My 2005 Honda CRV owner's manual says to change the ATF for the first time at 120,000 miles or 6 years. Thereafter, change the ATF at 90,000 or every 5 years. Mr. Shiftright: The owner's manual for my 2005 CRV states the brake fluid should be REPLACED every three years without regard to mileage. Regarding FLUSHING, the "Honda Service News" of February 2006 clearly states: "Honda maintenance schedule neither requires nor approves of aftermarket flushing of systems." Speed buzzer??? Where do you live that they require a speed buzzer when you exceed 120kph? That's not terribly fast. Is this something that a insurance company will give you a break for installing the device? Are you from Canada? I can only assume thsi is an aftermarket device that a good shop should be able to remove or disable. It's probably plugged into the ECU wiring harness wince it needs ... Read More

We have a 2006 CRV and the compressor blew up internally. Whole system needs replacement to the cost of $3565.13. Technician explained that there would be fragments inbedded in the rubber hoses and if they replaced the compressor the fragments could work loose and damage the new compressor. The district rep agreed to pay for 100% of the repair (about $2,200). The only requirement was that we had to let the dealer do a 40,000 mile maintenance check. We're glad that Honda is owning up to its design problem. Anyhow, they should have recalled the part.

The manual does indeed says that the fluid needs to be replaced at 60,000 mile intervals. But, anyone with any technical understanding will see that there is no way it will last that long. It is pure marketing ploy to get CR-V listed as low 5 year cost of ownership. The true DPF longevity is about 15,000 mile, and Honda technitians know it.
