Honda CR-V Prices Paid and Buying Experience

2010 Honda CRV EX-L - Purchased

We were able to get a price of $25,900 for a 2010 EX-L in New England. I suggest checking out the pricing on cars.overstock.com, as they had the lowest guaranteed pricing and I was able to get another dealer to match the pricing. Probably lost some money on the trade-in a 2001 CRV for $5500, but happy with the experience overall. My wife is excited about her new car. Read More...

Honda CR-V Prices Paid and Buying Experience

Purchased 2010 CRV EX-L 4WD, no navigation in MN

I have been going though the process of deciding, researching, pricing, and finally purchasing this vehicle for months and it's a relief for it to be complete. Purchase price was $26,799 +TTL and a $75 doc fee. I also purchased the cargo mat, cargo net, front splash guards, and all-season mats at cost. From the search I did around the Twin Cities, I believe I got ... Read More...

Honda CR-V AC Compressor Problems

2001 CR-V AC went today

my CR-V, with 186,000 miles had the AC go out today. There was a little bit of smoke from under the hood before I turned the AC off. I dropped the car at my Firestone shop today, they will check it tomorrow. The mechanic took a quick look under the hood and said the compressor was trying to engage. I will let you know what I find out. After reading the posts, I fear the worst! ... Read More...

CR-V vs Escape

Re: Dimensions [motoguy128]

I own a 2004 Ford Escape Limited. When my wife and I were shopping for her vehicle we test drove the CR-V as well from 2004. Its clear which SUV won. I also like the looks of the 2005-2007 Escape better then our 2001-2004 generation (front styling for the most part). The 2008 and up Escape is also nice but it "looks" a little bit less rugged and more gussied up bling-bling ... Read More...

Honda CR-V AC Compressor Problems

Re: extended warranty and a/c problems [lori56]

"Did anyone who experienced a/c problems have an extended warranty, Honda Care? Shouldn't it cover these expenses? " My father in law had his 2001 (late model) CR-V compressor blow, and it was covered under the Hondacare warranty. Read More...

CR-V vs Escape

Re: CRV vs Escape vs RAV4 [explorerx4]

The CR-V currently is on its 3rd generation (1997-2001)(2002-2006)(2007-currently) and the Escape is on its 2nd generation (2001-2007)(2008-currently) the fact that the CR-V is on its 3rd generation has nothing to do with how Honda's design may have flaws. Honda has always used a 4-year lifespan for each of its models up until the new millenium in which it ... Read More...

Honda CR-V Timing Belt

Re: replacing belts on 2001 Honda CRV [lal6]

What usually causes you to break down on older cars is the "little" stuff and drive belts fall in that category. I did my '99 minivan's belts last year and I'm sure they were overdue at 124,000 miles. But it's not just the miles, it's their age. In theory, most belts are good for 100k, but you should at least have them checked for cracks or excessive wear. (Tom's Corner ... Read More...

Re: replacing belts on 2001 Honda CRV [steve_]

OK, thanks. I'll ask my mechanic what he thinks about the water pump. But what about the drive belts? Should they all automatically be replaced at this point? (I've got 65,000 miles on the car). Read More...

Re: replacing belts on 2001 Honda CRV [blueiedgod]

Not specific to Hondas, but I've been reading a few posts in recent months that discourage people from "automatically" replacing water pumps whenever the timing belt is replaced. Some mechanics seem to think they rarely fail. If I was doing a timing belt at 60k intervals, I might skip it the first time. For the 105k interval, I'd probably put a new one in. Read More...
