Bad Civic 2007

2007 Honda Civic EX 4dr Sedan w/Navigation System (1.8L 4cyl 5A)

I have a 07 Honda Civ & I have had several problems.I had to have my front brake pads/rotors replaced after just over a & 10Kmi. I received a recall for the steering column & ABS Wheel Sensor. My calipers stick & Honda told me that it was not under warranty. This is a major car part that PREMATURELY wears down the brake pads. My VERY trusted mechanic informed me that he noticed a lot of problems with Hondas braking system. I will NEVER buy another one. I got all of the factory scheduled maintenance including regular oils changes. I only drive this car to school & work,9K mi/yr, & in CA so the weather has never been a factor. My car may be 1 of a few lemons, but it is DEFIANTLY a LEMON!!!!

Nice Little Car w/ Bad Tires
Vehicle
2007 Honda Civic EX 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 5A)
Review
I've owned this car for more than a year now. I drive a lot of highway and city mix miles and this car has performed excellent in both city and highway with one exception. The factory Bridgestone tires are absolute pieces of junk and wore out at 17,000 miles. Honda seems to have realized this as the latest Civics I've seen have Goodyear tires on them. Other than the tires, the car accelerates nicely and is fairly comfortable for two average sized people. The fuel mileage ranges in the 33-34 MPG area no matter how I drive, and I don't drive conservatively. The stereo is excellent as long as you don't want to install XM Radio. That will cost you $500 if you can find someone to do it.
Favorite Features
Exterior design is nice, the all digital gauges are a little odd at first but you quickly grow to love them. The steering is very responsive.
Suggested Improvements
Horrible factory tires on this car. I would also make the passenger seats a little higher- they are hard for a 5 foot eight person to sit in for long drives.

I LOVE this car!!

I had given lots of thought as to what car I really wanted and this was one of the main options, with the others being 1.BMW M3, 2.Mitsub. Evo IX, and the IS300.. I can in all honesty say I would not trade my car for none of those (well, maybe the m3 :-). It simply has the best of all worlds: Interior/exterior design, FUEL MILEAGE (I'm getting 30+MPG consistently), features, reliability, cost of Aft.Market parts, love the stock rims so don't have to buy aftermarket ones (Will paint them black with red lip though). Everything about it excites me and that transmission.. OMG awesome! cant get enough of it.. If you are thinking about buying one, don't hesitate and DO IT!
Favorite Features
EVERYTHING!! transmission is awesome!! (After 3rd gear was repaired - All Honda 6speed trannies have a problem in w the 2nd to 3rd gear synchro, but theres a TSB out and the dealer fixed it for free)
Suggested Improvements
Can't think of any! for the price, this car is a steal!

Civics are bullet proof!

2007 Honda Civic LX 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 5A)

Without a doubt this is the best car I've ever owned. I am 6'2" and have plenty of room, even when I'm in the back seat. I got 'no haggle' internet invoice pricing with low 4.9% APR financing. There is a TSB on 07 Civic's because of a rear control arm assembly which causes vibrations over 45 MPH. I took it to the dealer - they fixed it promptly at no charge to me & put on a set of new Goodyear tires! Most of my driving is highway driving and I average 33-37 MPG.
Favorite Features
Blue dash lights. Solid ride. High MPG!

MPG not as good as they say!!!

2007 Honda Civic LX 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 5A)
Review
I leased my 2007 Honda Civic almost one year ago and I am very disappointed with the MPG on this car. I am averaging about 20 and that to me is ridiculous. I bought this car because of the great fuel efficiency it was supposed to have and it has not met my expectations. I was told that it would average around 28 city and highway combined. I have not seen 24 or higher yet. Of course they told me that the engine needs to be worked in and then I will get better gas mileage but after 6000 miles I have seen anything yet. I also saw someone else on a discussion board say they recommend 10-15k before you see better gas mileage. My lease will be up before then. I am very disappointed in Honda.
Favorite Features
Everything but the gas mileage.

Fix the MPG problem!!

