2005 Honda Civic Hybrid 4dr Sedan (1.3L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid 5M)

Review

I have driven my Honda Civic Hybrid for almost seven months and I am totally satisfied with this automobile. I had to get used to the small size, coming from an SUV but was not a problem as this car is fun to drive and gets superior milage. I average 35-38 mpg in the city and 45 on the highway at 65mph. The gas milage is slightly overstated on the dealers sticker and the milage you do get depends a lot on how carefully you drive the car. The autostop control is slow to engage when using the car in cold weather which reduces mpg and makes you think its not working properly. The engine has to reach a certain temp first. This car is an excellent buy for anyone.

Favorite Features

Suggested Improvements

An adjust to the autostop system to allow it to function when the engine is at a colder temperature to improve cold weather mpg. More foot room in the back seat when the front seats are set back is definitely needed.

Review

I drive about 120 miles a day for my commute and love every minute of getting 50+ mpg. I replaced the standard stereo with one that has a XM Radio receiver and that makes the drive bearable. Road noise is the pretty high unless I drive outside the ruts made by those who insist on having studded tires on their cars.

Favorite Features

XM Radio supplied by me. Next best feature is the Cruise Control.

Suggested Improvements

Put some insulation in to cut the road noise down. And have XM Radio as a standard stereo. Also the drivers seat can be beefed up some with lumbar support. All vehicle manufactures should have the drivers seat made for heavy use since it's the one that gets used all the time.

Review

When I bought this car I new that the new model would be coming out in November, but I needed the car right then and there so I bought it. I love it to death it is my child, however I wish I could have waited for the new 6-speed 197 hp 2006 Si. None the less this car is quick, even with its' 160 hp engine for the first month I had it I peeled out almost everytime off the line. Overall I love this car and I don't think I will ever get anything but a Civic Si, unless VW comes out with a new R32. Man I love those hatchbacks.

Favorite Features

-Speed, easily go fast wihout trying -Interior style, everything about the interior is awesome, its like Honda made this interior for a $30,000 car -Stereo is pretty good for stock, I was surprised -Clutch is amazing -Awesome car -Wish I had the money for the HFP package

Suggested Improvements

-More power, what else -Less road noise, I travel a lot so I go 80+ mph and the road noise is pretty high -Gear ratios, mainly 1st and 2nd -Make the HFP package a little more reasonably priced -Mainly all these suggestions are having to be made up because truthfully this car is awesome.

Review

After 1.5 years I am still in love with my Civic Hybrid. I get about 45 mpg and fill the gas tank about every 450 miles. Passengers are always surprised that it seems like a normal car - until it auto-stops at stop lights. They they are REALLY surprised! It has a quiet high- pitched whine that is annoying for people who can hear it but it is easily covered by the stereo.

Favorite Features

The hybrid engine, of course! Auto- temp and -fan are good too.

Suggested Improvements

Second power outlet button to auto- stop even when car thinks it shouldn't such as in stop-and-go traffic and when parked.

Review

I've had this auto for about three months and it's a great car. I set the odometer when i left the dealer and so far it's showing 43.1 for all of the driving that we've done (4500.) The car rides well, has plenty of pep, and is very quiet. The only minus in this equation is road traction in snow and ice. Traction and control was scary until i bought a set of snow tires. I wasn't made aware of the need until i drove it in snow for the first time. I nearly quit driving it. Once the new tires were on it felt like it could climb a wall! No problems since.

Favorite Features

Suggested Improvements

The light weight of the car combined with the low rolling resistance tires makes for a dangerous ride in snowy or icy weather. The buyer should be advised.

2005 Honda Civic EX 2dr Coupe (1.7L 4cyl 5M)

Review

This is the car for people who need to get around and don't need to carry a lot of stuff with them. The little engine is competent, esp. with the 5 sp manual. The EX has everything you could ask for in a $15K car. Can be fun to drive, if you push it. Seats can get a little stiff after 300 miles or so. I say get one!! A great car!!!

Favorite Features

Low cost of ownership, tricked out at $15K!!

Suggested Improvements

Suspension can seem loose at low speeds.
