2006 Honda Civic Coupe LX 2dr Coupe (1.8L 4cyl 5A)

Review

Have enjoyed driving car. Work done on car includes: towed twice to dealership for defective water pump bolt working into belts. Excessive tire wear. Replaced rear brakes. Droopy sun visors-what a pain-even though replaced once. Other than that regular oil change and tire rotation is all had to do. Get approximately 38 mpg in winter, 30 in summertime in Texas.

Favorite Features

fun to drive, sporty appearance

Suggested Improvements

better tire wear, bolt problem, visor vendor quality issue.

2006 Honda Civic Coupe EX 2dr Coupe (1.8L 4cyl 5A)

Review

I purchased used in Oct 09- Have loved it. I agree blind spots are a problem until you get used to them- took me about 2 months. It handled fine in the snow and hills of Pittsburgh. Standard tires were not great in the snow (and by snow I mean 2 feet) so I bought snow tires and didn't have any problem driving through unplowed streets! I love the sunroof, really makes up for the small windows in the backseat. Seats are really comfortable.

Favorite Features

The stereo- have had so many people tell me what great sound it has! The aux cable for my ipod is awesome! Really love the design of the car. Love the tight steering and it is quieter than 4dr civics.

Suggested Improvements

Would love a "seek" button on the steering wheel- where it is is a pain to reach over while driving, but I'm picky. Also I wish the drivers seat would go back to the same position after you fold it forward to get in the back. As it is the passenger side does, but driver side has to adjust back.

Review

I previously owned a tuned 2003 Ford Mustang GT, but got this Civic because I was driving 70 miles round trip to work everyday. The civic gets great mileage, 35-40mpg on the highway. Unfortunately, I've had to have the water pump and ac compressor replaced. But that was done under warranty, and other than oil changes, tire rotations and gas, I don't have to spend any money on her. The only downside is that there are some serious blind spots around the C pillars in the back that make it extremely difficult at times to change lanes. I love the two tiered instrument cluster and the Ipod jack. I wish she had more power, but I love the great mileage.

Favorite Features

Two-tiered instrument cluster, ipod jack, great mileage, fun to drive.

Suggested Improvements

Smaller C pillars to reduce blindspots. Better stock sound system. A little more power.

2006 Honda Civic Coupe LX 2dr Coupe (1.8L 4cyl 5A)

Review

Owned the 2006 Civic LX coupe for three years. Great mileage, but terrible in the snow- ascending the slightest hills were a challenge. Tires wearing unevenly. Hesitation starting in cold weather. Suspension squeaks in cold weather. Interior plastics cheap and scratch seemingly just by looking at them. Car very unsteady on the highway especially in cross winds and most use the foot to the floor for acceleration. Only had 17,000 mi and brakes were worn. Front end so low would scrape parking barriers. Paint chips easily, needs thicker clearcoat. A/C not the best. Traded for Ford Mustang. It's good to be home!

Favorite Features

Two-tier dash styling, better fuel mileage.

Suggested Improvements

Upgrade interior plastics, better control arms, better suspension, A/C unit overhaul.

Review

Owned this car for three years and have had no major problems -- Just two recalls for a tensioner bolt and drivers seat bracket bolt. Gas mileage is superb, but it is only a small 4 cyl. and you can notice the strain. As a prior poster mentioned, car is not good in the snow. Maybe too light? Have had difficulty ascending slight grades with only a coating of snow on the road. I have also had problems with traction on level streets from a stopped position. Interior constructed of VERY cheap plastics that scratch and mark seemingly from just looking at it wrong. Suspension squeaks during cold weather months. No momentum obtained on highway driving; have to keep your foot to the floor.

Favorite Features

Futuristic styling, LED gauges, safety features, gas economy.

Suggested Improvements

Use better quality interior plastics; reposition emergency handbreak so it doesn't hit your knee; traction control option (even for a front-wheel drive)
