i purchased a 2013 civic on december 2 2012 two weeks after i started hearing a "thunk" sound from the gasoline tank and the gasoline sloshing in the gasoline tank, the thunk is really aparent when i brake and the car stops i took it to honda and they say its normal, its a really anoying sound u can hear and feel the "thunk" the dealer FREEWAY HONDA in santa ana california no help at all,(stay away from this dealer) that means im going to have to live with that noise untill im able to trade the car in for a different brand with out taking any lo$s, the dealer doesnt even answer my emails now it seems that HONDAs quality is going down Buyer Be WARE!!!!!!!

I purchase a 2012 civic si sedan on April 3rd of 2012 and can confirm the the gasoline sloshes back and fourth when you step on the brakes. It is especially noticeable when the tank is half full. At first I thought it was stuff in the trunk. After emptying it out, it sounded worse as the thud or thunk is much clearer with the trunk empty.
I have not noticed anysloshing in my Civic.
If you feel that this is a defect, 1st take other Civics for a ride to see if it is characteristic of other Honda Civics. You would have something to compare you car with.
If it unique to your car then you canuse consumer laws to help you. Ask to speak to the district service rep and let him hear the problem.
Never accept the dealers word as final expecially when your not happy and feel there is a legit complaint.
I have owned 5 Hondas and there have been problems...all fixed to my satisifaction.
With all the parts and tech in cars, all makes have problems.
Honda takes care of their customers with valid problems.