Review
One year into ownership, purchased it new. I've owned 3 previous Hondas and 1 Acura so I thought it would be a no brainer. The ride is pretty rough, the steering and handling is excellent. The seats really are not bad at all, a 2 hour trip to LA and back is not difficult for a compact. My mileage is around 325 per tank. I drive it kinda hard, my last car was a VR6 GTI and I MISS THAT CAR for the overall driving experience. I have 16K on this one. Drivers side visor just broke and I hardly use it. Automatic transmission was not a good choice for this size engine, not smooth and robs power. I'm a stick guy anyway, oh well. Time to sell this and get another hatchback, there are lots of choices.
Favorite Features
I can fit a lot in the trunk. Acceleration off the line is not bad, cornering, cute factor, stock radio in the EX is decent. Steering wheel, dash and center console, cup holders are nice, functional.
Suggested Improvements
Put a 2.0 in this thing, fix the interior cheap plastic visors, better tires and maybe do something about the blind spots, there is poor visibility. After driving a VW for 7 years this car feels like a tin can, seriously. And while VW had some serious reliability issues I might still get another one

As for blind spots: the B-pillar is thick, but the rear passenger windows allow for more than ample eye sight (these are things you notice on a test drive, not 2 months later!). As for the quality ext./int. yes its cheaper, but for the price the quality is more than sufficient, and the design is quite nice. Go look at Chevy and tell me you don't love Honda interiors. Performance wise, this is sufficient, but definitely not sporty. The engine has 140 hp@6300, and 128 lb-ft@4300. So really, I've no complaints about this car, and have been quite happy with its MPG. I recommend it to any one needing an economical car that is almost guaranteed to last 300,000+ miles if you care for it.
Favorite Features
Comfortable ride. Telescopic steering wheel. Folding rear seats. Excellent MPG. Smooth transmission. Relatively quiet interior. Excellent steering, although overly light. Interior design blows all equal priced competitors away. Honda made, so its good for 300,000+ miles under proper maintenance.
Suggested Improvements
Offer leather interior. Include stereo controls on steering wheel.
CNG Honda- feels good to drive

2007 Honda Civic GX 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 5A)
Review
Cannot choose which I like more, driving by the gas stations with $5 per gal displayed, or looking at the exhaust pipe after 10,000 miles and it looks totally new! The "feel good" factor is strong..stronger than when I drove the Honda Insight, and far more comfortable too! The Civic body styling is light years ahead of the older Civic along with the functionality too. Only one complaint to those who are 5'10" or taller. That emergency brake hits you just below the right knee and after longer drives is a total pain! Think I'm going to remove it, then all is very, very nice. Range is a little short, but my daily drives are not that far. In short, the US should get on the ball and CNG more.
Favorite Features
Can carry 4 persons or drive just by myself around town with no guilt at all.
Suggested Improvements
Move that emergency brake handle! Make Navi an option. Have very large stickers that cover the car showing it is CNG or Natural Gas Auto...show the masses, instead of whispering...

Reliable gas miser
Vehicle
2007 Honda Civic GX 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 5A)
Review
After driving my SUV into the ground, I decided to quit spending so much at the gas pump. I wanted the most reliable, fuel efficient (somewhat) inexpensive car I could find. At one year and 8,000 miles, it has fulfilled my expectations. I would highly recommend this car.
Favorite Features
The wrench "idiot light" on the dash lets me know when to service the vehicle.
Suggested Improvements
The tires are really really small, so bumps pot-holes can be traumatic. Uphills are sluggish if you don't get a "running start".

One year old and 12,000 miles
Vehicle
2007 Honda Civic LX 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 5A)
Review
Overall a fine car for city and highway driving. It's all Honda, handling and acceleration remind me of previous Honda's I've owned. Dealer service is OK - they didn't correctly diagnose a power steering noises the first time. A week later, another service writer, and description "morning sickness" got the problem fixed. A seal wasn't correctly seated which starved the pump of power steering fluid. New pump installed, two-day stay at dealer and it's running great. MPG has increased to 37 from 34 before the repairs.
Favorite Features
Two-tier gauges, zip-around-town acceleration, tight suspension, GR8 brake. Everything was designed into the car, not an after thought.
Suggested Improvements
Bridgestone Turunza tires are noisy and lousy in snow, A/C compressor cut-out around town - so I close the sunroof shade to reduce interior heat while driving. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a sunroof.
