2007 HCH Owner: What Honda is doing with this battery issue is criminal. I mean literally criminal - it is fraud. I'm not a lawyer, but really, what else can you call it. I get recals constantly. There used to be an AutoStop light I saw all the time. A few months ago, I saw it and thought for a second "what's that"? Then I remembered besides by mileage going to ... Read More
Currently have 175K+ miles on the vehicle, had battery changed at 140K (Honda changed it for free without any request from me after they did a software change and determined that my battery was in need of replacement). FYI, I get my oil changed by Honda every 7.5K miles. I get the transmission fluid/filter changed every 30K miles by Honda. I refused all other offered service. I replaced the front disks ... Ogre GEV, You seem to be the most knowledgeable poster here, so i direct this to you. I am the original owner of a 2007 HCH. My total average MPG (as displayed on the dashboard, aggregate since incept, is 50.9). This display is always conservative compared to my calculations. Every tankful I average between 52.0 and 55.0 MPG. I drive in the 2nd lane from the right on Los Angeles freeways, ... Read More
Just have to interject a comment here - in my immediate and extended family (including myself), there are 7 2007-2009 Civics, and 4 had to have the engine block replaced - not exactly a "VERY limited" problem in my view. Oh, and 2 others had the tire cupping/uneven wear problem. Some built in Ontario, some in Indiana, and one in Ohio. Sure, any car can have problems, but it seems the ... Read More
As an insurance agent, I get this sort of question all the time. Customers will ask my opinion on what vehicle they should get for their teenage kids. It amazes me how many parents gravitate toward SUVs (especially mid/full-sized ones) thinking they're the best choice of vehcile ... Read More
You should describe how the car is driving. Hybrid cars are very different than regular cars, especially in the transmission. They have no definate 'shift' between gears as they are infinitely variable between low and high range. Several people have asked if the trans was slipping when riding in my civic hybrid. Here is one completely torn apart if it will help you :) http://hchdoctorstransmissionpage.yolasite.com This is a 2008 model, but ... Read More
Can someone explain to me what a slipping transmission sounds/feels like on a hybrid? I just bought a used 2007 honda civic hybrid and it drives very peculiarly.
I received my "software update" today. It didn't help. Surprise, surprise. I posted my experience today on YouTube. 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid IMA Battery Problems After Software Update http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1ny0sWVvVM I'm pretty sure this is the same recall that everyone is talking about. I'm tired of it.
Ha.....Honda stepped in because their "stellar" name was being dragged through the mud and for no other reason. It sounds great, this extended warranty they were forced to issue and frankly it is a good thing but this issue was first made known to Honda service personnel via a TSB in the summer of 2006. I saw it and yet the issue continued through the 2006-2007 and some of the 2008 ... Read More

I just got the same exact issue on my Honda Civic 2007 Navigation system. The Toggle button used to pan the map works only for going left but not anymore for up/down or right. The Honda dealership offered a deal to replace the panel for $800 with 50:50 split of cost between me & them. That is expensive & just irritating for a small button issue. If a lot of folks ... There's nothing wrong at all with Hyundai. But it is a known fact that Kia is their budget line and is not as well built nor as reliable. I had to get my rear arms replaced a few weeks ago. Honda sent out a "service memo" to the dealerships notifying them about this. They went ahead and changed mine out, even though I was not having issues that suggested they needed to be replaced. I have been having issues since 11/4/08. My dealership has had my car for 8 cumulative days, and in those visits, I have left with ... Read More
Hi, I have the same problem with my 2007 Civic. The A/C went out and when I took it to the dealer they told me a rock cracked the condenser and that my warranty wouldn't cover it. The service manager's name was Wayne.....just wondering if that is a coincidence or if you took it to the Honda dealership in Santa Barbara as well. He played dumb....and acted like he didn't know ... Read More
The 41 plus MPG highway that I am getting on my 2007 Civic is the same now at 35,000 miles as it was last year with ten miles on it. ?????
We bought a 2007 CR-V at San Leandro Honda last year. Internet Sales dept. Market pricing...simple no hassles. Probably could have gotten someone closer to where we live to match their price, but even the back and forth on email with the other dealers got on my nerves. So..gave my business to dealer that gave us the best price up-front and easiest buying experience.

Good to hear that you have filed a complaint with the NHTSA. I filed one in early September, and all of us who are having the problem should file a complaint. As far as causing it to happen "on demand", it always happened to me more often in stop and go traffic, and when the AC was needed. The service manager at my dealer explained that in warmer temps, when the ... Read More
Ok, I've got to chime-in on my problem that seems to be a repeating topic on this forum. We just returned home from a 4482 mile road trip through the southwest. Somewhere around Albuquerque (half way point) I thought I noticed some rear tire wear not seen before. When home, I took a good look, and the rear tires are trashed. Worn to the inside - bad! Is this condition similar ... Read More
My 2007 Civic EX coupe is less than 2 years old. This summer, the steering wheel began vibrating when I applied the brakes at highway speeds. I took it to the dealer and the diagnosis was warped rotors. I couldn't believe this could happen to a virtually brand-new car at only 27,000 miles. (My last Honda didn't have ANY braking issues until 80,000 miles or so. Same commute, same driving style.) ... Read More
I suspect that the dealer may of put the wrong oil in my 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid. The car seem sluggish on acceleration and the milage is down slightly. They may of put thicker oil in it. Has this happen to anyone else and will it damage the car?

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say, in response to your assertion that a Civic will be more reliable than a Scion. So I will clarify: both Honda and Scion (and its parent Toyota) have excellent reliability records. If there is any evidence to say that the Civic will be significantly more reliable than a Scion, I haven't seen it. But feel free to provide it, if you ... Read More
Forgive my ignorance: 2006 EX 4D. I am about to replace my tires - 46k - If I replace them and then mention the TSB, will a dealer perform the TSB for the uneven/rapid tire ware or will he need to check for tire ware on the new tires...before I eventually rotate them? Also, in the difference between a recall and a TSB, will you be out of pocket for a ... Read More
