Honda Civic Hybrid Battery Pack Questions
Re: New problem - could be the battery 2003 Civic Hybrid [stan29]
I enjoyed reading everyone else's anecdotes (enjoy isn't really the right word), so I thought I'd post my experience. My 2003 had a transmission problem at about 32k miles. It was out of warranty, but the dealership (Curry Honda in Atlanta) replaced the starter clutch for free - they said there was a bulletin on the problem, and the technician, who seemed knowledgeable ... Honda Civic Hybrid IMA Problems
Re: HCH- battery dead after 81,000 [astephans]
I just ran into the exact same situation today. IMS and engine light came on yesterday for the first time ever. I took it to the Honda dealership today and they said I need a new battery. My mileage is ~81,800 so it is not covered. The service tech didn't initially offer it, but after I basically said I was a loyal customer and would otherwise never buy a Honda again he ... honda civic 2003 a/c problem
hi everyone, I have a 2003 honda civic and last summer my a/c was blowing cold air for just 20 minutes and after the car being sitting for a while the a/c will work again. Now my a/c don't work at all, the compressor clutch doesn't engage, it will engage if I jump wire it at the relay in the hood fuse box, this is as far I went troubleshooting it. Can somone tell me what else ... Read More...
Re: looking at civics 2002 and 2003 [drgums]
I would probably go with the EX with higher miles; you get more features, the price is lower, and 68K is nothing for a Honda Civic. (mine has 134K and is still running perfectly fine) These cars can easily go 200-225K with good maintenance, if you're willing to drive it that long. Just make sure all the maintenance has been done (oil changes, fluid changes, etc), ... Read More...
Honda Civic Hybrid Transmission Problems
Re: You have Judder! [luvhatehybrid]
I had the same problem with my first gen HCH that I got in 2002. It was only about 30G's into it and I knew the tranny was bad - it had all the classic symptoms. I kept telling them to check it out - they conveniently kept telling me all was well over and over again until after my warranty was over - so I signed up for the extended warranty and said - look - I have the extended ... Civic Hybrid Catalytic Converter Failures
Catalytic Converter: 5 going on 6
We are on our FIFTH, count 'em, fifth, CC for our 2003 Civic Hybrid. We have had to pay labor for our fourth one -- about $350 -- and they covered the fifth one under the 12,000-mile warranty. Honda has covered parts and labor on all, but one. Despite all the complaints out there, Honda is refusing to do a recall. I called the main customer service number, and the very ... Read More...
Re: looking at civics 2002 and 2003 [drgums]
The 03 might still have manufacturer warranty if it was bought late 03 or leftover in 04. May want to check this out. Although, not much goes wrong with these other than the manifold and gan be hard to get under warranty as the manifold come attached to the converter all in one peice. Warranty shows converter 5 year warranty, manifold shows 3 years or 60K. This is a ... Read More...

Re: 2003 HCH Groaning Noise [bobguynn]
Hi, did u have a chance to check the level of tranny fluid on your HCH? It just might need a little bit. the dealerships just follow the specs on filling the tranny fluid..sometimes..it just needs a little bit more (be careful, I bit at a time.. do not overfill). I would wait on getting a hybrid. in a year or so there will be lots to chose from besides Honda an toyota. personally, ... Read More...
