2006 Civic LX - Electrical Problem?
Bought new, my 2006 Civic LX has been problem free up until yesterday. The vehicle has just 21K miles on it. Turning the key on, all warning lights on the instrument panel began flashing, the temp gauge and fuel gages didn't register. Drove car okay to dealer and left it for diagnosis. Anybody had this happen to them? What happened and what was the solution? I'm hoping ... Read More...
Shell Oil-Rebates
I don't own a Honda, but the Shell gas delivers the best mileage. Plus my Shell credit card gives a rebate on all items purchased at the Shell location including gas. The rebate is around 5%, so it is even cheaper than all the cut rate stations, and performance is better, and I use the midgrade every other tank..premium the balance. It's a 2006 Pontiac GPGT w/SC260hp ... Read More...
Re: My dumb luck [hatemyhonda]
I feel badly for you and your daughter. Too bad you didn't find this site before buying the car. I seem to remember someone saying there were dealers that won't even take the 2006 Civic as a trade in. I've had no real problems with my '07 coupe, but I keep an eye on everything and still come here to get the latest information on it after a little over 2 years of driving it. ... Read More...
Re: Rear Shocks [sandman_6472]
Today's NY Times auto section (3/22) reports that Honda has issued TSB 09-005 for 2006-9 rear shocks that may have come loose. They offer "replacing the assembly" with full or partial reimbursement for out of warantee cars at district manager's discretion. Also, in the same article, note TSB 09-007 for replacement of "drive belt tensioner pivot bolt and a rerouted ... Read More...
Re: Problems with 2006 Civic SI [cz75]
Shiite doesn't just happen. Failure of a bearing prematurely was due to either poor design or poor quality control. Mechanical failures are not a mystery or magical. Thanks for the tip on the film. I may have a low threshold for complaining but I have never had premature failure in any Honda before 150K or better. This failure was actually > 30k beyond warranty. ... Read More...
Re: Problems with 2006 Civic SI [lt_honda_owner]
Funny, but my Si sedan is my best Honda/Acura product yet. 30mil film will keep the foglights from getting broken and K2 fogs from eBay are much cheaper when you do replace them, and not much worse, provided you keep as much of the OEM as is feasible. A State Farm Rand McNally road atlas is free, hence much cheaper than navigation and is sufficient for most people, ... Read More...
Problems with 2006 Civic SI
I was a long time Honda fan. My experience with the 2006 SI and especially with a recent problem with idler/secondary pulley failure have turned me off to Honda. Several design problems with SI. Trunk lid does not operate correctly as the design does not take into account the heavier rear deck spoiler on the SI. The spoiler is ugly and I didn't really want it to begin ... Read More...
Re: Real MPG Better With Premium?[targettuning]
I use a tank of Premium on occasion. Not often. Almost without exception (90% +) the best gas mileage I have ever achieved with a vehicle (2001 Toyota Tacoma Base Reg Cab 4cyl manual 4x2 78,000mi, 2001 Camry Ce 4cyl manual 60,000mi, 2005 Toyota Tacoma Base Access cab 4x2 4cyl auto 39,000mi, 2006 Toyota Sienna CE 36,000mi, and this 2008 Civic LX auto 29,000mi, all ... Blown Head Gasket because of improper bleeding of coolant..5 Months later??
Hi All! I am trying to figure out who I believe on this one...my daughter's 2006 Honda Civic was in an accident back in September 08, and was repaired (including a replaced radiator). Feb 27th 09 it overheats and we're told it's got a blown head gasket. Now the insurance company is claiming that the mechanic improperly bled the coolant system, causing an air bubble ...
