2014 Honda Civic Coupe LX 2dr Coupe (1.8L 4cyl CVT)

Review

I bought a new Honda Civic a year ago and from that time on I have had problems. Bad tire, bad hubcaps, paint coming off, RUST, oil pan not sealed when built, defective windshield. Honda has not stood behind this lemon and I will never buy another of their vehicles. Back to Toyota for me! I now have 9000 miles on this car.

2014 Honda Civic Coupe EX 2dr Coupe (1.8L 4cyl 5M)

Review

The 2014 Civic is a really inexpensive car. The mid-line EX with the fog lights option, has everything a premium car has, for under $22K, except leather. It's not as sporty as the WRX or Lancer, but it's sporty enough and way less expensive. It's not as powerful either, but it's more than powerful enough, even with Econ on all the time.

Best Features

It's a good looking car. It takes regular gas. It needs an oil change twice a year. Nothing has ever failed on my last three Civics. It gets around 39 MPG average no matter how hard you drive it. The power windows are really powerful and never get stuck closed in winter. It heats up fast on the coldest days. The interior is very well-appointed for a car in this price range. The stereo sounds great, and you can really crank it with decent bass and no distortion. The new traction control feature is amazing--turn the wheel and no matter how slippery the ground under you, the car goes where you point it by gently braking the inside wheels. The heads-up speedometer display is a must in any car.

Worst Features

No convenient place for loose change. My 2011 had this cool little change slot in front of the handbrake that you could grab a handful of change out of without even looking. The 2014 has a big multi-purpose tray with a rubber mat in the bottom that makes trying to pick up a coin like being the victim a mean practical joke.

2014 Honda Civic Coupe EX 2dr Coupe (1.8L 4cyl 5M)

Review

Having already owned 3 Hondas, I had a pretty good idea of what to expect from the 2014 Civic. The superior build quality is typically Honda, as is the great gas mileage. The specifications and features are pretty high on the EX model, although there are some competitors (mainly Hyundai and Kia) who might offer 6 speed trans or satellite radio for example, within the same category/price range. That said, I'm a firm believer in the durability and craftsmanship found in every Honda model, so these are small sacrifices in my eyes. The car is beautifully finished overall, from the solid feel of the switches and controls on the interior, to the fit of the exterior panels, lights and trim.

Best Features

The crisp, powerful sound system wouldn't be out of place on a much higher spec vehicle such as any of my 2 previous BMWs or Audi. While most cars now have an onboard computer of some kind, Honda's seems to be one of the more intuitive, offering a wide range of figures in a convenient and well displayed manner. Although the Lane Watch feature is a bit of a gimmick in my eyes, the backup camera is a great feature that I've really grown to appreciate, as are the heated seats.

Worst Features

The Lane Watch feature seems a little pointless, in that it only covers the passenger side of the car. Blind spots are found on both sides of the vehicle, so how is it that Honda have identified a need for it only on one side? Attention to detail seems to be lacking somewhat in a couple of places, such as the lack of a handle inside the trunk lid, as found on virtually all other cars I've tested, and maybe a volume dial on the premium stereo, the touch screen control really isn't as convenient (as many others seem to have mentioned). Also, why are there locating clips for the driver's floor mat and the rear passenger side mat, but not the other two? Small oversights, but worth mentioning.

2014 Honda Civic Coupe LX 2dr Coupe (1.8L 4cyl CVT)

Review

First new car and I have no regrets. Averaging 35 mpg, build quality is good and car is plenty powerful. Two tier dash takes some getting used to it but no issues now. Back up camera is awesome and so is Bluetooth.

Best Features

Bluetooth, back up camrea, CVT, performance,

Worst Features

I wish the seat went back more, but no issues so far.
