Honda CR-V Timing Belt

Re: timing belt question - Engine Type (interfer or non-interfer) [mikek847]

My mechanice read off a list while looking at the Honda site and as I remember 99 were supposed to replace at around 6 years but any mechanic can bring up that information. If it was a non interfere I wouldn't think there would be anything about months mentioned, just mileage as it wouldn't be a problem it if broke. From what the mechanic told me on my 2000 CR-V and before ... Read More...

Re: timing belt question - Engine Type (interfer or non-interfer) [mikek847]

I don't know what you mean by interfere. The mechanic read off the different months and mileage for each year but I don't remember what yours was but it was pretty close to mine. Mine is a 2000 so I would guess they are about the same. All the Honda's CR-V's have this same type of belt that needs replacing. Read More...

Re: timing belt replacement with low miles [canyon711]

Yes, its true I have a 2000 CRV with less than 24,000 miles on it. I just took my car in to have it all checked out and it was suggested that I consider having the timing belt done in the near future since it was past the recommended number of months that Honda suggested replacement. I think it was 7 years and I am going on 10. This is a repair place many people I know go to and ... Read More...

2010 Honda CR-V News from Dealer

Re: Still No Homelink? [cslasor]

Does anybody know if the 2010 CR-V will have the Homelink system on any of the models? It was standard on my 2000 Accord EX-L and I'm surprised it's not on the CR-V yet. On Gen 2 and Gen 2.5 simple map lights (with sunglass holder) transplant from Acura TL or Honda Oddyssey ($40 on ebay) resulted with fully functional Home link with 3 buttons and matching OEM colors. ... Honda CR-V Prices Paid and Buying Experience

Re: Seriously thinking about CRV - anyone have true invoice costs? [bairdjc]

It would be on Edmunds or kbb. Though they may vary by a hundred or so. I am considering waiting for the 2010s now myself. It will have a larger armrest, a compass, auto off headlights, and 14 more h.p. I really like auto off headlights. I have them now on my 2000 Pathfinder and can't imagine living w/o them. Some guy was recently visiting a neighbor across the street. ... Read More...

First dealer visit and drive

Had a real painless experience today. Got my mind off "other things" (never forget!) for a little while. Test drove a CRV EX. Plenty of headroom. Cabin did feel a little cramped, but I'm used to a 2000 Pathfinder. I'm like 5'11"-6' and around 219-220. Car, and I would never call this vehicle a truck, LOL, was unobjectionable. Quiet, smooth, silky, decent interior ... Read More...

Honda CR-V Rear Differential Problem?

Re: 2007 Honda AWD CRV Differential Problems [isellhondas]

So, how much longer will an engine last that has had 3-4000 mile oil changes vs. one that only gets an oil change every 7500 miles? You're assuming that oil at 7500 miles offers significantly less protection than at 4000. Why not change hte oil at 1000 then? Why is 3000 OK and 2000 too short??? The reality is 3000 miles itnervals were originally used as a standard for ... Read More...

Honda CR-V Prices Paid and Buying Experience

Re: Chicago CRV EXL w/Navi [bigdadi118]

Just to give everyone an update. We purchased the CRV EXL w/Navi last night from Castle Honda in Chicago. Really feel like we got a great deal with our Cash for Clunker. Traded in a 2000 Ford Explorer Sport for the fully loaded CRV EXL. We negotiated the price of the EXL down to $26,000 off of the sticker $29,600 before the C4C trade in. We did business w/Mike A via the ... Read More...
