2003 Honda Civic LX 2dr Coupe (1.7L 4cyl 5M)

Review

I got this car used, to replace my '97 Accord. I really like this car. it has about 25k miles on without even the hint of a problem. Ironically enough I was rear ended (correction- Plowed through) 4 days after I bought the car. I was rear ended at about 30 mph by a brand new Chevy Malibu. Her car was totalled. Mine had 7k worth of damage. I am very impressed at how well my Civic stood up in that accident for being such a small car. Anyways, it took them about 3 weeks to fix my car and its as good as new. If your looking for a semi-inexpensive car that has very low operating cost, high reliability and is also fun then go with a Civic. You just can't go wrong with a Honda

Favorite Features

Gas mileage. Fun to drive, very "sturdy" low operating costs

Suggested Improvements

A little more horses, but the new ones have 140, so i guess honda got the message.

2003 Honda Civic Si 2dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

Review

I admit, I'm not that young anymore, but I still like economical, fun-to-drive cars that will last. I have owned my Si new just over 2 years and have 57,000 miles on it. It is by far the most comfortable long-distance car I have driven. The handling is superb, the seats are comfortable yet sporty, the ergonomics are excellent. I average 30 MPG and my experience with dealerships has been very good. I think the leg room in the rear is better than the Jetta, and the utility of the hatch is terrific. The overall feel of this car is far better the price I paid for it. This is definitely an overlooked value.

Favorite Features

Interior comfort and feel, shifter, handling, utility, storage, value, uniqueness.

Suggested Improvements

Anti-pinch sunroof requires you to release and reengage the switch twice while closing. Adjustable intermittent wiper delay. Less pessimistic fuel guage. Seat tilt (seat pan). Better stereo (mp3 capability/satellite radio).

2003 Honda Civic EX 4dr Sedan (1.7L 4cyl 5M)

Review

Excellent car, this was my first Civic much improved design since the '99 model. Roomy interior and trunk. Never had any mechanical or elctrical problems. Gas mileage although listed as 30/38, in reality if you drive in the city do not expect 25-28 even with slow takeoff from red light, although its hard to judge because I always have AC on, which drains gas a lot. Interior materials are pretty good for its price, however would strongly recommend getting the after-market leather package.

Favorite Features

Excellent overall desgn, extremely reliable. Great mileage.

Suggested Improvements

More horsepower. It's kind of slow when merging with a highway RPMs often go into 7-8. Also many of the controls are not illuminated at night (i.e. side mirror controls).

Review

I have made 7 trips Sacramento to San Diego at speeds of 65-75 over the coastal mountains each time and still was able to maintain a 40-42 mpg average. Each time over the mountain, I did not have to drop my speed to less than 55 mph with moderate passengers/weight.I have taken car for maintenance visits as specified with no problems or failures. The costs for each visit was not unusual. I am highly satisfied with the vehicle and will replace it with another as soon as I can affords same. I have begun saving to replace the battery in case I choose to keep the car.

Favorite Features

Economy and simplicity to operate.

Anticipated battery life

Review

I drove this for the first time and just had the time of my life. Yes it is a 4 cyl however it is extremely peepy and great gas mileage. I fill up 1 a week and I drive 25 miles one way to work and it is the primary car that my husband and I drive for errands. It could easily be souped up and there are so many things you can do to this car to make it look better. So all in all it is a great car.

Favorite Features

The interior is nice and comfortable and it has a sleek exterior. So that and the gas mileage and the amount of fun I have driving it. The entire car is awesome!

Suggested Improvements

Have a wing standard. and that is about it!

Review

I purchased mine in Aug 2004 with only 3400 miles on it. Excellent choice for my 40 mile highway commute. I'm seeing a steady 38 mpg. Very happy to find a car w/o AC or electric windows..always a costly maintenance issue. Excellent build quality inside and out. Fun to drive. I gave up the utility of a Ford Ranger for the economy and reliability..absolutley no regrets. I would like to see the sedan get the HX package

Favorite Features

Simplicity, economy, and typical Honda reliability

Suggested Improvements

Put a HX package in the sedan

40k miles on it now. If I drive it insanely hard I get 41 mpg. Normal around 48 mpg. If I pay attention, I can get 55 mpg (stay off the interstate to do this.) Acceleration is enough to merge well on freeways (okay, so it's not a Viper...). Handles fairly well and comfortable enough (didn't buy it to be a limo...). It's a great car and looks just like a regular Civic (a plus for me).

Favorite Features

Mileage, interior layout, instruments,

Suggested Improvements

Honda could have added a relay to switch off the head lights with the key or the "autostop". The trunk lid leaks rainwater into the trunk when opened. Interior lights need timers. Low drag disc brakes in the rear would be nice for those of us who change our own pads & rotors.

2003 Honda Civic LX 2dr Coupe (1.7L 4cyl 5M)

Review

I decided that enough with the poor reliability and poor service I got with a domestic car, I decided I want some peace and comfort. And the Honda delivers. High quality build, very good looks, fuel economy that is second to none( I average anywhere from 30 mpg to over 40 mpg, just depends on how heavy my right foot is), excellent handling, and an interior that was designed right. Very fun to drive. And when I went for service, the dealer treated me the right way. No more domestics..they have lost me forever!

Favorite Features

Fuel economy...30 mpg to over 40 mpg, can't complain about that. Build quality....everything fits together with no mistakes. Seats are great, love the rest of the interior, and the shifter is so easy to use and goes into each gear with precision. Very quiet, solid, and excellent handling.

Suggested Improvements

Stereo could be more powerful...but it still sounds great. A little bit more low end torque would be good, but overall it is a great performer.

Review

This Civic has been a great little vehicle for my morning, and afternoon, drive to work. The fuel economy is excellent, mid to high 30s. The vehicle has been very reliable, has required no maintenance other then routine and no repairs. I live in Houston and I chuckle every time I drive past a huge SUV or truck at a gas station. I drive 26 miles to work each morning and another 26 home each afternoon. I fill up each Monday, for 8-9 gallons.

Favorite Features

Gas mileage and reliability. The vehicle is so easy to drive and park around town.

Suggested Improvements

I really don't have many. The seats could be a bit more comfortable. The styling is a bit drab, but I don't care with the money I save on gasoline. Original tires are not so great.

Review

Currently I have 20,000 miles on the car with one problem with the power outlet. I'm impressed with the fuel economy which is better than I expected. Best is 36 mpg in spring & fall when AC not in use. Worst is 33mpg in winter and when AC in use. Driving is rural country roads with stop sign every 1~4 miles. Power train is refined and smooth compared to other cars I've had in this class. I was not happy with the handling, a little too much body roll. I've heard they've dialed in a little more softness into the suspension of this iteration of the Civic.

Favorite Features

Fuel economy, low maintenance costs, holds it's value well.

Suggested Improvements

Make the Civic handle like it used to. ABS should be standard on the LX.
