Review of the 2004 Honda Civic

  • Still a class leader, the 2004 Honda Civic is the most refined, solidly built economy car on the market.

  • Safety
  • Pros

Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability and quality, impressive crash test scores.

  • Cons

Top-of-the-line models are pricey, antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

  • What's New for 2004

In typical Honda fashion, the Civic receives a number of minor changes this year in order to keep it fresh. For the coupe and sedan, there's new exterior styling, including restyling for the front and rear bumpers, hood, headlights and grille. Inside, the audio speakers have been upgraded, extra sound deadening material has been added and floor mats are now standard in the LX and EX. The LX trim has slightly bigger wheels this year (15 inches) and standard keyless entry. A new value package contains air conditioning, a CD player and a new center console. For the Si hatchback, there are new headlight and taillight designs, larger 16-inch wheels and flashier interior trim. Like the regular sedan, the Civic Hybrid has updated styling, standard floor mats and improved speakers. It also has a new interior console with an armrest, adjustable rear headrests and a manual driver-seat height adjuster. Finally, all 2004 Honda Civic sedans and coupes have a new seatbelt reminder system.

Vehicle: 2004 Honda Civic EX 2dr Coupe w/Side Airbags (1.7L 4cyl 5M)

I purchased my Honda Civic in February. At first it was great. Then it began shifting from 5th gear into neutral while driving on the highway at 65 mph!! The dealership was able to find nothing wrong with the car.

Vehicle: 2004 Honda Civic EX 2dr Coupe w/Side Airbags (1.7L 4cyl 5M)

The design wasn't quite up to the early models, but the reliability is still the best of coupes and hatchbacks.

Vehicle: 2004 Honda Civic EX 2dr Coupe w/Side Airbags (1.7L 4cyl 5M)

I am a repeat Civic owner, having had a 89 CRX, 92 Acura Integra LS, 95 Civic Coupe EX. Seven trouble free years later needed a new car. I was blown away with the improvements in the Civic. I test drove the Accord Coupe to move upmarket. However I didnt feel there is a big exists anymore. I found the Civic had the best combination of sportiness, clean design, and comfort and most important value in this segment.

Boy do i love this

Vehicle: 2004 Honda Civic EX 2dr Coupe w/Side Airbags (1.7L 4cyl 5M)

I absolutely love this car. I think it's so fun to drive and I love how safe I feel in it. I also loved my buying experience. My salesperson was very knowledgeable (it's his job DUH) but he was also very personable which highly shocked me. I was in and out of the dealership not really but the time just flew by cause the guy was so nice and I felt really involved. I'm just LOVING my FIRST Honda

Wow for the 2nd time!

Vehicle: 2004 Honda Civic EX 2dr Coupe w/Side Airbags (1.7L 4cyl 5M)

I just traded my 2001 Civic Lx Coupe in for a new 2004 Ex Coupe and i am just as amazed. This car is incredible! It's the beginning of the model year and i got $800 off, the gas milage is almost 40mpg (and its not a hybrid), and it looks HOT. Besides maitanence, i put $0 into my last civic over 3yrs. These are truly THE best cars out there!
