I’m a member of the class and subclass, have lost 25% of former fuel efficiency and significant power to accelerate, and am quite unhappy with the pittance proposed in the settlement. I offer some constructive points to write to the Administrator about. If many of us send complaints about the proposed settlement that focus on our need to be made whole, to receive the benefit of the bargain we made with ... Read More
Hello lynnske2012, Thanks for your opinion, i got a used car today... its again a Honda Civic 2008 LX 4door, with 30K miles, for 11,600 + tax and fees, i know its not really too good a deal, but new car was costing around 17,500 minimum and i was thinking may be we should not put too much money into it. 12.28.2011 I am taking my 2009 Civic Hybrid into to John Eagle Honda in Dallas, TX today. Same IMA issue as others have noted, except my mileage is only 42,000. One just can't present a resonable dissenting opinion without objection from you or your pal Mr sandman. The simple fact is this....no matter how you might spin it 2006 through 2008 Civics have a far greater chance (as opposed to 2006-2008 Toyota Corollas or 2006-2008 Nissan Sentras or 2006-2008 whatever's) to develop an engine block crack. This is a factual issue otherwise we would NOT be having this little debate. Fact, ... Read More

Hello, all. I know a lot of you have had issues with the HCH II. I bought mine about 6 months ago at a rock bottom price when dealers were lousy with hybrids. I thought the HCH II was an "okay" car. All tires on todays new cars are cheap. To get 30k on a set can be an achievment for some. All four tires are the same size making friendly tire rotations a breeze. On my Calif. 800 mile round trip, I averaged 42 mpg, w/passenger, A/C on, luggage in trunk. Driving around 200 miles in town and around 200 miles ... Read More
I had to pick up a couple of 2006 HCH battery packs from a junkyard today, so I used my wife's 2008 Chrysler Town & Country (3.8L V6). When I got in, I saw that the mpg meter read 12.9. I reset it and drove a mixed highway and city loop of about 40 miles. I also turned off the AC (it's December). The car has a 6 speed automatic, so ... Read More
Living in the colder winter climates, people that own Civic Hybrids are now more than likely starting to experience the annual lose of between 7-10 Mpg!! This has been my dilema since the 08'/ 09 winter when I first started seeing this major loss of fuel economy. When I went to my dealership, they had no solutions or explanations. When I called Honda of America[corporate headquarters] they couldn't come with any answers either. ... Read More
Corey, I never did resolve my reception problem. My local Honda dealer is dumbfounded and/or in denial (depending on who you talk to). Like you, I've been told my tint is non-metallic. I haven't pushed the issue at all with Honda. It seems like more trouble than it's really worth to me. My wife drives our Civic, and she generally doesn't listen to AM stations. If you ever find a solution ... Read More
Thought I'd bump this. Having the same issue myself with my new 2009 Civic. Very poor AM reception (FM is fine), particularly once I get out of the urban area I work in and out into the rural area where I live. Unlistenable. The AM is fine in my 2001 Civic. The receptions get even worse if I turn on my side mirror defrosters. I haven't tried the recepetion with the ... Read More
I received a letter from my dealer stating that their used car inventory was wiped out by "Cash for Clunkers" and they would like to buy back my 2008 Honda Civic LX. I checked their inventory online and they only have 4 Civics on the (used) lot. My car is one year old, has 38K on it (I have a big commute), VIN Etching, the "Performance Package" (pin striping, lug nut ... Read More
Hi,I purchased a new 2008 civic hybrid in June and after two four wheel alignments, about a month apart, the car still drifts to the right on a level road when the steering wheel is let go. Is this normal for this car? Could this drifting have anything to do with the rear control arms? My dealership advises that they had tested 4 new nonhybrid civics from their lot and all ... Read More
check out my posting, number 108 in this thread.. there is a tsb that covers this issue and I just got the work done "free." TSB 08-001. eljoh
Does anyone know of a class action suit against Honda for the civic hybrid judder/transmission issue? Someone posted back in October of 2008 about this.
I just have to let you know that I decided that I wasn't going to put up with Honda and its attitude about these tires so I went out and found a 2008 Prius program car with the exact same features my 2008 Civic Hybrid has and since it did not affect my monthly payments and only had 8000 miles on it I traded in the Civic Hybrid and never looked ... I have exactly the same problem (HCH 2008) . At 14000 miles I went to the dealer for 1st minor service, they told me the rear-tire edges are wearing down, need to change two tires and recommended to do alignment by paying $99.I had my initial oil change done at 7000 miles, they did not tell me anything at that time. After I showed my frustration, dealer tells me to check ... Read More
at 19000 miles, just recently found out abt the control arms and tire replacements...and obviously honda is not paying anything to replace tires. Has anyone had any luck on any complaints against the company regarding this problem coz the AH doesnt seem to care. Also had a problem with external water pump last year...i guess thats so much for a honda....there ends my honda loyalty.
Could you please tell me more about these Yokohama AVID TRZ substitutes? Isn't it funny that Honda only recognizes 2 tire brands with each one having one model for the Civic Hybrid but yet if you take this problem we have been discussing to Honda then its the "tire manufacturer's fault"? Does that even make sense?
After dealer replacement of rear upper control arms on my 06 HCH (after of a year of bullshit excuses when they knew of the problem; a buddy ran his Civic off the road from bad tires), it is much better but not perfect; tires still tilted inward and wear on the inside. However, I may be fooled by better wearing tires (Yokohama AVID TRZ; almost as good mileage (high 40s to ... Read More
I now know from these postings that there is a design flaw in my 2008 Civic Hybrid and its tire wear. It started at about 23000 miles and now at 32000 it is almost unbearable! I, too, have had my tires rotated by our Honda dealer with every oil change and have record of such. After all, who else am I going to take it to for an oil change? After ... Read More
Hi hollywoodfla1! Welcome to the forums.. Since this is a pricing discussion, you might try posting your problem in the Honda Civic 2006-2007 Issues discussion, and see if anyone else has had your problem, and what sort of result they had. regards, kyfdx Host-Prices Paid Forums
First time here. I own a 2006 Honda Civic w/ 56K miles. Long story short- smelled like my car was overheating..hours later checked hoses, water etc..no apparent issues. Towed it to my mechanic- He states that once they did a pressure test that a stream of water pissed out of the ENGINE BLOCK? He said in his 40 yrs working on hondas he has never seen anything like it. Took it ... Read More
