Civic Hybrid Catalytic Converter Failures

02 sensor now catalytic converter

Sounds like I'm having the same issue many of you have experienced with your catalytic converters. I have about 110,000 miles on my car right now and a couple weeks ago the engine light came on. The code detected a bad 02 sensor which I had replaced (dang those little things are expensive!). It wasn't 2 days before the light was back on. I took it back to the mechanic ... Read More...

Honda Civic Hybrid IMA Problems

Continued

(CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS POST) The dealership said it's not like they have the old software to install... he said they'd have to get it from Honda, and they're not going to send it. They consider the new software the correct software. I asked him "well what about cars that don't have battery problems... it's not a recall, so they're still running with a full hybrid." ... 2006-2008 Engine block issues

First time here. I own a 2006 Honda Civic w/ 56K miles. Long story short- smelled like my car was overheating..hours later checked hoses, water etc..no apparent issues. Towed it to my mechanic- He states that once they did a pressure test that a stream of water pissed out of the ENGINE BLOCK? He said in his 40 yrs working on hondas he has never seen anything like it. ... Read More...

Re: Duplicate IMA Malfunction On Demand? [mrlar]

mrlar, The Service Bulletin number is 09-058, there are 3 software updates associated with the one SB number is how I understand it, Elk Grove Ca did only a partial and it ran like severe crap, then Lodi Ca did the additional one and it improved but still assists/charges/performance like crap. And no, have already asked if they can return it the original settings, ... Read More...

Honda Civic Hybrid MPG-Real World Numbers

Re: 2006 Gas mileage falling. Why? [nilesboy]

As I mentioned before on this thread, I wasn't getting the mileage I expected after buying a 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid on April 1, 2009. As I mentioned then, please take your Honda Civic Hybrid to any Honda Dealer and ask for a Fuel Consumption Test. They may have to keep your car for several days to do this. I have never gotten better than 39.9 miles per gallon driving ... Read More...

Honda Civic Hybrid IMA Problems

Honda Civic IMA problems

My 2006 HCH worked beautifully for the 1st 2 years of ownership. It then developed mileage issues which reduced my average mileage from 45 mpg to 37. Worse, the battery crashes a lot, rendering the car a menace on the road. The dealership installed the four "updates" which did very little. American Honda won't even admit that there is a problem, probably in order ... Read More...

Honda Civic Real World MPG

Does going with Fully Synthetic oil help with the MPG?

I have 3 questions that I would love to get answers for. I have a 2009 Honda Civic LX-S and 2006 Acura TL Questions here relate to both of my cars, but probably More importantly to the 2009 Civic: 1. Does switching to Full Synthetic oil help with the MPG, and if it does, by how much. Did anybody over here gone from the conventional to the Synthetic? what was the jump in ... Read More...

VW Jetta GLI vs Honda Civic Si

Re: What???? [chris_tx]

PLEASE do not compare the current Si (FG2) to previous years. This current Si is leaps and bounds far superior than previous years. This is the only Si that drives and feels like a solid German car. I am employed by Mercedes-Benz, the best automotive company in the world, let alone German manufacturer, and I can't stop driving my Si. The MotorTrend article comparing ... Read More...

Honda Civic 2006-2007 Issues

Re: Engine Overheating [teeeg]

Really sorry to hear that teeeg. It's unfortunate, but happening way too often with the 2006 Civic. I just got may car back yesterday after two weeks of being worked on at the dealership. Since my car had 48,000 miles, it was still under the 60,000 powertrain warranty (but I had to physically show them). They put a brand new block and it seems to be working fine. Since ...
