2004 Honda Civic Hybrid 4dr Sedan (1.3L 4cyl 5M)
Review
Great auto for 100 mile r/t to work. Comfortable for 6'2, 230 lb guy. No repairs as of 35,000 miles, except for service. Handles good in wet conditons but poor in snow.
Favorite Features
Great on gas mileage, 44 mpg, which as expected is under the EPA's test of 50 mpg.

Don't love the car
Vehicle
2004 Honda Civic EX 4dr Sedan (1.7L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I have owned this car for 17 months. During that time, I have had to have a windshield seal reglued, the fuel sensor replaced, the cruise control unit replaced, the sunroof control unit replaced, and most recently, the gauges replaced. The gauges were replaced this week and the odometer now reads 100+ miles. Honda told me yesterday that they cannot reset it to the actual mileage--very annoying. I guess I'm supposed to live with this even though the car is under warranty. I'm not happy, and I still don't know yet if my low-fuel light problem has been fixed so that I actually can know when I need gas without tracking my mileage with the tripometer.
Favorite Features
interior design and comfort.
Suggested Improvements
Fix the low-fuel light so that it is reliable. Mine comes on anywhere from between fumes in the tank (less than a gallon) and 4 gallons in the tank.

Decided to try a Honda sedan after racking up over 235,000 miles on my 1993 Toyota pickup. Based on past performance and reliability, this looked like the perfect runner. I was not disappointed as the 1.7 is peppy when combined with the 5-speed--and gets about 30 mpg around town. All controls are easy to reach. Dash lights are great since you can adjust independently with and without the headlights on. Stereo is of excellent quality. Fold down seats are a bonus when extra room is needed for cargo. Suspension is solid and surprising-- doesn't feel like a typical subcompact. Front seats are slightly cramped but not uncomfortable. Seats have good support for long drives.
Favorite Features
Peppy engine, solid brakes, dual trip meters, adjustable dash lights, reasonably smooth suspension, and effortless shifting of the 5-speed transmission.
Suggested Improvements
Make vehicle slightly wider to eliminate cramped feeling up front. Perhaps a 6-speed transmission would help compensate for low shift points and allow better cruising at freeway speeds.
My first Honda - won't be my last!

2004 Honda Civic EX 2dr Coupe (1.7L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I bought a Honda after having American made cars. I had heard about the reliability and higher resale of Japanese cars and decided that I wanted some of that after having a few lemons. I have not been disappointed! My Civic is great. I drive about 32K per year, and since I spend so much time in my car, I needed one that would be reliable, comfortable, and get great gas mileage. My Civic is all of these. Plus, it looks great!
Favorite Features
Sunroof, stereo, GAS MILEAGE, styling, handling, reliability. I love almost everything about this car.
Suggested Improvements
The power moonroof switch is a little awkward to locate, as is the main Cruis on/off switch. They are both to the lower left and difficult to see, especially when driving.
fun to drive

2004 Honda Civic Si 2dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I love driving this car. It is even more satisfying knowing that it's good on gas. I get better than rated mileage in this car. I haven't even modified it. This car is great for people who enjoy driving and who have needs beyond merely getting there. It's nice to have a spacious small car that still performs and isn't that expensive.
Favorite Features
The shifter is perfect for both performance and comfort; I also love the suede racing-style seats, which are extremely stable and comfortable. The back seat is very comfortable for three adults. Despite being several inches shorter than my 2000 Ford Focus, the 2004 Si has a lot more interior room.
Suggested Improvements
I wish the turn radius were tighter. The need for a sixth gear and a little bit more power have been solved in the 2006 Si coupe. The stock tires are poor -- better grip and tread life would be really nice. All-wheel drive would be extremely cool, too.

Civic Si
Vehicle
2004 Honda Civic Si 2dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl 5M)
Review
Fantastic car. Only averages 28 mpg though. Beautiful from every angle inside & out. No mechanical problems at all. Stiff ride for Detroit roads. Great in the curves. Does 125 mph with ease. Super quality materials inside. Made in Europe. Great value at $17,200. Hondas hold their value great. I'm already ahead of the depreciation curve after only 1.5 years.
Favorite Features
Seats, Leather wrap steering wheel and shifter, keyless entry, 16" wheels look great, 4 wheel disc brakes & ABS standard, sun roof, nice subtle exhaust sound, materials feel great to the touch, easy to clean, hatchback holds my 62cm road bicycle & my wife's 54cm road bike, not bad for tall drivers.
Suggested Improvements
Bottom part of seat cushion makes me slouch a bit, driver window gets slightly misaligned on the way up in a strong wind, sun roof seal sometimes does not completely seat itself (cosmetic issue at times - has never leaked), gas mileage consistently over 30mpg in the city would be good, better brakes.
Amazing performance, bad body!

Review
I love this car, it really performs well, and I believe the engine has a lot of life in it. That is if the body holds up. I was in a slight fender bender at about 5 MPH and the entire back end cracked. Other than the body though, this car is amazing, and is a definite buy.
Favorite Features
Engine runs pretty well for being so small, shocks, breaks, and handling.
Suggested Improvements
Body, hopefully the new 2006 one is of better quality.
Love My Civic

I traded in my 1998 Chevy Cavalier for a gently used 2004 Civic. My husband is all about Hondas (he currently drives a 2000 Honda Accord) so it wasn't hard to convince him that the Civic would be a safe and reliable purchase. It is easy to handle and is great on gas. I drive the highway a lot and there is minimal road noise inside the passenger compartment.
Favorite Features
Headlight shape; instrument cluster
Suggested Improvements
Door unlock on passenger side; sunglasses holder.

This is my second Civic. I love my first one. This one is horrible. I had to have the fuel system replaced twice in the first 15,000 miles. The car does not handle as well and is unsteady around turns on the highway. I am commute over 100 miles round trip daily and dislike this vehicle most of the time. It is loud and the sluggish nothing like the one before this one. The only good part is the gas mileage which is in about high 30's in and out of the city. I will never buy Honda again as the company has been miserable to deal with and fixing stuff. My car is just one of many in the area that have had major problems with systems and gauges.

Can't Lose With A Honda Civic

2004 Honda Civic EX 4dr Sedan (1.7L 4cyl 5M)

The wife and I had our hearts set on a Toyota Corolla. We test drove one, sat down to negotiate the price, the salesman was playing their games so out of spite I told him we were going to go to Honda. We did, and test drove the Civic, out of spite, but fell in love with it. Better handling than Corolla, better stereo system, much more comfortable ride, less road noise, and better overall fit and finish. And best of all to the wife, it was better priced than a comparably equipped Corolla. After all it was Consumer Reports Car of the year in 2003 or 2004 I can't quite recall but you can look it up. Cheers.
