After deciding that it was finally time to quit repairing older cars and just invest in something new, I researched, drove, looked at, and considered just about every manufacturer in the compact SUV market, and the choice was the 2012 CR-V EX-L, (no nav).
This drives like a car, turns on a dime, well, maybe a nickel..but incredible turning radius, the inside is ridiculously roomy, and the dash and controls are laid out in a simplistic and easy to use manner. It's still less than a month old, so I will try to update any issues again later. Go drive one, go drive the competition, and see for yourself.
The ultimate review? After owning one for two weeks, I bought a second one. It's that fun.
Love the room inside; I'm 6'3 and have plenty of shoulder, leg, hip and head room even with the moonroof!
Cargo space is amazingly large, and the easy flip down rear seats just make it a breeze when you need the extra space.
The EX-L models come with a 325 watt 7 speaker sound system w/subwoofer; the sound is clear and full. More than you'll probably ever need.
Love the interior dash, controls; and the included usb/aux jacks in the center console between the front seats allow for just about ANY type of input.
And yes, it has MORE smartphone capabilities than their website would lead to believe; my Galaxy Nexus actually is compatible with the 'read text' function!
Very user friendly!
All the reviews I read prior, kept complaining about lack of V-6 and power; the power in the 4cyl is plenty for your everyday driving.
Only thing perhaps lacking would be a remote open for the liftback, but that's minor and nitpicking.
I'm not a huge car buff or car nut, it just works. And it's fun to drive.
