Honda Civic vs. Hyundai Sonata
Re: SONATA VS CIVIC [tiger72]
I have a 2003 Sonata LX V6 that I bought new. At the time it was a bit of a risk, but I got it loaded with every single option you could get at the time and I still think I paid them about $20K. Great investment. I still get compliments about how sharp it looks. One of the suprises is I get 30 Mpg on the highway driving 70 MPH. I am a subscriber to Consumer Reports Magazine and ... Re: SONATA VS CIVIC [backy]
Here here backy! That dealer guy is completely clueless. My friend has a top of the line civic and it's a nice car for sure. But my sonata is just as nice and feels just as nice for the interior and driving. Also the fuel economy is only a few miles less in city and highway for a much larger car. I like Civics, but not enough to overpay for one. Also I'd like to mention my 2003 ... Read More...
Civic Hybrid Catalytic Converter Failures
Re: Civic Hybrid Catalytic Converter Failures [ldemat]
Since I purchased it in nov. 2007, my 2003 Honda civic Hybrid also has been turning the Check Engine Light on for several months, with code P1420. I noticed that this usually happened one or two days after I filled the gas tank. The gas cap was always well tight. I cleared the error by disconnecting the 12-volt battery for 20 seconds or so. CEL stayed off for the rest ... Read More...
Re: fair and balanced [targettuning]
Yes, I agree. Now the question for me is if Hyundai is improving...from what, if Mazda remains Mazda, how reliable... compared to Toyota and Honda. My Mazda owning friends like them but have lots of repair/maintenance issues and their cars don't age well. The Hyundais I've driven (all pre 2008) still seem somewhat primitive to me in road feel and performance ... Read More...
Honda Civic Hybrid Transmission Problems
Argh! My trade-in experience...
We had a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid that we bought new. At about 77,000 miles the transmission died. I'm so glad I found this link, otherwise we would have kept it...the dealership replaced the transmission, no charge. (We're still covered under an extended warranty that we purchased with the car.) SO, we wanted to trade it in, for either an 08 HCH or a Prius. We were ... Read More...

I see these changes for 2009 MMC Civic:
1) The switch to the same headlight lenses used on the JDM/Asian market Civic sedan. 2) A slightly revised instrument panel, probably with a new optional car stereos that include switchable high-speed USB 2.0 port direct control for Apple iPods, Microsoft Zunes, Sandisk Sansas and higher-end Creative ZEN portable media players through the car stereo controls. ... Re: Which is best overall? [jd10013]
honda is a 2003 model year get the sentra. Why? The 2003 Civic is fundamentally the same car as the 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2005 Civic. Read More...
Re: Which is best overall? [g4illa]
What year cars are we talking about? anyhow, I'd deffinitly scratch the toyota. nothing against them, but 150k miles is a lot. sure, the engine is probably fine, but 150 is a lot of miles on things like exhaust, suspension, transmission and so on. A 150k car (any make/model) can quickly and easily nickel and dime you to death.. as for the honda and nissan, it's hard ... Read More...
