I know I will need an O2 socket, but my question is this: Is there any way to tell which O2 sensor is bad? There ... Read More...

Re: 2003 Honda CRV 4WD [cscalera]

Christine: Just in case this might help, the trouble code reads like this: "P1166 Primary H02S (No. 1) Heater System Electrical" Wish I could offer more, but I'd be the blind leading the blind. Cheers, Jack Read More...

Honda CR-V AC Compressor Problems

Re: VIN numbers [w1john]

The VIN on my 2003 CR-V begins with SHSR. This is a terrible injustice that Honda can make lemons and never have to recall or compensate the customer. I assuredly will NEVER buy a Honda again and will try to convince anyone I know who wants a Honda to stick with Toyota. Thanks for the info on VIN's Read More...
